Well....... we have had this lovable loon for a year now then - and she still shows no signs of calming down! We are convinced she is part collie or springer spaniel - she has a 1hr - 1.5 hour walk in the mornings and then still dashes into the garden to play when you get home. Then the same in the afternoon! The 'snoozy grehound' tag certainly doesn't apply to her. She adores cuddles on the sofa and is a proper daddies dog. Sadly she didn't celebrate her gotcha day in the greatest fashion - instead she had an emergency operation to remove a large splinter from her paw - and now she cant be walked for 10 days. Bearing in mind, what I have said above - that could be interesting as she is already stir crazy only 1.5 days later! Indeed - we seem to be going through the wars with the girls at the moment. Smartie has only just come off a temporary diet of renal food following an unexplained kidney scare which has hopefully righted itself now; Angel has been unwell following ingestion of lego(!) and so is currently on a special diet for a week or so to sort that; and Tilly went in for an op yesterday which has potentially diagnosed a degenerative muscle disease worsened by racing. Just hoping that Rhia stays fit and healthy - but currently feeling like we live at the vets, so hoping all are on the mend and that we are just getting everything out of the way in one hit!

Only popped outside to clear up the garden and the next minute, Smartie was running around with a tennis ball like a complete nutter!!! She has definitely found a partner in crime in Tilly and whilst Angel is not so playful, it was nice to see her and Smartie have a quiet wander around the garden together and they are now both passed out in the lounge at at my feet with Tilly having all their beds to herself. It is however official that Smartie is a looney tune!!

Hmm, 1st evening in a new home with new people, 2 other dogs and a cat so Smartie will be a bit nervous and unsure of herself, right? Not a blooming bit of it! She has explored, she has been on sofas and beds, she has played chase with Tilly (inside and out) and is currently flaked out on the living room floor panting like a demon having spent a mad 5 minutes 'killing' the ferret squeaky toy in the garden. What a start ;o)

Hello Dannie. Smartie is a lovely, lively girl who loves her walks, but she really needs the company of another dog and people around her to feel happy and secure. She is presently in a foster home with 3 other dogs and loves to play, we can arrange for her to come in, or why not pop along to the kennels to have a look at the boys & girls, we will be happy to show you round.

Hello, I'm new to the site, and I am looking to adopt a fairly young and active greyhound or lurched. Smartie looks gorgeous, and just wondering if she likes her walks etc or is she a very sleepy greyhound? Thanks!

Smartie has spent the day at Moreton Morrell Open Day where she has proved to be an absolute star.
Theres no way to fault this girl. She just loves meeting people of all ages and sizes. There are no problems with any other breeds and was a perfect traveller in the car. Whoever is able to offer her a permanent home will be getting a dog with a wonderful loving nature.

Smartie is such a friendly girl and just loves being around people and loves the company of other dogs.I have left her for short periods and she has been fine with my three dogs. She is very nosey around the house. She is toilet trained and great with the cats indoors and likes to chase them in the garden along with naughty Sunny my whippet . Smartire is great with kids and with all dogs small or large. She would suit a part time worker with a dog or other dogs. xxx

Agree with Ruth. We have chickens and cockerels in the garden which to Champ are amazingly interesting. Over the last few weeks we have been training him to leave them alone. He will still chase them given half a chance so we watch him and them very carefully but he is slowly learning that they are not his playthings - it just takes patience and time xx

Ruths right with patience and a bit of work greyhound can learn to except small furriers when Minnie came to live with us we had two rabbits and within a week with a bit of training she was very happy with them and would lie by the cages and let one of them nibble her fur . Good luck smartie I'm sure there is a sofa out there just for you x

Smartie went out yesterday afternoon but sadly came back this morning. She found the indoor guinea pig and free range chickens in the garden quite interesting! There were also initial grumbles but this is very normal.

I did train Shrew to accept my friend's guinea pig and mine have got used to our chickens and ducks....(although Joe and Maggie are still quite intrigued and given half a chance would have a fresh chicken dinner but they are safely away now at the end of the garden).

It just takes a bit of time and patience so if you do have small furries - please don't be put off by this comment for Smartie. She is eager to learn, so very loving and wants a home to call her own x
