Lady gets the bravery award today..... the poor tot was bitten in the night by her kennel mate and I had to take her to the vets where she was stapled this morning. She is bright and now has a kennel to herself surrounded with toys. If only she could find a home... she has been here far too long :-(

Big thanks Norman for taking Lady out for the day. She is such a lovely girl who really deserves her chance now. I think on the evidence of today's trip out it shows she has lots to offer and will fit right in to that special forever home. Fingers crossed that she doesn't have to wait too much longer. As Daybreaks longest resident it is nice to sometimes get Lady out and about and have some time out of the kennels (comfy as they are).
Today she has paid a visit to Roy and Michelles field in Snitterfield where she was able to run and play with Bertie Blade and Fred and enjoy all the sights and sounds of the countryside.
In the adjacent field there were several dogs running free having their exercise. Lady took all that in her stride.
Her behaviour while running and playing with the other 3 greys could not be faulted.
Sadly the weather turned wet and very cold so we were forced reluctantly(!!)to the local pub where the log fire warmed both humans and greys alike. Again although her first pub visit she behaved well.
After 4 months in kennels this attractive enigmatic girl with the best pointy ears you will ever see deserves to find her permanent home.

Please prospective owners don't rule out a dog that may appear lively in the kennels most dogs will soon settle once a lead has been put on and they are out and about on a walk with lots of interesting things to see and smell! This girl has waited far too long for her sofa.

Lady came out for a walk with us on Saturday and was a treat to be with. She is a delightful hound and should really have a proper home by now. Quite difficult to understand why she is still at DB.

Oh lovely Lady we we're all so very sad when you didn't like our crazy Daisy as we were all so looking forward to you joining our family, especially as you've been waiting for such a long time. My darling daughter, I positively skipped through my walk today at the good news. My human mum and I have had many chats and debates about you over the past few months. As your brothers all got snapped up so quickly we were very upset that you continued to wait, then wait some more. We decided that whilst I will always be your Daddy I might not be the best animal parent as since the loss of my 2 stepbrothers I have become a very spoiled mummys boy and I'm not sure I would be happy to share her again. I am so pleased that I got to meet you, as well as my sons, and I am very proud that your Mother, Candonomore, and I created such handsome babies with lovely characters. My Mummy and I both wish you the wonderful retirement you deserve and pray that your new home will be full of love, fun, adventures but most importantly commitment for the next 11+ years. So happy for lorrainewsm and Lady. I did their original homecheck when they lived in Birmingham. They adopted Penny who went to live with their mixed breed dog Copper who passed away at the ripe old age of 16. We went to see them in Somerset where our greys ran on the beach with Penny and Copper. Penny helped us at Crufts.
Lorraine contacted me last night through Maisie's facebook page, which she is following, hoping that I was who I was!!! They had lost Ruby last year, who also came from us, and were finding that they had a greyhound shaped hole in their family. Loraine had fallen in love with Lady on our website. Lets hope things work out well, Lady will have a fantastic home.

Many of our volunteers and helpers at Daybreaks always have our favourite kennel friends, a boy or girl who we take a particular interest in and follow more closely than all the other beauties. Its no secret that little Lady is very much my favourite and I am very sad for her and at the same time amazed that she hasn't been snapped up right away. I cannot understand why she has waited so long as she always greets me with a kiss and cuddle whenever I visit. I'm keeping everything crossed for her for as much as I love to see her I'd like it to be as a much loved pet as soon as possible. Please somebody give this little poppet the home she so deserves xx

Such a shame for Lady but it has to be right to work. I feel for the family concerned. I'm sure another sofa will come along soon.

It's been a late finish for us today as Lady has just been returned after being homed this afternoon. Her new owner was understandably too upset to bring her into the kennels but felt is was the right decision which we support. A family member told us that she had become very excited in the garden and frightened the younger family members because of this.

Lady is our longest stayer and we are desperate to find this little girl a home. If you would like more information about her, please do not hesitate to give us a call at the kennels.

So very pleased to see that Lady has found her forever home. Lady spent Christmas and the New Year being fostered in our home and she was golden. We are just so happy for her. Much love to her new owners xxxxx

End of a shorter working week than normal, but Lady and Peggy have been golden. So 3 full working days in the house on their own and they have been brilliant - nothing destroyed and no mess! Lady just needs some fuss, food and a garden - she really is a lovely girl!

Well, what a little star this girl is! Having never been in home before she has quickly settled into home life. Today came the first "back to work" test - five hours for Lady (and Peggy) in the home today and they were amazing! She would benefit from a room with a view as she loves to watch the squirrels and birds, but she is such a good girl and gave us the most amazing welcome when we came home. She is so full of life and just needs a loving home (and a garden with squirrels and birds would be very nice too!!)

As well as having lots of fun with us, Lady has "passed a number of tests with flying colours!". An evening was spent with a lovely but lively little dog - she showed initial interest but then just relaxed and sat down. Four young children in the house last night, including two two-year olds and we can confirm she is wonderful with children too. New Year fireworks were once again no problem. Cats - well if you have a cat Lady probably isn't the dog for you. Lady is gorgeous and she just needs your love!!! To view her in our home please contact the kennels asap xxx

The lovely Lady showed another side to herself last night - she has absolutely no problem with fireworks! Someone was celebrating something very local to us and Lady just carried on strolling round the garden, ignored all the bangs and happily watched the display! Please could someone find room in their life for this girl? - kennel life is not for the life for this lovely Lady, she is an absolute dream!

Lady, together with Peggy, has been fostered with us since Christmas Eve. Can't believe how quick she settled in to home life, having never been in a home before! Surprisingly she's already house trained, so no problems there. She's very inquisitive - every open door is an opportunity to explore and loves watching (and chasing!) squirrels and birds in the garden. She stands her ground and can be a little stubborn at times but she's full of fun and really loving. She's fine around children but doesn't seem keen on little dogs that she's seen on walks. Lady would make the perfect pet!!!!

So happy Lady and Peggy will be spending Christmas together in a foster home. Xxx

Somebody is going to have a lot of fun this Christmas. Lady & Peggy are great together and I would not be surprised if they didn't make it back to DB.

I am over the moon that Lady, our longest stayer, has found a foster home for Christmas. She has gone out with her kennel mate Peggy (Lottie) and both will be back on 2nd January.

Little Lady had a lovely walk in Elmdon park this morning, along with Peggy. She was very well behaved and loved watching all the dogs and children playing. She really wanted to play with the dogs off lead! Xxxx

Little Lady and Peggy will hopefully be joining myself and Mum for a walk in Elmdon park Friday morning. Hopefully they will enjoy some time out of the kennels for a few hours :) xxx

Lady is such a sweetheart, come on people give this girlie a chance, how can anybody resist that beautiful face and those wonderful ears, our grey Jack has got even bigger ears than Lucy and they are a constant source of amusement to us, everybody comments on them, so funny but so cute. If you are ever in need of a hound to watch tree tops for squirrels, Lady should be your first choice. Not a lot escaped her attention during our walk this morning.

Lady is such a tiny little thing that the 26" coats are too big for her and she ends up wearing them either round her backside like a skirt or they fall off completely and she is wandering around in just her fur!! She has blossomed into such a playful little thing too, so trying to secure a coat round her is just one huge game! Bless her, she's a real sweetie. x

Lady has today paid a visit to Emdon Park where she loved meeting the many other breeds of dogs there in a happy whirlwind tail wagging friendly manner with no aggression whatsoever.
She can however get very excited when seeing loose dogs running free off their leads and is keen to join in the fun. Consequently she is probably best suited to a strong handler when walking in the park.
She is a beautiful looking girl who will be a wonderful addition to any family able to give her the active life she will enjoy

Super hound with the best ears ever. Can be bribed with liver cake to do almost anything.

Had the pleasure of a quick snuggle with gorgeous little Lady earlier, when she brought uncle Norman back from his walk down the lane! She's a little poppet and liked to give and receive fuss. Beautiful. xxxx
