Fudge is doing so well...settled better at night now out of his crate, no more crying in his new place on his bed at the bottom of the stairs. Tonight he has enjoyed sharing a bit of screwball ice cream whilst having his walk on the park....He's loved by all the family.xx

He has been a good boy as its been the first time he has mixed with other dogs and he was a bit curious at first then he settled after a while I am really proud and glad we chose fudge to be part of our family, I can't praise Daybreaks enough how helpful they have been since we brought fudge home thank you very much.

Fudge met his two springer spaniel cousins today for a walk on the Waseley Hills. He was very well behaved and although at first would have loved to have been off the lead running with them he soon settled down on his lead and enjoyed the walk. We came across about 20 other dogs of all sizes and he was fine with them all. He later enjoyed being off the lead at my sisters running around freely with the two spaniels. There was no signs of any aggression from him and after finding his way round soon made himself at home on their bed. It's lovely that we can socialise him with them and have some good family time and memories.

Thanks everyone for your kind hints n tips. Fudge is settling well after we borrowed the crate from the centre, he seems to settle much better in there. It's just under a week since we had him and he is now going most nights until 5.30. We only had two wee's the first day after being excited and after about 4-5 times of being told 'no' about getting on the settees (purely cos there's not room!..lol) he hasn't tried since even when in the lounge on his own.
His first encounter with a long mirror was interesting - Obviously wasn't happy with his hair that day!:).....He's our gentle giant and we're hoping he continues to settle well into our family and routine as we all settle back to work next week.

We started to put Classic FM on low on on our TV when we first had Reg and did the same for Ollie. I'm nor sure if it helps them settle but it's just part of our routine.
Friday 19 Aug 13:10
When we first had Alfie he suffered from separation anxiety, especially at 3.00 am in the morning! We then started to leave the radio on low for him, with that and a little patience he is now fine. I hope Fudge is settling in, he is lovely.

Be happy fudge with your new family mate xxx

It gets better every day. We will have had Ollie two weeks this Sunday and night times have been the most difficult, even though we have a second grey, Reggie. Last few nights, he has slept soundly downstairs with Reggie but we are still getting up between 5-6 am to let him out for a wee. Fudge is beautiful X X

When we got our last grey Jack he suffered from terrible separation anxiety, i.e weeing in the house, and the fantastic Jim Greenwood who is a dog trainer gave us this tip which really worked for us. When they have been fed and walked and are relaxed put some relaxing music on (we used Pan Pipes, awful i know) stand them next to you and stroke them from head to tail using slight pressure, kind of like a massage for about 2 minutes, do this every night for about 2 weeks, and when you leave them put on the same music and they will associate it will being relaxed ,and this should help them to settle. We also used a dap collar at the same time. Hope this helps. Xxxx

Fudge is being well behaved and is following us around like a shadow. He is enjoying his food and walks, making his mark in the local area. Daddy is very tired today after sleepless night with Fudge's separation anxiety. Hoping he'll improve and be less stressed over the next few days when we're not with him....He also realised there's water in the toilet bowl.:)

Fudge had quite an unsettled night with Ruth after his big op yesterday, but seemed content enough back in his kennel today and was soon adopting his favourite position - upside down with his legs in the air!! His medication is helping him to feel a lot more comfortable, although he is not too impressed with the cone he is wearing at the minute! Such a lovely boy, here's hoping he can find a comfy sofa to call his own soon. X
Thursday 28 Jul 23:25

Hey Fudge you look adorable, hope your poorly paw gets better real soon baby xxxxx
Wednesday 13 Jul 18:50
What a cutie! He's really small for a male greyhound and was very gentle and loving. His paw seemed a little better and he managed his walk with no problems. I don't think he will be at Daybreaks for very long! xx
Tuesday 12 Jul 19:35
Poor Fudge such a beautiful lad! Hopefully we can get you better quickly xx
