Thank you for all your kind words, they are a real comfort to us at this difficult time, we so miss or boy but we knew we had to let him go. Dexter or Doodles as we liked to call him was such a character, stubborn, feisty, funny, gentle and sometimes a bit of an old grump, especially in the morning. He was at is happiest being grumpy bless him, our lives are so much richer for having loved him. Rest easy sweetheart xxxxx

It is with a very heavy heart that I'm saying this, but yesterday we said goodbye to our beloved Dexter, at 12 1/2 we know he had a great life with us and up until 2 weeks ago was still the feisty, bouncy boy he had always been, a bit wobbly at times but mostly ok for a handsome boy of his age. His legs finally began letting him down to the point we had to make that awful decision to let him go to join his beloved brother Jack over the bridge. No matter that he never liked other dogs, not even Greyhounds sometimes, but he was a gentle soul who loved people and was oh so gentle with the grand children, he absolutely loved his food and walks and was a real snuggle monster that could lean for England. Thank you Daybreaks for letting us adopt this very special boy, he has brought us so much joy over the years, we are utterly devastated but at the same time know that we have made the right decision to let him go. We will miss you so much, you will be forever in our hearts, goodnight Doodles, sleep tight until we meet again. Love Mom, Pops ad Douggie xxxx

Happy 12th birthday to our very handsome boy Dexter (aka Doodles), can't believe he's 12, certainly doesn't always act like it!!, he's a bit wobbly some days but he's on medication for his arthritis, then other days he's running around the patio like a 2 year old. He's having Sainsburys Taste the difference sirloin steak for his dinner, he's going to share it with best brother Douggie ( I haven't told him that yet, he won't be very pleased knowing Dex lol), and he is going to be spoilt rotten- just a typical day really. We nearly lost him a couple of years ago, he was extremely ill with a mystery illness, but he's a tough old boot, he bounced back and he's still a sturdy old chap, bit of an old grump in the morning (hubby says he takes after me), but we love this grey faced old boy to bits. I'm so glad Dexter has settled in so well. We have found the Tuesday night training class really useful for helping Dingo get used to other dogs as it is a mixed breed class but they are all on leads and can get used to each other at their own speed. Classes should be starting again in a fortnight. Details are on the left. X

Hello again, thought you might like an update on the delightful Dexter!. Well, Dexter really loves his new home, he is such a happy boy, bouncy and full of fun and life. Cant believe a he has done 126 races, he has got so much energy!! He greets you every morning with a waggy tail and a little jig. He loves his walks and his food and is a real mummys boy (bit of a stalker really). Hes such a character and makes us laugh all the time, its like having a toddler around, hes into everything, such a nosy boy, but we love him to bits. Hes still not great with other dogs, not aggressive but he just gets exceited and wants to rush at them, which is not a good idea sometimes, they dont like it for some reason!, but every walk is a training session and in the last week he seems to have turned a bit of a corner and is much calmer..hes very strong so this is good news for us lol. At the moment he is sunning himself on the decking laid on a nice soft duvet - he seems to be enjoying his retirement and that is what we wanted and what he deserves. xxxxx

Dexter, it was lovely to hear from you about how well you are getting on in your new home. It sounds like you are having fun getting to know Bridget and learning all about life in the outside world. Hi, Dexter here, thought id just log on for a quick update while my mum is busy in the kitchen....well, its great here, good grub, 5 beds to choose from (but i have to share them with my sister Bridget, and she is known as Queen of the beds, so i usually get one she doesnt want!). We go on lots of walks with my new chums. Dad is pack leader, but ive got mum exactly where i want her (that was easy). Ive heard them say that im very cute, and I get called Good Boy a lot too. Me and Bridget had a play this morning in the garden and toys were flying everywhere - it was brill, but Bridget got a bit giddy and started to play bark so I ran and hid behind mum until she calmed down, and mum laughed for some strange reason. I keep jumping on mums bed even though Ive been told not to, but I dont think she minds too much, but I just cant resist it. Anyway, must dash, think mums coming. Bye for now xx

Dexter Update: - What a lovely boy Dexter is turning out to be, after a few days of being a bit unsure and a little bit insecure, he woke up on Saturday morning a different dog! Dont know what he was dreaming of but he is now totally settled, calm and a very happy boy with a real spring in his step. He really does make us laugh, he is a real character and soooooo nosy! He has been on lots of super walks with his new friends and never wants to get back in the car to go home. He will trap you in a corner if he can and squash upto you for a cuddle, and he can snuggle for England xxx

Dexter is settling in really well, loving his walks and cuddles. He is following us everywhere at the moment, but im sure he will not do it so much when he feels more secure. He is very funny, and so nosy, he is into everything and just loves to explore. He has been on a walk today with his sister Bridget and Murphy the Greyhound, we passed a few other breeds and he wasnt sure, was very strong on the lead, but he got better the more we passed. All in all, hes been a good boy and we look forward to having him in our family. Thankyou again for looking after him xx

Dexters mom here again, i would just like to say thankyou to all of you lovely people who have looked after Dexter while he has been waiting for a home. We will let you know how he settles in his new home, and you dont have to worry he will be very well looked after and have all the snuggles he wants - infact he will probably get fed up with us snuggling him lol xxx

Tomorrow this stunning boy will be ours, cant wait. Dexter has got lots of new friends waiting to meet him, Bridget, Murphy, Ellie, Meg, Dave and Alfie (a mixture of Greys and Whippets). Murphy our loving greyhound cant wait to meet Dexter cos Bridget and Murphy get on so well I am sure Dexter will make a wonderful addition to and Bridget's home. We are also looking forward to meeting him and giving him a big hug.

Ooops, got the date wrong, we dont collect Dexter until Sunday 19th May - just too eager!. Everybody wants to meet him, once he has settled in, so he can look forward to lots of cuddles coming his way x

We are the lucky people who have been adopted by Dexter! We wont be collecting him until 18th May as we go on holiday on 10th May, but we cant wait, and will be waiting at the gates @ 10.00am on the 18th. He will have a sister called Bridget (rescued greyhound) and a mom and dad who will adore him and give him everything he deserves, and all the love and affection he needs. We will keep you posted on his progress. Thanks for looking after him and keeping him safe until hes ours xx

I still love Dexter!! And was just a tiny bit happy and selfish that he was at the kennels today for me to snuggle with!! ;-) he will make someone or a family very happy! He may be big but he's not bouncy in your face and over the top, he is caring and all he wants to do is lean on U for a hug, today he was so funny, he trapped me in the kennel and wouldn't let me leave, he's so cute and amazing. I can imagine him sitting with one lucky person on their sofa snuggling while watching tv!! He's the best. X

Sadly the lovely Dexter is still in kennels after my holiday - but at least it meant I could have cuddles and a walk in the gorgeous sunshine with him today! He does love to be out on a walk, and enjoys investigating the hedgerows and bushes. Such a gentle giant of a boy, hoping someone falls in love with him soon. xxx

I cannot understand why this beautiful boy hasnt been snapped up, I absolutely adore him, with training he could be cat friendly, noooo I can't have any more!

We met Dexter a couple of weeks ago and he was such a big gentle boy. If we were looking for another grey he would be a real contender, it's such a shock that he hasn't found a home yet.

I love dexter! He's a big boy,but a quiet, beautiful softy! He doesn't pull on the lead and walks so calmly! He doesn't like living at the kennels so someone needs to rehome him soon. :-D

Never mind Dex, not everyone owns a cat and you are such a handsome lad I dont think you will be long without a sofa! x

Well, I got my cuddles with the lovely Dexter today. What a beauty he is - such a big, stocky boy who although he is strong on the lead, walks nicely and doesn't pull. He's such a handsome and friendly boy. xx
