I had this email from Dex's new owners and I said I would pop on the website as I know many of you are asking about him.

Just to let you know Dex is doing well. He is quiet and shy but gradually coming out of his she'll. We have all earned our first kisses off him now. We have lots of patience and love to give him.
He is exploring the house but only when he thinks we are not watching.

Thanks so much to Jeremy and Julie for all the extra walks and trips to the park you took Dex on whilst he was waiting for his forever home. Called in to see Dex for lunch today. Meaty strips and cheesy buscuits went down a treat with him, it looked nicer than the rubbish I had. All was quiet at the kennels so we had a nice chill together without being disturbed.

Aahh! Now it makes sense. When we went to get Dex for his walk this morning he was most reluctant for us to put his coat on. He lay on his tummy and did his best to make things hard for us :)
Once out, he was great today. We had a lovely but chilly time in the park and we made it all the way around the lake as well as the nature park. He was happy to meet all strangers and thoroughly enjoyed himself.
We stopped off at our house for a coffee and Sir made himself at home. After a quick inspection of the garden he helped himself to water and treats then headed to his favourite spot at the bottom of the stairs where he promptly went to sleep!
We do love this hound.

Dex ate all his breakfast today!...He did have some extras with his Muesli; a tin of Mackerel in sunflower oil....what a good lad! Personally I prefer Farleys Rusks or Co-Co pops! :) Many thanks to Jembob for taking Dex out for a trip to the park this morning. Xxx

Jembob, i know you would have taken him if you could, and you are right in not doing so if you would have to leave him all day, but i think its lovely that you spend as much time with him as you do, i am sure it is helping him get used to people and situations for when his forever home comes along, keep up the good work, and he couldnt be in a better place than Daybreaks, everybody is wonderful, i cant praise them enough for everything they do for these wondrrful hounds xxxxx

Shani. We would love to have Dex living with us, both me and Julie are very fond of him indeed. Sadly I only get to see him a handful of times each week but Dex is fortunate to be waiting at Daybreaks where many others care for him so well. He does need a home though and a little understanding while he settles into domestic life. Our working days are too long to give Dex the attention which we believe he deserves but if we could adopt him we would not hesitate.

Jembob, glad you enjoyed your walk with the delightful Dex, he is so lucky to have you, i can tell from your posts that you really care for him, wouldnt it be lovely if he had his forever home, he has waited so long bless him, makes me feel quite sad, keeping my fingers crossed for him xxxxx

Shanishoo. We had a day off today so went to see Dex this morning and went for a walk with him. He was a bit subdued to start with but perked up with a walk and his favourite Garlic & Liver choc drops. He seems to really enjoy stomping through the puddles down Damson Lane - I've bought some water proof boots to keep up with him.

Jembob, thanks for taking him out, only you could manage to take him out just as his two least favourite things happened. Mobility scooters and fireworks, but he knew he was safe in your hands and as Ladyvictoria says, would be even better on your sofa :-)

It was one of those days today! After a miserable start to the day, this afternoon turned out to be gloriously autumnal.
By the time I arrived at DB today, Dex was already enjoying himself in the sand run with John so I took Danny and Lady out for a walk. What an absolute joy to take out such a lovely coupke of hounds - both completely lovable but each in their own way.
The sun was shining brightly so I decided to take Dex for a quick outing. Old Damson Lane was really busy so we headed off across the fields and watched the A380 blasting off from the airport. On the way back to DB, some pea brain decided that it would be a good idea to set off a multi-barage set of fireworks and Dex was a little spooked. After a brief pause we managed to compose ourselves but then were almost run over by a gentleman on a mobility scooter!!! You have to laugh but we headed for home ASAP.
Back at the kennels, Dex enjoyed some Liver & Garlic Atomic Drops acquired at the show last week. By the time I left, Sir was stretched out on his bed and rapidly drifting off. Normal service was resumed.

Dex came out with us to Elmdon Park this morning. What a great time we all had together. Dex was happy to meet and greet both humans and canines and I suspect that he would have beem happy to spend the whole day there if he could. We met another grey called Amy who also just happenned to be having a pamper session with Jess when we eventually made it back to Daybreaks.
What a wonderful hound our Dex is.

Jembob, thankyou, we had a great time at the kennels today, it was heaven seeing all those beautiful greys. I went to Dex,s kennel 3 times and he was just laid on his bed and wouldnt get up, think he was tired lol after his walk. I took a big bag of treats but forgot to take a few out before i gave them to Kate so i didnt actually give Dex one myself, i wonder if you would be so kind as to give him a treat from me the next time you visit him, and tell him its from me. He is such a calm beautiful boy, and those eyes!!!!. Thankyou xxx

Thank you to everybody who came to see Dex at the show today. After an understandably nervous start, Dex really settled down well and enjoyed his morning out. We noticed that he really enjoyed the company of other dogs both greys and other breeds and seemed to take everything in his majestic stride. We weren't sure how he was going to react to such a busy event but after we had met Ronnie and Jess he relaxed and took it all in. It was nice to meet Star and his family who all were pleased to meet D.
We all had a quick kip at our house before heading back to Daybreaks. All in all an enjoyable day out but more importantly it was good to see Dex so well behaved with dogs and people that he had not met before.

A quick business lunch with Dex today. He was busy being groomed when I arrived but once done, we sat on his bed munching biscuits and treats. Once finished, Sir lay on his back while I massaged his tummy. He's got us very well trained I think!

Jembob - Dex was in fine form today when I took him out for his walk. He just loves to be out and about and also loves a fuss when we get back to the kennels. Sounds like he had a brilllant time at your house. xx

I hope my mate Dex is recovering from his insect altercation. He can have an extra treat at the weekend in recognition of his bravery in the face of such hostility from that killer bee. What an awesome hound he is.

It is no secret that me and Mrs Jembob adore Dex, and given different circumstances would adopt him in a heartbeat. For a couple of weeks we have been trying to arrange for Dex to spend a few hours with us outside of the kennels. Saturday 18th turned out to be the day!
After Saturday morning walks, we bundled Dex into our car and headed home. First things first, we took Dex into the back garden so that he could know where to commune with nature. The garden turned out to be a place where our Spartan (check out his race name!) guest would very much enjoy his first experiences of lead-free exploration. All plants and shrubs were inspected and marked and even our resident frogs were rudely awoken by a set of greyhound paws stomping through their tranquil pond. All amphibians have been accounted for but are now rather more cautious than before, as are The Squirrel Thief and Waldo the pigeon. Dex is definitely a hound for mincing around in the garden.
We weren't sure whether Dex had had any licence to roam in his previous life so gave him unfettered access to house, garden and conservatory and left him to it. For the next two hours he didn't stop exploring, chasing and thoroughly enjoying himself. Perhaps it's the novelty of being out of the kennel, but we were both struck by Dex's interest in almost everything!
In and out he went non-stop, but the highlight for me was when he saw the TV for the first time. The football wasn't up to much but Dex' reaction to the moving pictures was hilarious. He was completely baffled by it all!
Finally he gave up and slumped by the door and finally took a rest. We also administered some well deserved fuss and biscuits.
Before we headed back to HQ we did a quick tour of the woods adjacent to our house and he loved his time there too! An encounter with an unruly couple of mutts could have been difficult but Dex was very calm and impleccaby behaved.
Sadly, we headed back to Daybreaks and Dex collapsed on his bed and while I thanked him for his company for the kday, our favorite hound headed off to the land of nod. I can't say that it was very easy to leave him there!
You certainly know that Dex is in your home! He's great fun but will need a little help to fit into domestic life. He will however, make a wonderful family member and would brighten any home.
I'm already looking forward to seeing my pal Dex next weekend!

Dex was great today wth my lttle terrier jess n the run and sunny my whippet he really is a lovely lad and needs a lovely sofa to call his own xxx

Me and Dex did lunch again today. It was a bit more casual than last Thursday but we still managed to finish off a few nice cheesy biscuits.

Hey Mary, stop trying to move in on my lad! I missed seeing him today although we did have a good time together yesterday and I have the video to prove it. Hopefully next weekend will be a bit easier for us and we can take him out of the kennels for a while.

Managed to sneak an extra walk in with Dex today. A most enjoyable lunch time spent with my pal. Not many greyhounds go for a walk with somebody wearing their best business suit!

Dex - it is surely your turn to get a sofa. My husband walked you and our girl Milly together yesterday and you were no trouble at all. Although you were a bit bouncy to lead up, you soon settled and walked beautifully. PLEASE can someone give this lovely boy a home. xx

Dex loved the biccies! Once the treats were finished, Dex lay down next to me and we had a brilliant chill together. We sat there ignoring everything going on in the kennels and he seemed a very contented hound. That said, Dex had been for a canine massage, extra long walk with me and had tasty treats - all well deserved. What a lovely soul he is when you can spend a little time with him.

I've got some hand-made peanut butter flavour doggie biscuits. Some for you Dex and some for Diva.

I took him out as usual this morning and gave him his secret treats when we got back to the kennels. He's such a character and he really appreciates his treats.
He also reminds me of Ravi - hounds that don't sell themselves very well to prospective families but individual and full of character. Once settled in to a new home, Dex would be your best friend ever!

Dex, Dex, Dex. If you read the posts below about Dex you will see that both me and Mrs Jembob are very fond of him. Having spent time with him since arriving at Daybreaks, I am convinced that Dex will make a fantastic domestic hound.
The two of us went out for a walk on our own today and had a great time. Dex’s initial enthusiasm is legendary but he calms down almost immediately as soon as he has the lead on. He takes an interest in everything he sees and we went into the undergrowth a couple of times today to investigate what is going on out there – sadly, nothing to report!
Back at HQ and free of the muzzle, we had a lovely bit of fuss before he nodded off.
If you come to Daybreaks looking for a hound, please do not overlook Dex. His profile on this website does not do him justice. He is a beautiful grey, full of character and with a tiny bit of nurturing, will become a wonderful addition to your family. Who cares if he doesn’t want to share his bed?

Dex is now our longest stayer, if only by a few days. I have taken a photo of him upside down on his bed, legs in the air, and made it my screensaver. Here's hoping ...... xx

Dex has to be one of the most enthusiastic hounds around. If you could somehow harness the energy in his wagging tail you could power Daybreaks for months.
It's real fun to see his excitement getting ready for a walk and he is as good as gold once on the lead. Anybody adopting Dex will get a very affectionate and lively greyhound. Much like Ravi, if our circumstances were different we would adopt Dex in a heartbeat.

Yep - Dex got his fuss this morning! He gets so excited when he knows that he's going for a walk but is impeccably behaved while out. He gets yet another daily hug from us.

Just watched the video we shot of Dex in the sand run (see below) and he is such a lovely hound. He gets my hug today and has a big bunch of fuss heading his way from us this weekend.

The pitures don't do this boy justice. We took him into the sand run for half an hour and we ALL really enjoyed it! It's amazing to see a dog like Dex at full speed - no wonder he won so many races.
After a while he decided to be more interested in what was going on the other sides of the gates so we decided to leave him to it and to walk around the perimeter of the run. Next thing we knew, he had joined us and walked with good as gold. He took a shine to Mrs Jembob and followed her everywhere.
A very lovely grey that is full of beans.

You were VERY excited to be going out for your walk this morning Dex, but not quite so happy when you realised how wet it was! A little bit bouncy at times but in general you walked well and rewarded me with some kisses when we got back to a nice dry kennel and you'd been towelled dry. xx
