Hi Linda

Alfie had a sensitive stomach so we had to be careful what he had to eat. The only dried food we found that he enjoyed and suited him was called ‘Simply’, it comes in different flavours for sensitive stomachs and for seniors. The also have a moist food which we used to give to Alfie occassionally just to give him a change. Have a look at their website, it is not the cheapest food but it worked for us and Alfie loved it. Good luck.

Hi Linda

I have been asked to post the following information to you from Pip's Mom. Pip also has a sensitive tummy...

"Pip eats James Wellbeloved Fish &Veg, it is completely grain free. Arden Grange do a fish & veg grain free kibble and tinned food but only in Adult not senior. Pip also has Protexin Bio Premium which is a prebiotic. It helps the mucosa. They also do Protexin Bio Soluable. Which is good. Hope this might help Zeta if she is allowed fish."

Kind regards

Xxx

Hi

Zetas Mum has asked me to post the information below on here.
Can anyone with any advice please drop her a email? Her name is Linda.

Thank you.

My greyhound has had inflammation of the large and small intestines. Tests on bloods and stools have all come back clear, so the vet’s explanation is food intolerance. The vet has put her on Purina pro Hypoallergenic plan vet, which is small kibbles and expensive, but more important she will not eat it on its own, so I am having to put some bits of lamb and sweet potato in it.

The vet said if she won’t eat the food on its own, the only option is to keep her on steroids permanently, which can damage her liver and kidney over time.

I know it’s common in greyhounds to have sensitive digestive system, so there is probably people out there who have been where I am now that could give me advice on what food they switched to that their dog ate with some interest and enjoyment without having to add meat, which is defeating the object of no protein in the diet.

She is having monthly B12 injections at the moment too.

Could you please send your experiences and advice to me ASAP

Feel free to email me on coleman_linda@hotmail.co.uk

Hi, just to let you know zeta seems to be doing OK. Her being fostered in a house without dogs and OK being left was what swung it for me big time after the long heartbreaking time with lexie destroying everything including the cage before eventually settling. She shares my bedroom and runs wild with squeeky monkey and like me to lie and settle her to bed. Sleeps through no problem. She is left alone in the day and I find myself rushing home to greet her and smile as I see her flaked out on the settee, despite knowing out of bounds when we home, so I like to think going to work gives her something to smile about knowing she'll be able to go on there. She loves her doggie puzzles and thinks if she sits nice with that gorgeous pleading face she will get what she is after. I am not sad she was returned because I believe she was always ours and had to come back so we could have her. She is so chilled feels like she has been here ages but actually less than 2 weeks. Brilliant when took her to introduce to the vets and her first health check. We been doing bit of recall and leave etc in reparation for training at Sally's classes. Nanny and Grandad love her to bit as do we. Thank you to everyone involved in looking after our Zeta till we were ready to come and get her and thank you so much to Ruth and Lisa for recognising her as the one for us. in less than a week she is upsidedown legs stretched and being spoiled with love and fuss. Needs bit of fattening up but vets very happy with her and said she is gorgeous. He was very happy to see us in better circumstances and glad we adopted another greyhound. Rest assured she is being well loved and taken care of and seems to be settled and I hope she carries on as she is because that makes me really happy.

As has already been said so sad. I had one particularly naughty grey who chewed everything. He nearly went back to dogs trust twice. We then tried a crate when we were out. He used to know when we were going out went straight in with food and water and felt safe. Gradually we left him out for longer periods of time. 4 when we got him 13 when we lost him. Such a character. Please persevier with these dogs. They will reward you with so much love. I would not be without my 2 (stevie & sarah).

l am so sad to see that Zeta has been returned. l do not know the reason why she is back, and l am always reluctant to make judgements, because we all lead very different life styles and have different priorities. However, if anyone is considering rehoming a greyhound, you do have to be prepared to show a certain level of patience and commitment, at least until they have had time to adjust and settle in. Like many people reading this, all 5 of our greys have had issues, and we could easily have returned all of them a dozen times over!!!
They just need time...patience and understanding....and you will need to make sacrifices, and to a certain extent, change your own routine to allow them to share your life !!! Please be prepared to make allowances....believe me....the rewards are well worth it !!!!! X.

Just thought we would let you know how Zeta is settling into her new home. She is doing really well, enjoying her hugs and walks and meeting new people. Zeta is clean in the house, sleeps on her bed downstairs all night and is very pleased to see us each morning when she gets a bit bouncy! We have been able to leave her at home for a short time today and she was very good getting a treat and a big love when I got back. We are hoping to come to the walk in Sutton on 20th July where Zeta can meet some old friends and make some new ones, and so can we! Thank you for all the advice, information and support from Daybreaks which helped make Zeta's rehoming with us go so smoothly.

Mr Muddypaws is so so correct. I did fall in love on Saturday when I met little Zeta - so gorgeous - and our Millie would love her so much but with 5 greys already I had to really control my heart and leave her in the kennels. I truly hope that she gets her forever home very soon because she is so full of love and just 'bursting' to shower someone with that love. I was then introduced to the beautiful Roxy and fell in love again - what a little beauty. Also, I hope that the handsome boys Liam and Gordon get their new homes soon because they too are lovely little dudes. So many gorgeous dogs needing homes - it is never ending - and they all are wonderful. Good luck to all of the dogs in the kennels - your new moms and dads are out there somewhere and, hopefully, will fetch you soon to wonderful new homes. Lots of love to you all - Terry xxxxx (and Flynn, Davey, Millie, Nell and Pip - xxxxx).

I visited the kennels today and fell in love with this little beauty. Thinking of exchanging my husband for Zeta, she would be a lot less hassle.........!!!!! She is very loving and was great with my 9yr old. Come on people she deserves her own sofa and you certainly wont be disappointed, she is an absolute beaut.

Zeta has been absolutely golden at our house overnight. She was collected from the vets in Tamworth yesterday afternoon following her spey. Unfortunately she was very sick in the office at the kennels and then on arriving at ours and throughout the evening. She is much brighter this morning and has been wagging her tail when ours go past her as she has chosen to lay in the hallway! She is adorable.
