This afternoon we lost little Jato, she was a tiny nervous little lady, with a gentle smile. She was 11 and 1/2, had gone from being our ‘surprise’ baby of three to rolling her eyes at Joe and being an older girlie watching him gallop about not to gently - and joining in with racing down the garden.
She didn’t trust easily, had some unusual worries- the floor and doorways (our own that she used on the regular- my boss has often had a text with a photo of these big eyes trying to find the braves to step into the house, before I could leave for work.
She slipped away on her own terms which is how she did most things, dig her little feet in and that was it no amount of begging, bribing would change her mind. (She was a bit of a mummy’s girl) and she had surgery a few weeks ago to remove what turned out to be a tumour, at her age, and with her general mistrust of people and places it was decided with Jordana at the Willows we would wait and watch - that was a mere seven days ago she left us as suddenly as she arrived. Night night little one. Xxx

Yesterday we lost Archive- although he wasn’t a Daybreaks hound, He lead us to Daybreaks’s where we adopted both Breeze and Jato. He loved the Stratford walks. He always wanted to be up front. He had a spinal stroke four years ago, which damaged his back leg we had his leg amputated twelve months after his stroke.
He turned thirteen in May - just before we found a lump under his jaw, because of the placement, his age and his blood issues it was decided not to look at it - but to care for him and wait. Over the weekend he lost a lot of weight - so our vet came out yesterday he lay on his favourite memory foam bed in the sun watching the birds with his head in my lap. Xxx

On Monday our little lady went under the knife !! As before I said she had a scan and after the vets had another look they found an area that looked wrong ( easier way for me to discribe ) as no one was sure what was going on we were warned that it may be the worst outcome. Luckily it turned out she had already had surgery and the odd things found on the scan were scarring - so our little one is home she is wearing t - shirts to keep her pointy nose away from her stitches!! We don’t know why her temperature was going up but we know she is ok and guess that she had eaten something in the past that had to be retrieved!!! So fingers crossed she continues to recover as well as she is now. Xxxxx

Aw thank you Nicky, I am so pleased that they haven't found a tumour and everything else is looking good??. I hope your little girl soon starts to feel better when the tablets 'kick in', she is getting the best possible care and I'm sure the vet will get her sorted, she sounds like a bit of a tea leaf bless her, we have got one of those, new boy Douggie will steal anything he can get his paws on, had to remove my specs out of his mouth this afternoon before he ran off with them! Hoping for a speedy recovery for Jato. Take care xxx

So little one had her scan yesterday- there is no definitive answer but the good news is no tumour, spleen, liver, kidneys all are looking good. The only thing that was noticed was her guts seem to be ‘stuck’ together. How the vet explained was they sedated her scanned her at different angles carried her to X-ray and then they rescanned her and everything around her stomach stayed in the same place though out. So she is still a bit of a mystery she is on painkillers antibiotics and two lots of tablets to sooth her tummy. Next stage is to have a look and vets want to be sure that is the right thing. Of course she did eat lots of duvet not to long ago - and colour catcher sheets have to be counted in and out of the wash, and I once found half of hubbys sock hidden in her bed so I am sure this has added if not caused the problems.
Thanks for your support and most to Shani. Xxxx

We have a poorly Jato - she has had a very high temperature and unfortunately the vet is having trouble finding out why. She has had a couple of nights in as fever has been dehydrating her - she is home at the moment but not herself at all, we have a scan on Friday hopefully something will show up. Xxx

Douggie is such a sweet natured boy and I'm sure they both benefit from the others company. Xxxxxx

Just got back from the vets who has signed Jato off - she was first admitted two weeks ago, and hasnt eaten properly since then. She is eating better. She still has antacids as of course she did eat duvet ! But they are happy she is going the right way - as we are she was much better on Saturday when we got up almost over night! Her behaviour is more herself to - chatting to next doors dog, watching over the roads cat through the gate, going mad every morning when lady with the dog whistle walks across the field behind our house - all the things that jato fits into her day ! Not feeling up to the chores yet hiding washing that is dropped in her bed, bundling all and any rugs she can find into tidy heaps rather than flat on the floor, oh and washing all the bowls after they finish. Jato is back at the vets ! Only a small offering on the first day back and being a lazy hound why eat your food when a nurse will syringe it in !!! Easy. But seriously she hasn’t eaten enough to keep a mouse going and has lost a kilo in the last week (she won’t miss it a little porky) and Sunday we decided she was dehydrated so back on the fluids,

Little Jato is staying at the vets for a second night - she opened the cover on her bed and opened up the duvet and ate some of the ‘fluff’ - she has been very sick, X-ray and a scan and we think all duvet is out - but she has to stay in until she has eaten (food - not bedding) and everyone is happy it has moved all the way through!!
It’s very quiet here she may be the tiddly one but she is the loudest. Hugs to our baby toady. Xxx

I will try and send an updated photo ,She is so nosy if she sees a camera or phone out all you get is up close of her nose where she is “looking” Breeze smiles and poses so have more of her. Xxx

We was very pleased to be together again. Now mummy says he didn't slip a disk but had a Spinel Stroke - this sounds worse but it will get better he just has to take things easy - dat will be hard for a 9 yr old greyhound but he will try! Me and Breezie don't know why he went to hospital for a stroke cos we had lots at home and cuddles - he is funny. Lubs Jato x

We have given Jato her forever home, as you can see from the photo she has wasted no time getting comfy on the beds, Archive to the left and Breeze is on the right. She is a tiny poppet and is so very shy - men in seem to worry her, but she is a bit of a daddys girl going and standing just behind him and waiting for fuss. She wont yet come to us for fuss or treats we have to go to her but she is getting braver all the time. On her walks she dances along looking everywhere at once, Falling leaves are very interesting not as interesting as the squirrels that are behind the leaves. She has changed over to the same food as the other two with no problem, and seems quite happy on it. See you at the stratford walk -hope I am bit better at walking three by then if not I shall be wrapped in three leads!!!Xxx

This morning three wagging dogs were waiting at the bottom of the stairs, up until today Jato has slept on the beds in what used to be our utility room - now called the dogs bedroom, and waited for me to go to her. She is very nervous on her last walk we were followed by a man, in a hoodie with a very big beard one of these upset her so today with lead and muzzle on her and leads on the other two - she couldn't get up so took her lead and muzzle off and left her at home, as we went down the road I looked back and there was my 16 year old son and Jato following us- she had got up after we left, let him put her lead and muzzle on and gone with him- most shocking she had got him away from an x-box. Well Jato came home monday lunchtime, Thanks to my brother who drove us as my car boot locked and wouldn't unlock.) She has been very good- followed me around on monday then took to "her" bed -its in the corner of a big pile of beds and pillows, and she has not moved far ! Isnt keen on going in the garden but Breeze wants to play when outside and will run about shouting so that did worry her a bit. She has been playing with the toys again mainly ones near the bed, Has eaten all meals and been clean in the house. Ignore everything I just tpyed looking out the window Jato is running zoomies round the lawn on her own!! Keeps popping in to look at me then off again. Xxx

What a wonderful, funny girl Jato is! When she and Ronny are waiting for their breakfast she chases him round and round the run and "talks" as if to tell us to hurry up! On Tuesday afternoon we heard Ronny having a little grumble...we checked the camera....despite all the room on the bed Jato was determined to cuddle up right next to Ronny, she succeeded and Ronny being the gentleman he is let her. :)) The family who offers her a forever home will be very lucky indeed!
