Ripple, great to hear you and Tony are good. Sending you both a big cuddle! I still remember the day your Mom and Dad came to the kennels and fell in love with you. :) Enjoy your weekend walks with your Dad.

Hi everyone, quick update to let you all know that I'm still enjoying my life with Tony and our family on the Isle of Wight. I am slowing down a little and sometimes Tony goes for an evening walk without me, as my bed is so warm and cozy. When Dad is off work at the weekends we have to go for long walks to help him fit into his trousers.
Lots of love to all my friends, Ripple.

Ripple how lovely to hear from you! You must get your house servants to get their act together! Not good enough they nearly forgot your Birthday! :)) Can't believe you are now eleven!!

Great to hear you and Toney are loving your life by the sea. :) Say Hello to your Mom and Dad for me.

Lots of love Kate Xxx

Hi everyone, I am eleven now (much greyer than in these pictures) and my huservants almost forgot my birthday. I am still enjoying living near the sea, as I get lots of lovely walks and sometimes a nice sea breeze in the evenings when its hot. Toney loves walks on Tennyson down as there are lots of rabbits to smell and see. The soft grass is also kind to his corns and he even runs sometimes (too much like hard work for me, I might manage a trot if he is lucky).
Hope all my friends are well and everyone at the kennels is still doing amazing work, finding homes for us lovely hounds.
love Ripple and Toney.

Hi Kate, hope you are OK. Ripple is probably the kindest, softest, loving dog there has ever been. Many thanks for letting us have her in our lives. We still miss popping to the kennels for their pamper sessions, and the walks with other owners, but most of all we miss the kind people and their gorgeous Greyhounds.

Hi All, its Ripple (or mostly known as Gorgeous Lady). Its my 10th birthday today. I am still enjoying my retirement with Toney at the seaside. I am still very scared of lots of people and children, so its not easy finding quiet walks for me in the summer, but Dad knows some secret places to take us, that are always quiet. Hope everybody at the kennels are well and still finding amazing homes for us Greyhounds.
Lots of love Ripple.
PS Toney is much nicer to other dogs now, as long as they don't come to close.

Well, we have been on the Isle of Wight for a while now and I am really enjoying my walks. Mum takes us out for a good walk in the mornings around the roads and pavements (so Tony doesn’t see any dogs off the lead, he still does not like them). Mum & Dad take us for walks down to the sea most nights and we watch for any cruise liners going to sea. I seem to be able to walk much better down here, Mum thinks its cos its warmer, but it is really cos there are no children scaring me. We really miss our walks with our friends at Perry Barr/Cannock and our Pamper sessions with Lorna. Dad says that we are both having a bath as soon as the weather warms up and there is a nice lady in Bembridge who cuts our claws (I won’t let Mum or Dad near me with them things, I just squeal and squeal).
Lots of Love Ripple.

Hi Flashy and I went to see aunty Ruth today to get a nice winter coat and whilst I was their I had my nails cut and also helped aunty Ruth demonstrate my injury to some students that were at Daybreaks.
I saw lots of lovely people who looked after me during my short stay at Daybreaks back in May.
If mum and dad had room, I think Judy would have been in the car on the way home, as she did a fantastic job of kissing Flash and licking my ears.
Lots of Love Ripple.
PS Going now to give todays cuddle to Judy.

oops I've done flashys trick this week and pulled my nail clean out when I was playing in the garden, mum new just what to do and bandaged by paw up and took me to the vets where I was brave and had one injection and a nice pink bandage put on. When we got home mum showed me the tablets I had to take (how did the vet do it they were the same colour as my bandage amazing) The bandage is now off thanks to mum and a bit of chewing by myself as I thought she needed the help. I'm now back to having walks with flashy big bum but they are shorter than normal as my paw is still a bit tender. XX

hi all, sorry you've not heard from me for a while as ive been busy being flashes bestest friend infact we are like an old married couple now we don't like to be apart. Today we went to the fountain school fete and boy was it hot infact there was a greyhound stand there and flashy lay down on the duvet in the back of the stand and i stood in the back having strokes of the children and adults. mum and dad took wet towels for us to wear at the fete but they then spotted a cool coat that you wet and put on us so of course we had one each and the lady at the stand was very kind and went off to wet the coats for us so we could wear them to go home in and i must say it was lovely infact i even went to sleep in my bed when i got back with it over me like a blanket. xxxx

Thanks for the tip about ears i will have to try it. A big hi to my sister tinker. Went over brankley pastures tonight and we had to go through a dog stile well flashy did it no problem but when it came to my turn i froze and my harness nearly came over my head and no matter how many come on ripple you can do it they said my legs just wouldn't work so the fat bloke (bless him) came back and picked me up like a baby (one minute i was frozen to the spot and the next i was in his arms and carried through the gate looking so cute, georgous and floppy) don't think flashy was impressed as he just walked on. After that we walked over the fields and back to the car. I think this year from santa i will ask for roller skates as boy does this family like their walks. I think i will have to find my paper work out that i came with and show them as i'm sure it says two 20mins walk a day. I keep hearing the name cromford canal and what a lovely walk it looks and we will have to go there one day with the dogs, all i can say is does anyone have a number for the taxi to get me back to the car park.

Woof, woof Ripple, love it. Sounds like you've got your slaves (whoops hoomans) wrapped round your paws. I do the same with the car, even got my slaves (whoops, hoomans) to buy a different car, but I'm still too much of a lady to jump in. Try this one Ripple, I lie on my bed looking at my Mommy with my big cute eyes. Then, start to rub your foot over your ears. Big tip, never break eye contact. My Mommy then comes and gives me ear rubs. If she stops I'll hook my foot over her arm so she gets the message and she rubs my ears again. Like you say Ripple, they're total suckers, but you gotta love 'em! Love Emily xxxxx

Well its nearly two weeks since i moved in and flashy has finally stopped growling at me when i go near his bed. I am starting to play with him in the garden but i still get nervous and want to come in. Yesterday mum put the washing on the line and i was ok until the wind moved the washing and then it was straight into the garage for me. I've also found that if flashy gets in the car first i give the puppy dog eyes to mum and dad as i am retired you know and it works as they feel sorry for me and pick me up and put me in the car (suckers) . We have tuna on our food and chicken pieces before mum goes to work and we get cuddles when she gets back and cuddles when kieran gets home and cuddles when the fat bloke gets home. I still love you aunty Ruth but boy have i landed on my feet here. XXX

well back to school and work for the humans today and i coped ok with the routine of being left whilst she went to her dinner job, flash is a big baby and cries when left but i just got on with it. Went to barton marina for the evening walk tonight and it was lovely but i didn't like the gravel paths so i managed to walk the whole way round on the grass verge by the path(must be a first for a dog) We said hello to the ducks and fed them some bread, off home now for a nap. x

It’s been a week since I moved into this mad kennel in Burton and I have found it quite stressful (lots of strange noises and smells), although I am starting to feel more at home as the humans are kind and I feel safe enough to lie on my back now to get tummy rubs, which send me to sleep.
My new bed arrived today, but Flash can have it as I like his bed, the new one does not smell nice! Flash still growls when I come near him in his bed (even now he has a new one), I don’t really understand as he likes being with me when walking, and when he growls he only gets told off by the humans. I went near him tonight in his new bed and he didn’t growl, this got him lots of ‘good boy’ chants and fuss from the fat bloke. All Flash has to do is look at him with those large brown eyes and he gets away with anything, as my eyes are much smaller I have decided to rub into him with my head to get some fuss and then look up at him, that should do the trick. I have discovered that if I do as I am told (lie down in the car, go to ‘a bed’ when told) then I get ‘good girl’ chants and that makes me feel good.

Many thanks for the info on the bed and the link, unfortunately we have already ordered the exact same bed that Flash has for Ripple. THe bed he has is quite expensive for a dog bed, but all the covers are removalable and washable(http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/dogs/dog_beds_baskets/square_dog_beds/waterproof/213575). Flash has loved it since we got it for him, so much so that he sometimes can't be bothered to leave it for the sofa at night.
Thanks again for the info.

So nice to hear all is going well. I bought Bob a new bed....it arrived on the Wednesday afternoon and I hadn't even got the inner cushion into the actual bed and he got in it and only got out for his midnight wee. I think he spent all of Thursday day and night in it, only popping out for morning wees, brekkie, morning walk, afternoon wees, dinner, walk.
HE LOVED IT!!!
Unfortunately for him, Orla arrived Friday afternoon....came in the house and got straight in his bed.
The look on his face was priceless!
'MUM....MUM...she's in MY bed!!!!' :-(
He let her stay there though and a week later he got in with her. The bed is fab and plenty big enough for both of them together
This is it:
http://www.kumfipetproducts.co.uk/prods/large_fleece_dog_dumpling.html

They are on Facebook.....if you look at 'Posts by others' you will see lots of pics of Greys in their beds.

We have recommended the bed to about a dozen people and they are all delighted :-)

Ripple is still on her best behaviour, she has seen all sorts of small animals on her walks (including dogs, ducks, geese, swans and CATS) and has shown no reaction at all. She loves her food and is starting to discover how comfortable retirement can be. Unfortunately this is at Flash's expense as she has commandeered his bed. He has been quite good about it so far and only grumbles when he is in it and she tries to get in as well, we will have to raid the piggybank and buy another one.
