Glen came out with us for the last time this morning before he goes home and was definitely in explore mode. We took a walk across the fields and he discovered a new game - running fast through the really long grass with his head down low.
When we got back to the kennels we had the usual game of getting the muzzle off while he rolls around on his bed! Great fun and a super hound.

Oh Glen - I don't think ANY of your kennel mates enjoyed their walks this morning and I don't blame them. On top of that your kennel started flooding again and we had to move you to the kitchen kennel. You were happy though as you could see everything going on and keep an eye on lunch preparations. You're such a loving hound, surely that new home is not far away. xx

With sadly Glen(Lenny) having been returned to kennels we thought it would be nice to take him out for the morning and have visited Knowle cricket club where Warwickshire 2nds were playing Yorkshire 2nds. Needless to say he proved he is the same happy affectionate lad he has always been.
He put smiles on the faces of everyone he met and loved the attention he was given back. He met several small dogs without any problems whatsoever.
He really is a very special greyhound with a wonderful character and personality.

I took my sister along to the kennels today in the lovely Spring sunshine to walk a Greyhound - something she had never done before. Glen was his usual self, bounding out of his kennel on two legs, crazily giving lovely kisses and she said " Will I be able to manage him?" I said don't worry, after this initial show of excitement and exuberance he'll calm down and walk nicely for you - and that's exactly what he did, as always. She had a lovely time with him, and he gave plenty of cuddles along the way. This boy is a joy, and so deserving of his own forever home. Fingers crossed. xxx

The lovely Glen came on our training club walk today . Norman brought him along and asked if I could put something on the website because he can't understand why he is still in kennels and wanted someone else to confirm what a stunner this boy is.He joined us the pub afterwards to help celebrate Julie Sadler's birthday. He was impeccably behaved and didn't take notice of the other dogs in the pub .This dog might be big (he has muscles on his back end that Arnold Schwarzenegger would be proud of) but he is so friendly and affectionate he really deserves a home of his own. Glen is one of those special greys that likes to lean into you -if you move away he seems to wrap his head around your leg! Glen is a happy boy who really enjoys being out and about meeting and greeting people. He is great on the lead and although a big lad like most greys he can curl up into a small ball.Glen is the longest resident in the kennels - let's hope the Easter bunny finds him a very special home because he truly deserves one .He is one amazing grey who really deserves a home of his own and to leave kennel life behind.
PS it would also make Stormin Norman very very happy to see these boy re-homed.

Ohh Glen, why are you still in the kennel?

We met you with Charlotte (our greyhound) and of course you were very excited. We enjoyed a couple of nice walkies with you and Charlotte and you are simply a gentleman.

Whilst at first very excited you soon were very nice, calm and interacting with human and non human. There is no reason for you to still be in the kennel. I think Charlotte wanted to take you home with us. I certainly would like to but my wife was the sensible one today and suggested we wait till the baby has arrived. Otherwise I would be on the phone to our landlord and Ruth to make arrangements.

I hope you will find your forever home soon. People take your time to get to know this lovely chap. He maybe every exited at first but once he knows you is such a loving, gentle and calm dog.

It is quite true what Stormin says about Glen. He is the most loving, brilliant dog. Yes, he gets a bit excited when you first go in his kennel (I am now always prepared for his front legs wrapping round my shoulders and giving me a big hug!) but once he is out and on his walks he calms right down and behaves like a perfect gentleman. He will make the most perfect companion for some lucky person/s. Just hope that happens very soon. sending him a cuddle today. xx

There can be times when it is difficult not to begin to sound like a stuck record and keep playing "the same old tune" over and over again. However having taken Glen to todays awareness at Dobbies Garden Centre in Atherstone I must repeat once again as I have done several times before that he has proved to be the most wonderful dog you could possibly wish to take out.
Everyone he met today fell in love with his happy welcoming nature that he always shows. He just loves everyone he meets (human and canine) Great with very small children too.
I can only presume the reason that after 2 months at Daybreaks he has not yet found his permanent home is that his initial boisterous excited reaction when he first leaves his kennel has made potential 'homers' wary of giving him that home.
Please do not be put off if thinking of offering him a home by this reaction as within a minute or two his excitement subsides and his fun loving friendly nature can be seen. He walks on the lead and travels in the car perfectly.

I popped into the kennels this morning to find Master Glen had "dedded" one of his pillows overnight - his kennel was full of white fluffy stuffing!! I duly made him up a new bed whilst he was having his breakfast, only to find the little tinker had managed to "ded" another pillow during the time the others were coming out for their breakfast - filling his kennel with white fluff again!! I think I have managed to make him up a "Glen proof" bed now, time will tell! He is such a gorgeous boy, he just wants to be out with you, doing whatever you're doing and enjoying the company. Hope that forever sofa comes soon sweetheart. xxx

Stormin, you are absolutely spot on. Every Friday when it's Glen's turn to come out for breakfast, he launches himself out of his kennel and we make our way outside with him on his two back legs, his front legs over my arms and his tail wagging like mad!!!! You would imagine him being a real handful but he's just the opposite, he just wants to be around you giving out his own brand of kisses. His amazing ears only add to his cuteness, fingers crossed that he has his own sofa very soon. Xx

Glen came along today to AvonVale vets in Stratford today and was an absolute star in all ways. He got on great with all who came inc children and other dogs. He met a 12 week old terrier puppy and showed no aggression or interest in him at all. He is a calm and peaceful boy and would make a Greyt addition to any home. I would highly recommend this wonderful boy to anyone. Please come and see this lovely lad.

Sadly we have to reveal today that Daybreaks kennels have discovered that since January 16 th 2016 they have been playing host to a fraudster. That fraudsters name is Glen as since his arrival on that date he has been tricking many people into thinking that he is a rather boisterous excitable dog who who might prove a handful in a home. Having taken him to several events I have always felt this to be the wrong image of him.
He has today been to Brueton Park for a morning outing where with another PBRGT volunteer and her 18 month old toddler plus greyhound he has proved to be the most sensible, affectionate greyhound that you could wish to meet. We were joined in the park by a springer spaniel and his owner who walked with us for an hour and Glens behaviour towards the spaniel was immaculate as it was with the toddler also.
I will be taking Glen to Saturdays Stratford Roadshow event as he is such a fabulous advertisement for Greyhounds as Pets.
However if there is anyone possibly considering homing a greyhound who on reading this would like to come along to Daybreaks on Saturday to view him with the possibility of being able to offer him a home I would certainly be able to leave him there for the viewing. Please ring the kennels if you are considering this.
One thing is certain when this terrific greyhound finally does find his permanent home he is going to make that lucky family extremely happy.

Glen has today joined 51 other dogs at Kingsbury Water Park on the Valentines Day Love Your Hounds Walk. Many thanks to Tina for organising the walk.
Glen has once again proved as he did at the Stratford Walk what a fabulous friendly happy dog he is who gets on wonderfully well with everyone he meets both human and canine.
He reallyy is going to make a wondeful addition to any family home.
Hopefully there is someone thinking of giving a greyhound a home in the near future who will think Glen is the boy for them.

For the 2nd consecutive Sunday Glen has enjoyed a day out from Daybreaks by joining the 65 other dogs who came and had a very pleasant walk around Solihulls Brueton Park.
As at Stratford last week he proved what a fabulous friendly dog he is with all who he meets. Most certainly he is ready to find his permanent home now as soon as that arrives.

Many thanks to all who came along today and joined the 35 dogs who enjoyed a wintry walk in Stratford.
Glen has had a busy day out as he spent the morning in Stratford and then went up to the awareness day at Melbicks.
He is a wonderfully happy friendly dog. His trainer Tracey describes him as a bundle of fun. That is most certainly true.
He travelled perfectly in the car with Rose, has no apparent problems with other breed of dogs and behaves well with even the smallest of children. For an active dog he is very relaxed on the lead.
A great dog who is going to make a wonderful addition to any family home.
