Hi kizz. There are loads of different theories on what causes bald patches. Our little girl Millie, gets patches on her flanks around this time of the year....we think it is caused by stress, because of fireworks. Do you add oil to her food...either Yumega or cod liver oil....it does seem to help. We also find that gently brushing the affected area with a soft brush serms to stimulate the hair follicles. l would'nt worry unduly, it's a common problem with greys, and it will almost certainly clear up in time. l am sure you will get plenty of useful advice. XXX.

Helloooo . Ive a ? . Last few days Kizzy seems to be going a bit thin on the bottom of her back and top of her tail. Seems a bit patchy . Skin isn't sore or flakey and she's very happy in her self . Have read several articles on it and it appears it can be anything from a diet problem to serious illness . Should I be worried?

My mums knitting when missing today and after a short search we found it on Kizzys bed .... she hadn't destroyed it she was just looking after it :) and looked very pleased with herself.

Kizzy was very reluctant to go for a walk today she took one look out of the door and obviously thought not on your Nellie mate I am not going out there today ... to windy and wet :) . We got there in the end though lol.

She is so so settled here now and really part of the family

Was good to see so many at Stratford last Saturday , it never ceases to amaze me how generous the public are with their donations . will defo be there next time.

See some of you Sunday , will be there

Hi Kizzy(WIZZY). My boy Gent damaged his tail about 3 years ago. He had an injury to about the bottom 3 inches of his tail and lost all the hair. He had to have dressings for a couple of months, but a couple of weeks after the dressings finished, we could see very fine hairs coming back and eventually it all came back. Does look a bit weird without hair though doesn't it?! Mand x

Don't worry too much about Kizzy's tail being bald, Bertie is a real tail wager and it did keep bleeding when we first had him 18 months ago, it did heal and was bald for quite a Long time, but the fur did eventually grow back but it took quite a while !!! Also blades tail was a little fur less when we had him but 7 months on it is a real thick furry tail !!!

I have a question ..... yay! :) . A couple of weeks ago Kizzy gave the tip of her tail a good wallop while very excited about going for a walk . It started bleeding (was like a scene from the "chainsaw massacre". Tail wagging blood spraying everywhere lol) . Its all ok now, healed up and not sore but she has a bald tip to her tail now with noooo sign of any hair re growth . Will it come back ?. Doesn't matter in the slightest if doesn't, I just wondered. Have encountered bleeding tails before but not missing hair unless she licked it off while cleaning it

It is fantastic to watch Kizzy race around the field .... she loves it and when I shout her name she just stops and stays and waits for me

She did get her first ticking off yesterday though .........she had a bit of a chew, well quite a big chew . She decided to get to work on my jacket and relieve it of its stuffing. She knew she was naughty though it was all in the eyes lol . RIP my jacket .

See some of you in Stratford on Saturday . Looking forward to it

Is it OK to pay the kennels a visit one day this week with Kizzy? Need to buy her a decent coat . Looked online but am baffled by the number available to buy/ sizes/ and reviews . So I reckon its easier to get one from daybreaks at least I will know it fits.

Really enjoyed the Stratford walk yesterday and so did Kizzy .Was a beautiful sunny morning was great to see so many people out. Didn't really know what to expect as it was my first one but will defo be back for the next.

She had her first visit to my local pub Saturday night which went down very well with her , lots of fuss and cuddles , a run round with the pubs 2 little dogs then found the open log fire. She was a very happy girl and I got to stay in the pub longer than I expected I would be able to :)

Will be at Pets at Home on the 8th , after all if it wasn't for the last awareness day Kizzy would never have entered our lives.

So pleased to hear how well Kizzy has settled into her new home and in such a short time too.
Its great to hear the feedback from doing roadshows and to know that besides raising valuable funds they can help to find such fabulous homes for our wonderful Daybreaks dogs.
Look forward to seeing you soon Kizzy on one of our Stratford events.

Hi All

just want to give you an update on how Kizzy is doing

She is having a great time and we are having noooooo problems whatsoever , she is a joy to have in our family and our other little dog Paddy loves having the company , they both love snuggling up to each other. Every day that passes Kizzy is becoming more relaxed every day that passes and loves to play, our children adore her and give her lots of cuddles and fuss.

Kizzy has mastered the stairs now, they were obviously very daunting for her to begin with and the novelty of climbing them has not worn off yet , she loves to go up and down up and down , her tail wagging and her ears up. She was also very unsure of the tele to start with but now loves to look at her reflection in it :)

She is beginning to do what she is told as she is a very stubborn young lady but loves the praise when she has been a good girl .

We have had no accidents in the house and always asks to go out when she needs to go which we find amazing and doesn't mind being left on her own , she crys for a few mins but soon settles down.

We are so pleased you were out side Pets at Home the other week , it just shows that it really is worth doing and if we can ever help you in any way please just shout.

Kizzy and I have just returned from a long walk and she is now spark out on her bed where I expect she will stay for a few hours ready for lots more fuss when our children return from school :)

Take Care

Ian and Terri x

Kizzy has some pics to show you all but she is unsure who to send them to.

Kizzy tackled her first flight of stairs today and was very pleased with her self when she got to the top and then tried out every bed for comfort :). Its like I said to her "if the daleks can conquer stairs then so can you" :)

She is getting on very well with Paddy he even let her try out his basket which must be at least 5 times to small for her (was very funny)

Kizzy slept soundly all night , hasn't tackled the stairs yet but don't think it will be long. Popped into Stratford this morning for a couple of hrs and left Kizzy with free run of the house and no problems there. Its her 4th Birthday today so got her a new jazzy pink house collar. All over the moon .

Happy New Year to you all
