Thank you so much to everyone for your kind words of sympathy and prayers for the loss of Lilah. It means so much to us. Our thoughts, too, are with those who have lost their beloved dogs.

We have very much missed our friends and happy times at Daybreaks and hope to see you all again soon.

Love Nicola and Brian. xx

So very heartbroken to hear this, I know how devastating it is to lose your beloved hound, I have lost two to Rainbow Bridge since Christmas. You are in my thoughts and in my prayers. Please take some solace that you gave her the best of lives. Jo x

LILAH (HONOUR LASS)
14 May 2011 – 8 April 2021

Our beautiful Lilah has gone to Rainbow Bridge.

She was off colour for a couple of days and then, after a visit to our vet, it was confirmed she had liver problems. She declined very quickly after that. Thankfully, we were able to say goodbye to her in the quiet of our home, and she left us gently and peacefully. We are heartbroken.

Although a nervous girl, she came on in leaps and bounds over the years. It was so rewarding to see her grow in confidence and trust, coming out of her shell and responding shyly, but well, to people other than those in her family. We regularly visited the local care home, where she was adored by the residents and staff, and enjoyed attention in a calm environment.

She loved her walks, but from time to time she would refuse point-blank to go further than the post box at the end of the road and point her nose towards home!

Her greetings were like no other. Even if I popped to the shops for ten minutes I would so look forward to her rushing to the hall for kisses on my return.

She loved her bed, her food and her ball and was quite a playful character. We had some fun games in the garden and made such lovely memories together.

Thank you to Daybreaks for bringing her to us.

Our sweet Lilah, you were so very gentle and loving.

How we miss you and look forward to seeing you again, together with Grandma and Granddad, at Rainbow Bridge.

Mama, Papa, Chloe and Lily.
xxxx

Delilah sounds so much like Tess, she still gets nervous with passing buses and if a cyclist whizzes past but they sometimes startle me. I'm sure Delilah will progress as fast or faster than Tess with all the love she will be getting now. Tess is still surprising us, she has now decided she likes going upstairs and will go up at every chance she gets just to go in every room and look through the front windows. We love her to bits as well and I think she knows it too.

Thank you PamD. Delilah is a sweet, gentle girl. She has settled well in our home but is still very nervous when out and about. It is quite an ordeal for her simply to walk to the top of our road. However, after just one week she has progressed so much; she froze every time a car passed by but now carries on walking, managing to ignore them. Cyclists, joggers and groups of people still frighten her but with love, time and patience I know she will continue to blossom and learn that the world isn't such a scary place after all. She is a very special girl. We love her so much and are so very proud of her. X

Great to hear about Lass, now Delilah. Dunc walked her on the recent Stratford upon Avon Walk. She was so nervous afterwards she jumped into the back of our car where she sat with Dunc sitting on the tailgate until Norman came to collect her. Dunc got really fond of her and is so pleased that she has found a loving and understanding home.

Hi Nicola, you kindly came out to our house to meet us and see how dreamboat Monty (Khani) was doing. You said at the time that you so wanted a greyhound of your own and that the only obstacle was puss. So glad this is resolved and you now have beautiful Delilah in your home. Looking forward to meeting you again on the Stratford Walk (just missed you at Pets at Home recently). Take care and wishing you and Delilah much fun in the future. Bravo! Sarah J x

Thank you MomofTess for you lovely comments. Lass is already beginning to come out of her shell and even has a cheeky side! She is adorable. Oscar has moved 'upstairs' but hasn't left home, which is good news..... I love reading about Tess and her progress. She is a beautiful girl. X

Lass sounds absolutely lovely and she is very pretty. Our Tess needed to be coaxed out of her bed when she first came to us but now she has changed completely, she plays with toys and even barks sometimes. Doesn't care for cats though. We don't have any but neighbours do so we have to be careful in case they are silly enough to come in our garden. Hope you and Lass enjoy each others company and Oscar doesn't get stressed.

Beautiful Lass came to stay with us yesterday for a few day. She is adorable; so very shy, sweet and gentle, and naturally very wary of the outside world. Oscar the nervous cat keeps popping his head round the living room door to have a closer look at her, which is a good sign for him, but he's in and out of his flap like a yo yo! We cat tested Lass at the kennels yesterday and she was brilliant. She slept through and has been clean overnight and eaten her breakfast. As I write she is sitting happily on her bed in the living room; she takes a little coaxing from it. As Harry Racer has said I feel sure that with plenty of love, time and patience she will come out of her shell and be a wonderful companion. Thank you Lass for being such a lovely house guest, plus I get to give you as many real cuddles as I like. xxx

Hope it is your turn soon to find a loving family. Once you are settled in a new home your new owners will realise that your nerves will diminish and you will be a lovely pet. We have a nervous grey at home but she has plenty of character and is very precious to us. Plse don't miss Rosa too much, just turn the charm on. Luv Harryracer xxx

Great - thanks a lot. Lass is quite timid but at the Racing Kennels she soon came out of her shell and has quite a character. When she gets to know you she will be full of love for you and whoever has her at home. She is absolutely adorable and will be happy with lovely Rosa. Thankyou again. Love to Lass (Honey) and Rosa xx

Hi harryracer, thought you might like to know your girls have been reunited and are happily sharing a kennel together...just like old times! Rosa and Lass are both gorgeous. Lass is a little timid at the moment, hopefully being with Rosa, (who is not timid in anyway!) will help her to settle. Kind regards Xxx

Hope you have settled in (Honey) - her pet name in kennels. She is a gorgeous girl, was very nervous when we first had her as a racer but soon blossomed and quite a character, however quite nervous around small children, may suit home with older children. We had her the same time as Rosa and the two girls were kennelled together. They finished racing within one week of each other and are now in the Trust at the same time - quite a coincidence. You are a lovely girl and we will miss you when we visit the racing kennels - at least we managed to give you a walk yesterday. Yet another grey we are sorry not to have at home - house not big enough. Hope you get a lovely home, you certainly deserve it. Love Harryracer xx
