Our beautiful, gentle and sassy girl has crossed Rainbow Bridge today at the grand age of 13 1/2. Always with the waggiest tail, we will miss her forever. Fly high Milly with our love surrounding you. Xx

Hi Helen&Dave, have you tried cutting out treats to see if that helps her vomiting and gurgly tummy?
Some ideas for food - normal diet or something quite bland like some chicken
Try feeding smaller meals a few times a day.

Hope this helps ????

So, our Milly is now 13 1/2 and up till now has been quite healthy. However the last 2 to 3 weeks her stomach has been making the most awful gurgling noises all the time when lying down, she's been sick a couple of times and she has also lost a bit of weight. The vet did blood tests but they all came back ok. She is still quite perky and asks to go for her little walk each morning, barking at the squirrels and cats as normal! She has also got very picky with food. Has anyone else experienced this at all? Having a bit of a panic as she is due to stay with our son and his wife in a fortnight while we are on holiday.

Happy 13th birthday to our beautiful Milly. Still seems to think she's a puppy at times and still a demanding diva but always our much loved little girl.

Hi Helen and Dave - who are you insured with and what policy do you have? If it is Petplan I’m happy to speak to them for you. If your policy is ‘cover for life’ - it will be covered. If you are in tomorrow I can look at it for you x

Your Vet should tell your insurers this fact.
Monty has had several Corns and Pet Plan have paid up for each one

Just wondered if anyone has been in this situation. Milly had a corn removed at the vets a couple of weeks ago and has had some complications with an infection which is still being treated at present. We put in an insurance claim and have had a letter today saying they won't pay out as she had a corn removed back in 2015. This doesn't seem right as it's not an ongoing thing and in a different place to the first one. Has anyone else had trouble like this when putting in claims for corn removal? xx

Last Wednesday Milly started limping on her front right leg. She yelped if I touched the outer toe area. We visited the vet on Fri and they did an x ray but said no bones were broken and it was probably a sprain. Prescribed Metacam and rest. She is still limping though, although she jumps on and off the sofa with no trouble and it dosn't seem to bother her when sleeping. Has anyone else has similar with their hound and how long would a sprain take to go right? Not sure whether to make another visit to vet or give it another few days. Xx

Returned from our 10 day holiday yesterday to find Milly having problems with her left back leg. The dog sitter said it had only started on Saturday evening and can't think of any time Milly could have hurt it. She is very reluctant to put her foot down, although after being up and around a bit she will put it on the floor but still not properly weight bearing. She isn't yelping and she let's me touch her foot and leg OK. Can't see any problem with her paws or toes. Have given her some metacam but if no better tomorrow looks like a trip to vets. Just wondered if anyone had had a similar problem with their hound. Xx

Can I echo what Ruth has said, I had our first grey for 13 years, an only dog and never wanted two !! When Charlie passed away we had Bertie from Daybreaks and ended up fostering blade, it has totally transformed my view on having one dog !! Bertie now has a friend and it has taken the emphasis off us, there are now four in our pack and although they are never really left alone as they come to work with us, they do spend a lot of time in the car together, and we do feel under less pressure as they have each others company, fostering is an excellent idea as it is helping a hound in need with no pressure to make it permanent and also the most important thing is that is the right hound for Milly !

Hi Helen, have you tried all the techniques in the training guide you borrowed? Would you like one of us to come out and help with training? I will see you tomorrow so we can have a chat x (perhaps a friend for her would help tho! You could always foster.......) x

Very concerned about Milly's continuing separation anxiety. If we leave her for even a short while she is getting very distressed. The howling has now been added to with barking and today we came home to find she had weed on the floor. We have tried leaving on music, leaving a Kong, tried shutting curtains but nothing helps. Trying to get her used to us leaving by putting on and taking off coats, going outside for a couple of minutes then coming back without fuss but so far it doesn't seem to be working. Has anyone experienced this and have any ideas what to do.? Any ideas welcome! Thanks. Helen

millie travelled beautifully in the car on our way home. just lay quietly in the back. seems to be settling in well, she has a good sniff round the house and garden, been for a short walk, thrown a few toys about, eaten her dinner and is now fast asleep! seems a very happy girl with a constantly wagging tail. so glad we chose her.
