A year has passed since losing you Paddy and I still can see you snoozing on your bed. I thought it would be fitting for Belle & Sammy to have one of your favourite dinners tonight, Lily's Kitchen wild campfire stew. They both loved it just like you used to. We still miss you so much xx

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made a comment for my beloved Paddy. Its going to take a long time to recover from losing him but your kind words and memories will help. Right now the large Padster shaped hole hurts like hell and I keep expecting to see him on his bed when I go in the lounge. He was such a wonderful friend and companion for over 7 years, fortunately I have so many lovely photo and video memories of him. A true gentleman who loved everyone he met xx

Lots of love to you Alan, and of course the lovely Belle. Paddy was a special boy, so many of us have such fond thoughts of him, take comfort in knowing what a loved houndie he was, he lived a long and happy life with you. Run fast and free paddy x

I’m so very sorry that lovely Paddy has made his way to the bridge to join his sisters. I remember meeting him years ago at a roadshow, it might have been Melbicks and he was such a lovely and unique fella. What a fantastic retirement he’s had, with lots of adventures and many happy times which we followed in his blog. A life well lived and chock full of love, which is exactly what we want for them.

I was so very sad hear that Padster had crossed the bridge today. He was indeed a very special boy who was loved so very much. Paddy (Saratoga Paddy) 1st October 2008 ~ 23rd March 2022 age 13 & 5 months.

It is with great sadness that Paddy has crossed over rainbow bridge today. After waiting 6 months for a home, he was adopted back in December 2014 and he enjoyed life to the full. It was thanks to dear Ele who immediately bonded with Paddy, she made sure Paddy was to be her companion. If ever I’m in need of a smile I read the comments from back then. Famous for only having one ear, he was a perfect ambassador for greyhounds, very laid back and friendly to all with not a bad bone in his body. His friendliness even extended to cats later on and during his older days even squirrels were not worth bothering about. In his last years he enjoyed the quiet country life ambling around his large garden nose in the air while his brother and sisters run around. The introduction of Belle gave him a spring in his step with a new young girl on scene in August 20.

Sadly as we all know when old age comes so do health problems but as always he dealt with them as best he could with no fuss. I often joked his back legs had declared independence as he would look at them sometimes as if to say why won’t you work properly. Other issues added to his problems and falls became more frequent. It became clear that he was struggling and not happy and the decision to help him to the bridge had to be made.

Dear Paddy I have so many happy memories, I just hope your legs are fit again. RIP and Run free now dear Pad and find Spritz and Ele, I’m sure they are waiting for you. Thanks for all the good times we shared, you will be missed by so many far and wide. I always enjoyed telling people how friendly you were when we met new dogs, a quality you passed onto Belle. You will be a very tough act to follow. Until we meet again xx

Happy Birthday to our dear old Paddy...13 today

Its been an up and down year with some health issues but generally he’s very good for his age. We think having Belle join our family helped to give him a boost as he loves her and they share his big bed now and then. The main thing he has to contend with in old age are his wobbly back legs, they seemed to have declared independence and they sometimes do their own thing and Paddy will look at them as if to say why won’t you do what I tell you! One thing for certain he still enjoys his food and we will be serving his favourite Lily’s kitchen for dinner. Walks have to be taken at a slow pace and kept short but he still gets out and about ok and its quite funny watching him have a slow carefree amble around the garden. Big hugs super Padster xx

A big happy 12th birthday to wonderful Paddy. We arrived at Daybreaks this morning to a chorus of happy birthday dear Paddy. He then enjoyed a little party with his friends and family,tucking in to sardine cake and home made doggy biscuits. Big birthday hugs woofs go to Cello who is also 12 today and Drew a youthful 7. Paddy managed his dinner when we got home after all his eatins and is now sleeping. Apart from occasional wobbly back legs he's a very happy boy and can still manage a run or two in the garden in his own unique style. Amazingly on his birthday we welcomed in another Paddy to Daybreaks today so our Paddykins will be Paddy senior! Old guys rule xx

Today Paddy came with me to visit a friend. My friend has a lovely lurcher called Poppy and Paddy quickly made friends with her. She is cat friendly as there is a cat called Rosie in the house. When Rosie came in Paddy went over to say hello so slowly and gently with a wagging tail. Rosie is a timid little cat but Paddy was very good with her. I was very proud of him,he's never shown anything but good manners and friendliness to everyone and everything and this now includes cats too. He was just happy to make friends then back to Zzz on his bed....a super boy xxx

Today I dids have to endure the torture of a bath and pamper session with luvly auti Lorna at Daybreaks. Me daddy waz pleezed too and didz say I woz lovely and clean and fluffy. I'm fully groomed, in fact it woz luvly. I fully recommend it luvs Paddy xx

Well Barney, chewing alarm clocks in nothing to naughty Paddy. Today he got hold of a large bag of Guinea pig hay while we were out and promptly spread it far and wide. The hall way looked like a farm yard. Needless to say padster was very proud of his paw work :-D xx

Oh poor Paddy give him a hug from me, I think he is trying to copy Jed who is great for getting things in his pad, can't think how he manages it as he is only has 'retirement speed' unlike Lottie.

Paddy has something sharp stuck in a paw pad which is causing some discomfort walking. He's going to have it checked by the vet tomorrow and hopefully removed. He's not very brave with his paws so I hope he doesn't cry too much! xx

On our holidays and Padster had me good and proper this morning. Got me up at 4am for a wee,ran back in and I thought where's he gone. His bed was empty as he was now in mine! I had to squeeze in on the edge as he wouldn't move over for me. I had to smile at him for his cheek Pam thought I'd turned into a werewolf! xx

I iz lyin hupside down in me bed and me mommy iz blowing raspberries on me tummy! Me mommy iz silly sumtimes xx

I'z bin doin me mornin eatinz so now I'z waitin for the treet fairy to come agen xx

Paws for thought....Today I got up lunchtime having worked a night shift.Got the kids ready and went for walk.On return-both kids hungry so did them sandwiches while I got on with chores.Stripped their beds-plumped up cushions,clean sheets and covers and vacuumed around them....always plenty of crumbs,fluff etc.Next...sort tea menu for later-veg,pasta,meat etc.Played chase with kids in the garden to wear them out(and me!).Drinks-tea for me,milk for them and biscuits.They had a snooze,I started tea.Dad came in! Kids fed-now both asleep,heads on sofa,feet up the walls...no respect! Finally I sit down,satisfied all happy.A short stroll later and maybe a snack and bed.
Phew! Normal day for a mom with kids I hear you cry but ours are the four legged kind...Greyhounds with attitude!!
Its a dogs life!!!!!! ha ha xx

Well we have had our wonderful Paddy - laid back with a bit of naughtiness for 6 months now and he's fitted into our lives so well.We just love him so much! Love the way he coutersurfs for food when he thinks we're not looking and pinching things out of our shopping bags to take to his bed..to the cheeky way he barks when he wants something from the treat cupboard.Love the nose snuffle kisses and the little nose nips he gives us (if we don't move quick enough!)when he's playing.He loves company,his sisfur Ele,no problems with other dogs and he adores his food.A special mention to Norman who always said that Paddy would make a great pet...well he's proved you right and also of course to Daybreaks for this gorgeous boy. Paddy has had a busy day on his holidays,he helped us with our cream tea and he has met and made friends with lots of doggies both large and small. He's a very social hound but Ele wasn't so sure. Tonight we went on the beach for a sunset walk and Paddy loved seeing the sea for the first time and loved the sand in his toes again. They are both tired out happy boys and girls xx

Hi Wendy. Paddy's harness is a Cosydogs size 5,Ele has a smaller size 4. On the Cosydogs website you can check the sizing chart to see which would suit Lottie best. We would think you would need a size 5 like Paddy.There is some adjustment in the straps too.Lots of different colours to choose from.Hope this helps xx

Today I did visit me human nanny's house for the first time. Me nanny was very pleased to see me and Ele and I had a good sniff and look all round. The bestest thing was the garden where I did a long run rounds on the grass and me and Ele did play together.when we came inside nanny did have sum treats for us and then we did do some snoozings. We did have a good days fun Paddy and Ele xx

Me daddy did think I woz asleeps until he opens the biscuits! In seconds I'z there hinvestigatings. I makes sure no eatins can happen without me knowin about it. Me mommy sed I can sniff out a snack at 100 meters away and I makes sure nobody goes past me with foodies,i's friskin them wiv me noze and checkin me mommy's hand bag for anyfink nice. I even got me nozzel in the bag of burns this morning coz me mommy woz a bit slow clozin the bag.I takes foodies and eatins very seriously,dentastix... thems me favorite he he Paddy xx

We had the same problem with yogurt pots with our previous hound Don. He often had his tongue in the pot before Pam could get her spoon in!! Will we ever learn. Thing is Paddy is so cute so he gets away with it.

We all read about these greys being returned but who knows the real reasons and problems faced by owners and dogs in a home.We almost had to return our second grey Ele (so we know what its like!)as she was so nasty towards our big black boy Don,but with help and advice,patience and understanding as to why she was like that,she's now the most loving and beautiful girl. Paddy has fitted in so easily and so well and a joy to have,such a difference (apart from the odd wee..he prefers the washing machine!) Its good to remember that these beautiful intelligent greyhounds were once racing machines and face a big challenge learning to become a much loved pet and their owners face a challenge too.There's always a human for every dog out there somewhere,its just a case of matching us up. Oh and black IS beautiful too!!

My last dog Tess was a yogurt pot licker too, however it got to the stage that you couldn't have a yogurt in the end for the drooling mess of a dog watching every spoonful so be warned!! Hugs to Paddy.

Hi everyone,ive had a lovely weekend in me new home.Yesterday my dad took me to Stratford on my first official engagement as a pet hound.It was luffy to be helping to find me mates their forever homes and even better meeting me old friends and snoozings on their beds.Today i'z been back to see Aunti Ruth and my mommy and daddy officially signed to says they want me forever!! Great news well done Paddy still cannot stop laughing with what you have been up too.

Our wonderful Paddy has settled so well that it seems like he's been with us for a lot longer than a week.The only thing he insisted on straight away was having his bed next to Ele.They have got on so well,Ele can be a bit fussy who she shares with but she has totally bonded with Paddy and he is happy to follow her lead.Soon his playful and loving personality began to shine through.From then on it was only going to end in his green sign,we are so pleased to have him here we haven't stopped smiling! A super super dog xxxxx

Hi everyone, it’s Paddy reporting from my foster home to let you all know what I’ve been getting up to. Today I saw my new garden in the daylight for the first time; I wasted no time in running round and round turning the grass into mud. Then I ran inside at top speed sliding on the floor and leaving my pawtograph for my new mommy to clean up. Talking about my mommy she seems to have gone a bit greyer since I arrived! She says I need to learn some table manners as I get a bit excited at dinner times or any time that there’s food about really…(did someone mention sausages!!) I think I’m going to be very happy here once I remember I have to share with my new sisfur Ele and not try to countersurf in search of treats. Ele has been very nice to me and has been looking after me while I get to know my new home. My new Mommy and Daddy still says they loves me very much so I finks my sign may go green soon me hopes! Paddy has arrived home with us today,leaving daybreaks at 2:30pm. He's had a good wonder round investigating his new home. He soon finished his dinner and is now resting on his new bed. Perfect Paddy came out with us to Stratford 'Pets at Home' to help raise awareness for himself and his fellow greys. What can I say in praise of this lovely boy that no-one else has said! I repeat - Paddy is gorgeous. Jumped into the car, watched the world go by from a sitting position, great on the lead, well-behaved at the event, friendly, calm, good with other breeds and small dogs - we took him in to see the rabbits and guineas (behind glass) and he backed off (granted tail wagging). Whoever homes this beautiful hound will be gaining a loyal companion, a 'celebrity' and a real gem. Your home must be just around the corner, Paddy. Love you. xxx

Definately no problem with Paddys ears as he proved on Sunday at the
Show. Having taken him there I entered him in 'the prettiest ears ' class and he was rewarded with a 6th placed rosette. He was a star all day loving the attention. He travelled in the car with our dog Sid with no problem whatsoever.
Whoever is lucky enough to give this fellow a permanent home will be getting a wonderful addition to their household.

Come on folks the black boys and girls are still as loving as any others, Paddy needs a sofa and his ear should not be an issue. Wish I had room.

Paddy came along with Belle and Maria to help with the Awareness at the Swan Centre yesterday and was just brilliant. He travelled well, was relaxed, and took everything in his stride. He is so endearing - everyone loves him and he happily accepted all the fuss and attention he received. He was calm around non-greys; someone holding a small puppy in their hands came to say hello and Paddy was completely unfazed - a quick sniff (muzzled for the introduction of course) and then disinterest. Such a good boy and no trouble at all. Paddy you are adorable; it must be your turn soon for a loving home. Keeping our fingers crossed. xxx

Had the pleasure of taking this lad to Melbicks yesterday. He jumped into the car, travelled really well(despite Sam's driving!!) walked into Melbicks and stood there like a seasoned pro meeting and greeting everyone. He was great with all the kids who came up to say hello and wasn't fazed by any of the dogs that walked past him. Drove back to the kennels gave him a quick cuddle before he jumped onto his bed and flaked out! This lad is adorable.
