Rip my little finchy. My heart broke yesterday when finding out u were going to have angel wings today. Me and ur dad never had a clue that u was very poorly as u was such a strong character and didn't let on anything other than ur poorly foot. I had a little smile on my face today tho finch knowing that u was loved and cared for so much in the very short time u was with ur new family. Them allowing u to close ur eyes for the last time outside in the sunshine is such a beautiful peaceful way. Rest easy baby girl until we meet again for lots of cuddles and fuss xxx

We asked to take Finch out into the garden at the vets as the sun was shining and she went to sleep in the warmth of the sun and being cuddled. Sleep tight precious - my heart is broken you could not have had longer.

Thank you Jill for meeting me at the vets - it meant an awful lot and made what is a very very difficult thing to do a little bit easier. x

I think over the last few years this is one of the saddest times I have read the discussion board. I was so apprehensive to log on this morning as it fills me with tears, I think because Finch's age is so close to Rose our beautiful greyhound.

I love the oldies and really feel for them that they need safe loving homes.

I have comfort to read that Finch has been so well cared by Ruth and Daybreaks.

Such a tragic story. I can't help but think about Finch's previous owner too, it's such a shame. Today is going to be difficult - I am taking Finch to the vets at 11am. She slept on our bed last night (now in the wash due to the amount of blood on it) and has just had a lovely breakfast of sausage and ham which she loved!

This morning will be not sad but a happy one of lots of cuddles due to the pleasure of having this beautiful girl be part of our lives for just a few days. The sad part is her prognosis which is out of my control so I have to concentrate on what I can do for her for the best and that is to make her as happy and comfortable as possible.

She is going to have me driving her crazy this morning smiling and chatting to her and taking lots of photos! She has such a happy waggy tail and has started smiling at me which I love :-)

I am sure Finch had a lovely day with Ruth today, will be thinking of you both tomorrow. xxx

Finch was so stressed yesterday when she arrived at the kennels. We spent some time with her trying to let her know that she was safe and would be loved and then today when Ruth brought her back up and told me the news I was gutted that she wasn't going to get the happy ending that she so deserves. Life is just so unfair sometimes! I sat with her today and she was a much more relaxed dog, all she wanted was fuss and was pawing at me for more. Such a beautiful, loving girl! I know that she will be thankful that her last few days will be one's filled with so much love! I just wish there could have been many more! X

I took the beautiful Finch to the vets today - very sadly, an ultra sound showed numerous large cancerous tumours in her abdomen (leiomyosarcoma's) and the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes. The vet advised that the kindest thing for Finch is not to let her continue to suffer as she is clearly in much discomfort. She has had some pain relief and I am going to spend the day tomorrow giving her lots of treats and cuddles before she gains her angel wings on Friday. I am so very very sad for her. x

Robbie picked up Finch from the kennels yesterday afternoon and brought her home. She was a little stressed to start with but soon settled down and has had a very quiet night.

This morning she has eaten all her breakfast and toileted outside. It appears she is in season and I am going to book her an appointment at the vets today as her teeth really need attention and she is limping on her front leg. She really is a beautiful girl - I really hope someone can offer her a lovely comfy retirement home... after all - she is 70 years old in dog/human years - she deserves it x

Finch has arrived at the kennels and she is a little sweetheart, a little shell shocked at the moment and a bit nervous, but is now fast asleep in the office. She is off to the Boswell hotel tonight and then to her foster home.
