Well my little Willow Pillow, can't believe it's been two years ago that we said goodnight and sleep tight at Rainbow bridge. We all love and miss you every day, and thankful that when you crossed the bridge you were at home surrounded by love on your bed and warm. Xxxx

Thanks Shani it has been difficult, especially with two others who have not been too well. Really miss her, she was very often overlooked by people as she was a small black girl and not particularly 'pretty' (she was beautiful to us) a returnee to the kennels, we had ner for almost 5 years. Xx

It's been a year since I lost my beautiful Willow Pillow. I lit a candle for her today, I have just blown it out at the time of her crossing Rainbow bridge. I miss her so very much, she was an amazing girl. Keep running fast and free with your brothers and sisters and all of our beloved hounds and friends who have recently passed. Xxx

I would like to say a very heartfelt thanks to everyone who posted such beautiful words, comments and poems following the heart breaking loss of Willow. I am thankful that she was warm and on her bed surrounded by her family, although very poorly we did not expect her passing to be so soon. Se celebrated her 10th birthday on Christmas eve, ate a small Christmas dinner and we thought she was turning a corner. Sadly not. It is very much appreciated to know we have such a loving caring greyhound community. Thank you all. Jo xxx

Thanks Angie, my thoughts are with you and Mike too. Unfortunately just after I posted about Willow she had a seizure. Thankfully she is back up and about and eating, drinking and wandering around the garden.

Sarah has been better, but now has flabby bits underneath! Possible side effects from the steroids. If it's not one it's the other at the moment. Continue to stay safe, hopefully see you soon. Much love to you both, and thank you for thinking about us. Xxx

Happy Birthday Willow. So sorry - I didn't realise that you had been such a poorly girl, one of the drawbacks of not being at the kennels - I feel so out of touch with everything. I'm so pleased that you have picked up enough to enjoy some birthday treats & cuddles.

Jo I am thinking of you and your gang & wishing you all the best Christmas you can have under the circumstances. Really hope some sort of "normality" can be resumed in the new year and I can get back to my Daybreaks family. xx

Well....this is a post that at the beginning of the week I thought would not be writing. Today is my beautiful Willow Pillows 10th birthday, happy birthday gorgeous girl, despite being very poorly for the last two weeks you have rallied and made it.
She had not been eating and drinking very little to the point I was using a syringe to give her fluids, she then did not attempt to get up for two days. She visited Fivelands on Tuesday for what we thought would be goodbye. Christian vetandhairy man did not hold out much hope for her but gave her antibiotics and steroid injections, within an hour she was up and walking even if it was like a drunken dog. She started eating and drinking and walking properly and although not 100% is much better, even taking treats! Whilst she is happy we will continue to do the best for her. Happy birthday Willow Pillow, love you loads. Xxx

Wow! 16 donations. I know how amazing that is as Sam gave blood for the first time a couple of months ago and was fine but was too nervous once he got on the bed this time so we all made the decision to leave it. We're trying one more time. I know it's a similar story with others so it's not so common for dogs to become regular donors. It's definitely still worth going even for 1 donation as that can potentially save 4 lives.

I am so very proud of my girl today. She gave her 16th donation to Pet Blood Bank, sadly as she will be 9 on Christmas eve this was her last donation. She has potentially saved the lives of 64 dogs....amazing I think. Flloydy also donated, he just loves all the fuss and attention he gets! Although both of them nearly fell asleep whilst on the table!!

If you are unsure of putting your hound forward to do this, please either call me at the kennels or Pet Blood Bank directly on 01t09 232222. They are next back on 25 February, so if your dog is fit, healthy and weighs 25 kg or over please think about it. They all get a goody bag, toy and some Chappie food afterwards.

It was off to the kennels this morning for an appointment with the Pet Blood Bank. I thought it would be Willows last donation as she will be 9 on Christmas eve. There is one more visit before then so can donate one last time before retiring!

I hadn't realised that this was her 15th donation!! She has always been a little star when giving blood. Today she received a beautiful ceramic bowl in recognition of her 15th donation. It has a lovely inscription saying 'I've helped save up to 60 lives'. So very, very proud of her. Jo xxx

I am pleased to report that after Willows nasty turn yesterday she is now back to 'normal'. In Willow speak this is eating, having treats, whining for more treats and chasing around the garden with the others for no apparent reason, and tearing around with her favourite Mr Pheas! Thanks for everyone's help and support yesterday, it was very much appreciated.

I think that a lot of people thought that she was an oldie girl, she is 8 and does look older than her years but certainly does not act it! She has always been fit and well and is still a blood doner, so was a little scary.

Hopefully now I can breathe a sigh of relief, that is until she has a dental later this month.

Thanks again, oh, and she recovered enough to have a photo shoot with lovely Lucy and Nearly Vet Nurse Jess her assistant!!

Willow here, today is my ugh birthday. I should be really happy but I have just overheard a most distressing conversation. As many of you will know when one of us has a birthday or gotcha day we have a special treat of fish and chippies from the fish and chippy shop. Well, horror of horrors, I have just heard that is closed today. How dare they, it's my birthday, I would like to give them a piece of my mind, but there is not that much to go around, it would be a very short conversation indead! Oh, what's this? Panic over, I have just heard my mom say she will have to go and battle the Christmas shoppers and brave the supermarket (whatever that is) and buy us some fish and chippies for our dinner, although I am quite partial to mashed potato and oooh maybe some fishy cakes. I knew my mom wouldn't let us down. Have a great day all, and we are so happy to see the kennel dogs go out on Christmas foster, I hope that lots get lucky like us and get to stay with the lovely families that have taken them. Love Willow Pillow and the rest of the crew. Xxxxxxxx

Just a quick update on little Willow. She arrived home on Sunday afternoon, had a good look round. She did become a little stressed, quite understandably as new hoomans, new house, and a floor she does not like!!! She slept upstairs and we did not hear a peep out of her. Monday I managed to book the day off, so was at home with her and Stevie & Sarah. Again she was a little stressed, but with lots of toys and the floor being covered to make it easier for her to get around she settled. Yesterday, when I went to work she apparently cried and barked, but she did settle. Last night there was a great improvement with the flooring situation and she had a ball playing with all the toys, that was until Stevie took them upstairs one by one, only for us to bring them back down for her. Again she slept upstairs and was an little angel. This morning she went out, had breakfast and trotted around quite happily. I came out to work and as I left she was on the sofa throwing a pheasant and a duck around. She is so lovely and the others are great with her too. Will have to see how she has been when I get home (my Boss has been letting me leave a bit earlier each day this week, although there is generally someone in at various times of the day). Willow I hope you settle quickly and enjoy your time with us. xxxxxx
