A huge thank you for your gift today, sorry I just could not wait until Christmas to open it !!!!! I have shown the picture to Bertie, and Mindy will take centre stage on our sideboard along with Charlie ( my special old boy who I sadly lost 18 months ago ) these dogs have such a special place in our hearts and will never be forgotten, Mindy lives on through all of her babies, Bertie has inherited his moms wonderful gentle personality, he is just so special to us and one of Mindys other boys, Martie looks so like his mom and is also an amazing lad, as I am sure was Pippa, we are all so Lucy to have had time with these wonderful Monkspath and icemaid hounds, thank you again xxxxx!!

Thank you for all your messages, I have a big boy asleep on his bed next to me !! The vets opened up the wound but could not find anything, they x rayed it and it looks like the bone has arthritis and a degenerative condition and so they have sent some off to do a biopsy !! I am so relieved though as I was so worried about
Blade going under general anaesthetic!! He is going to have extra hugs and kisses for the next few days !! X

Jay had this problem, he cut his pad on glass, after several courses of various antibiotics and an operation to reopen the wound to wash it out, it still wouldn't heal properly.
He ended up having his toe removed which sorted the problem.
It certainly doesn't worry him!

Hope Blade is OK. Waiting for news is so horrible but hope they get to the bottom of his toe trouble.xx

I have a horrible wait today as my lovely big boy blade cut one of his pads open last week, he has had a course of antibiotics but it is still really swollen and is still bleeding, we went back to the vets on Monday ( and saw Black and white Bert greyhound who was homed in March, he was there with a poorly tummy) but it still isn't right so claire the vet is giving him a general anaesthetic today so she can have a proper route around ! So we have a horrid waiting day ahead of us, I just hate to have him put under anesthetic at his age it really worries me !
Roll on 4pm when we will no more, blade and Bertie will be having steak for tea xxx

Thank you so much for my birthday wishes I have had a lovely birthday I have been out over the fields with my brother Bertie and had lots of visitors I had cake and cake and nanny gave me chicken ummm I am now unrecognisable ( mom says ) as I have gained so much weight and all my bald bits have gone I am so grateful for everyone's best wishes and look forward to strutting my stuff at the open day !! Ruth enjoy your day off you most definitely deserve a day with your own doggies especially after all your hard work and effort yesterday !!!! It was lovely to see so many people at the kennels enjoying the dogs and the burgers !! Blade and Bertie would like to thank Robbie for his sausages, they came home so tired that I never heard a peep out of the pair of them until 8am this morning, which is a miracle for Bertie who gets me up promptly every morning at 6am !!!! Really well done everyone for another successful amazing day xxxx( the greys are so lucky to have you Ruth)

Unfortunately I am not going on the walk tomorrow as I am helping out at the kennels ! However Roy may come along with Bertie and blade !!
We are off to France in two weeks time until October , but perhaps when I return we could arrange to meet up for a walk ???
This may sound like a stupid question, but we have followed your advise on the coconut oil you can eat for blades bad dry skin !! We have bought the coconut milk in a can and also a bar of it that you chop up but we are not sure now what to do with it !! Ha ha do we rub the milk on this coat or feed it to him .... P,ease don't laugh ! Please help xx

Greys getting their passports.........how lovely to read about Blade and Sparky getting their passports and having wonderful new lives. I saw Sparky again earlier this week and he looks so sleek and shiny and wonderful. And such a happy ending for Blade. Brilliant. xx

Just a Blade update !!
We went to get Blade his passport today and what a well behaved boy he was, his weight is now 32 KG which is great news but his skin is very dry and flakey and so the vet gave us a little something to pop in with his food to sort this out and there seems to be the start of some regrowth of hair on his bare bottom ( as he currently looks like a babboon ) he is starting to be a much happier boy and has a bit of a spring in his step, it really feels like he has been here ages I just could not have had a more perfect fit for all of us !! although Roy has had to give up his beloved car today and get a more sensible two dog option !! I will be making it official this weekend so all being well his sign will go green !! I cannot thank Ruth enough for the two beautigul dogs we have been blessed with xx

Well he has only been with us a week ( was supposed to be a few days ) but Bade is such an amazing boy we just could not let him go, he has toatlly melted our hearts and fits in with Bertie perfectly, I know now that I am not 'foster' material !! but at least we will give Blade the best life that we can x

How fabulous that Blade doesn't have to pack his suitcase and move home. Daisydog and I are delighted and know he will have a super life with you. xx

I hope Blade is going were I think, but anyway a home with a loving people is all they wish for.

Blade is visiting Daybreaks this morning, to update his photo, he was having a bad hair day when the current one took.
Going and say hello, you will be rewarded with a way tail.

The Blade update, just got back from pets at home having weighed him and the good news is another 0.5 kg gain.
Now instead of a food monster he's become a fussy eater, think Bertie may have something to do with this. He as gained some of his strength back, but he enjoys his bed, even turning down a walk yesterday.
He's one Good looking chap and gets attention where ever we go, very easy on the lead, no pulling what's so ever, even when a rabbit ran across our path, while Bertie, ears up and off. Round the house he's a perfect house guest, no mess even when he had an upset stomach.
In view of his history think he would suit an older owner, without young children, he does seem to enjoy being quiet, however his aunty Ruth would know better than us.
We would love for him to go straight to a forever home, so if anyone wonts to come here to meet Blade or if someone wonts us to take him to meet you then let Daybreaks know.
He is one special hound that will bring a lot of happiness to a home.

Took Blade into pets at home this morning and the great news is he as put on nearly 4 kg, we then went for a walk along the greenway with a friend of mine who as a small mongrel. I am pleased to report no problems, Blade was the perfect gentleman, Bertie just did his usual aloof thing and marched on.
They are both back at home chilling out with their paws up.

We have had Blade now for a couple of days and what a fantastic boy he is , He is looking like he is starting to gain weight but I am going to have him weighed today to make sure and see how much he is putting on.
He is excellent with my Bertie, from the off no problems at all they mostly ignore each other but even close up in the car they find their own space. Blade really would make the most wonderful companion for someone, he is just the most gorgeous looking boy who is fully house trained, although he is a food monster he does not jump up and i think he only wants food so much because at the moment he is just sooo hungry, however he is starting to leave some of his dried food now and is concentrating on the good bits i give him ( which there are plenty of at the moment whilst we are trying to fatten him up)and Blade sleeps straight through the night, Bertie gets us up at 7am otherwise Blade would sleep until later. I have totally fallen for this boy and would ideally love him to go to his forever home straight from ours as he has lived in a house some some years now. Blade is a quiet boy, very gentle and loving, his personality is starting to show but I think he would need to go somewhere where people are around most of the day or with another dog, only because he is used to having his owner around in the day and his whole world has been turned upside down latley, please if you are interested in Blade you could come and see him in our home environment or we can bring him to the kennels.
As I said previously I really haven't got the words to say what a special beautiful and gentle boy Blade is , if I were in the position to have another then Blade would definitely be the one !

I am so pleased blade has found a foster mum. I have been thinking about him so much and was going to see if daisy dog is ready to be a foster sister yet over the next few days. It's just so lovely to know he is getting extra cuddles .

Well as I said on my previous post I just could not sop thinking about Blade, after reading Ruth's post I thought that I would offer to bring him home with me for a few days, and so I am sitting on the sofa with Blade lying on the floor next to me and Bertie next to Blade, he has only been here a few hours but has been a pleasure to have, he toileted outside helped himself to a very large bone Bertie had disgaurded in the garden and now is totally flat out !! I feel so desperate for him he looks such a skeleton at the moment but his little face and bright eyes just melt your heart!! I will lt you know how he gets on over the next few days, I cannot tell you how special he is.

How did blade get on at vets a bought his weight xx

I really do hope Blade is OK. I met him yesterday when I called in for food and got 'trapped' in the office during the thunderstorm which hit just after 4pm.
He is quite simply a gorgeous boy and such a gentle soul and I hope the Daybreaks TLC will do the trick. xxx

I brought Blade home with me yesterday as, despite feeding him loads extra, he has still lost more weight. I am taking him to the vets for a check today but he has been very settled overnight and enjoyed the burgers and sausages we cooked for him on the BBQ! Harry was paired with the lovely Bambi and they have been very content and settled all night.

I have to say I have totally fallen in love with this boy, if I was in the position to have another Blade would be the one !! I really hope Harry & Blade find a new home really soon, it is just so sad I cannot stop thinking about them, it is really heart breaking to see, they look thinner in real life than thier pictures show, and yet they both have such waggy tails and love to have a fuss, this is why I am totally in love with Greyhounds !! there will never be another breed for me !!

I met this most beautiful boy today. It is so, so sad for him & Harry and they must wonder what on earth is happening to them. Despite this, he is such a friendly boy and actually wags his tail in greeting, and was happily enjoying his treats this afternoon. We will build him up and hopefully a new home won't be long in coming for him and his pal. Big hugs sweetheart. xx
