Most of you will remember 'Heart Monitor Tommy'! Unfortunately he was bitten by one of the greys he lives with and his owners were due to fly out to Germany the next day! Not wanting to put him into kennels, he has come to stop a few days with me for a bit of TLC.... he is being a perfect house guest however Foxy is not so impressed with the cone of shame and keeps telling him off!

Hello everyone...Tommy here...i have not been able to write as mummy started a new job and has been mega busy and I couldn't sneak her phone...but all is well...my siblings and I are all well and happy...i am still full of mischief but mummy says it wouldn't be me if I behaved....i am taking my heart tablets every day and go for lovely long walks and there is nothing wrong with me...hopefully I can get to be as old as Daisy and Rossi who are 13.5 and 12.5 years old...that would be great...wishing you all a happy New year and sending you love....Tommy Tomster xxx

hello all....its me Tommy....or the bloomin big nuisance hound as Mummy calls me....as you all know my brother Darcy can open cupboards and oven doors...well i bettered that...i ripped the ikea shelving off the wall the other night....there was a loaf of bread on it you see and i jumped up and pulled at a corded travel mug and after a lot of tugging the bread finally fell down....unfortunately so did the shelf with all the dishes on it....plenty broke but the loaf of bread was edible so all was well....until daddy came running down the stairs....he could not believe his eyes....if my parents wouldnt love me as much as they do i think i would be in trouble...especially as i have started to boss Rossi about...he hasnt got any teeth so he cant nip back....i did get in trouble when i took a chunk out of him...so i am now muzzled when left with the others....between me and Darcy we are the most troublesome gruesome twosome ever according to mum...however its Rossi's 12th birthday today and i have been nice to him and not growled at him once....so all is well....love to all from Tommy Tomster

Hello everyone... Tommy here...got some news...Mummy had a voicemail call from Jorg the heart vet today....as always he spoke in that gobledeegook to Mummy and would you believe she couldn't understand the message....her sorry excuse is that she left that place called Germany when she was only young and she doesn't know technical stuff in gobledeegook....any roads she went over to see Anna who is one of my lady vets and asked her to tell her in English what the result was....and yes its really good news....apparently one of the valves has a malfunction but its not a problem as the main one is totally dominant and therefore my heart rate is almost normal....or within the normal range...I need to r take my tablets twice a day and could live for a very long time....so that's all really good news....I gave Anna a big sloppy kiss and then tried to pull Mummy into the chippy for a celebratory slap up meal but she wasn't too impressed with that...neither were the owners of the chippy when I put on my brakes and decided I wanted to stay there....Mummy had to physically push me out from behind...how embarrassing....she could just have bought me that kebab and be done with it...had a sardine tea though...yummy....lots of love to you all from TommynTomster.....xxx

Hello everyone.... Its me again...I surprised everybody today by walking on three legs....my goodness me...what a fuss...Mummy is threatening me with a visit to the vet girls up the road....she says I am a clumsy clod who doesn't look where I puts my big feet and I don't give a monkies who I step on....well she is right there actually...not my fault humans and houndies are always just where I need to be...anyway I am lame and I am on the sofa with Daisy and daddy.... If I am no better by Monday I am off to see the lovely Ellie or Anna...that's fine though as they tell me I am gorgeous and lovely.... Tommy here....I am in the proverbial doghouse and my brother Darcy...you see Darcy can open the oven door and the cupboards...cupboards have child locks on them now but the oven is fair game ..lol....Darcy opened the oven door and between us we pulled all the dishes out and we also pulled the ovenseal off he door...well it did smell of roast chicken....Mummy is not happy a was even less impressed when I snatched all her cake decorating tools off the work top and scattered them all over the kitchen....I was trying to help...honestly...I was...and D'Arcy also....anyway we have had a severe talking to and have been told we will be muzzled unless we behave....oh dear!!!!!....on a good note we all had zoomies in the big massive field and are now very tired....despite our mischief Mummy and daddy have said that they still love us...phew thank goodness....I was worried for a minute.....b.t.w. Good morning....I have some news....Jorg the heart vet rang mummy this morning and made her talk in that funny voice she talks to Granny Germany....so I didn't understand until she came off the phone....foreigners ....shouldn't be allowed to talk funny...what's wrong with a nice Irish voice like mine????!!! Anyways I am going to see the very lovely Julia and Anna across e road at 3pm today to have my heart monitor fitted again....the plus is I get to see the lovely lady vets again tomorrow the minus is that I shall be a patchwork hound again ....its all grown in so nicely as well....still mummy says I am the most handsome boy no matter what and hopefully we shall find out why my heart makes funny noises and skips as it does...will keep you all informed....love from Tommy Tomster xxxx

Hello all....this is me again....poor auntie Kate pressed wrong button and my message just went pooof ....mummy presses wrong buttons a lot and says naughty words when it all goes pooof lol....anyway we are back from our auntie Emma's holibob farm....great fun....lots and lots of running about in fields and trying to play with the horses....they are not happy to play and will kick so we are not allowed.....doesn't matter anyway as we are way faster than them....we had so much fun....our human cousins Leo and Ollie wanted me to stay forever but au tie Emma reckons she is busy enough with her 7 houndies and 15 horses and mummy said no way Jose so we are all back home.....all snoozing on beds and sofas as all that running is quite exhausting....Taz is snoring his head off....he is a noisy little shit zu....hahaha....any roads hope everyone is well and all you houndies are finding your sofas soon....try to find the corner ones they are ace....lots of room and sometimes mummy is allowed to sit on it too....lots of love from me and my brothers Rossi Darcy and Taz and my sis Daisy.....Tommy Tomster xxxx

Hello...Tommy here...gracious me my mum was in a flap this morning....mum and dad are going to fly to see my gran and grandad on Friday and our lovely auntie Libby was moving in to baby sit us ( like we need baby sitting ?!!!) Hello everyone...Tommy here....I am getting there in training my mum and dad....they have gone and bought special covers for the sofas so I can now jump on and have a little Shuteye....Rossi and Daisy think its great as they also lounge on the sofas again....happy days !!!!!....Jorg the cardio vet rang mum the other day...looks like he is trying to get the lovely lady vets in the village to fit my heart monitor harness soon....so maybe we can find out what makes my heart go all haywire at times....other than that life is good...

Hello all...this is Tommy ....thank you very much for all your good wishes....I am currently snoozing on my bed after eating my breakfast and also trying to sneak a little of my bothers and sister's breakfast too....I like going for walks past the lakes and to the allotment with my dad....we live in the country and its all very nice...I am having my tablets every day which means I get extra bits of ham or cheese which is really yummy....my mummy hasn't let me off my lead just yet as she wants to try my recall out in the sandrun first....she says its just a precaution in case my brother Darcy who has only just started going off lead and I go off for long Zoomies and she can't call us back....once she knows I respond to my name she will let us off in turn.....I don't mind though as I am very settled and happy and get to say hello to lots of other dogs when we are out walking.....none of them as odd as my shi tzu brother Taz though....I did wonder why we have a brush on legs....I love him though his snoring is unbelievable... He keeps us all awake....anyway I will let you all know how I am doing...ta for now....Tommy xxx

Les and I are now Tommy's new mum and dad....he is joining our family of Rossi, Daisy, Darcy all greyhounds and our shi tzu Taz....he has settled in like a dream and we love him very much indeed...????

I had a telephone call today from the specialist at Telford Vets who arranged for Tommy's 24 hour heart monitor. The results of these have to be interpreted by a specific veterinary cardiologist and unfortunately the cardiologist himself has undergone a heart transplant!!!!!
Therefore, due to technicalities, the heart monitor needs to be done again and this is going to be arranged at a specialist centre in Derby where Tommy is currently being fostered.

Tommy is doing fantastic in his foster home - so much so that Ina (many of you will know or remember her) and her partner have offered Tommy a forever home despite his problems.

I am over the moon that there are people out there, kind enough to take on a potentially very poorly boy - this is one of the high moments of the work I do at the kennels xxxxx

Thankfully, Tommy is doing fine at the moment. :) Unfortunately we are still waiting for the results taken from the heart monitor. Xxx

Hope tommy is ok, been thinking about him everyday. I'm over the moon with his progress with food etc. He is such a handsome advert for the breed.

Met Tommy today on a visit to the vets. What a gorgeous boy :) So loving and a real fusspot. So hope his heart gets sorted out as he will be a wonderful addition to any home.

Oh my, the love Tommy, he joined us, with Ruth and Andy, at melbicks this afternoon, he was amazing such a wonderful ambassador for the breed.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him with his heart. I'm so pleased to hear about him around food, because he is a wonderful dog who is very loving and gentle and always wants a cuddle, I love him very much and miss him, I wish things could have been different for us.

Tommy had his heart monitor fitted on Wednesday evening and removed yesterday. The poor boy has a fine collection of shaved patches :-(((

He was quite uncomfortable whilst he had the monitor attached as this had to be fitted so securely with plenty of vet wrap and elastoplast :-(

He was extremely brave with having it removed yesterday evening and his activity log has been forwarded to the vets in Telford for it to be assessed along with the monitor readings. He has been started on some medication and we will know more about his heart problems soon. I will keep you posted.

In the meantime he is at my house. I have a hectic few weeks coming up so if there is any kind soul out there that could foster him for a short while, please let me know. He is gentle, good with other breeds, clean in the house and has been amazing around food (he even left sausages on the side when I told him 'no'!!!!!)

Had some cuddles with this gorgeous boy today. This afternoon he was due to have his heart monitor fitted so hoping he has been ok with that and that the results will show the best way he can be helped. He is so loving and affectionate and was being as good as gold in the kitchen. Also, he does love Ruth very much! xx

I took Tommy to Gladstone Vets in Telford for his cardiology referral this morning. (We waved at Jembob on the M42 on our way!!!) He was so well behaved and had his investigations without sedation which meant I could collect him just after lunch. He has atrial fibrillation but to further determine why his heart is beating all over the place he is going to have a 24 hour heart monitor fitted so I am waiting for the rest of the equipment to arrive so it will be done this week. Once this is sorted we will have a clearer picture of what can be done for him.

Although I was told not to exercise him initially, as there is the fear he could literally drop due to strain on the heart, as confirmed by the vet today, we decided it is quality, not quantity, so so he has just been running around the sandrun with my boys!!! I am sure he was smiling as he was running!

The vet at Gladstone kindly gave us a 10% discount today because of all we are doing for Tommy and we are desperately grateful for all the donations towards his care.

The heart monitor on loan to me is worth £3,000 so I will have to constantly watch him once fitted to make sure he doesn't damage it!!!! He is amazingly well behaved - was great with a small fluffy dog at the vets - even leaves sausages on a plate if we tell him 'no' - in fact other than his arythmic heart - he is absolutely perfect....

Tried to donate, but it wont let me :(

Hoping for some positive news for Tommy today.We had him stop over at the weekend.He settled in well with Blue & Ben,and we had no issues with them sleeping overnight together.He is very loving and likes a fuss.He does have the urge to sometimes stand on his back legs and put his paws on you but he is very gentle,and this could very easily be corrected,It's just his way of saying hello.He had a good look around the kitchen but didnt eat anything,and also behaved himself while we had sunday dinner,but he would have to be quick with me around!He had a play with some toys and settled down nicely in the lounge with our two in the evening.Tommy is a lovely lad and will make a lovely companion.

Tommy was admitted for investigations today and unfortunately he has serious problems with his heart which need more intensive investigation before it can be determined if medication can help him. This would involve a referral to a specialist in Telford which is going to cost the Trust a substantial amount.

We have had the Pet Blood Bank (PBB) at Daybreaks today and Tommy was one of the nominated boys to donate.
Unfortunately it was found that his heart has an extremely irregular beat and he was further checked over by Fivelands at the PBB's advice.
He is now booked for an ECG tomorrow and we will keep you posted as to how he gets on. Fingers crossed it is something that can be easily managed........

I'm so happy for my tom tom to be reserved. I have all of my fingers crossed for him and he's found his fur ever sofa. I hope he does well in his new home, I know he'll smother his new owners in cuddles and kisses. ????

Sadly Tommy has been returned today. His behaviour has got worse with him stealing food and sadly his owner (who is heartbroken) feels he would be better suited to a home with older children.
Tommy is a very handsome big boy who is house trained, can be left during the day, is good on the lead and good around other breeds. If you think you could give this boy a home or would like more information, please do not hesitate to give us a call.

Dynamo is such a splendid chap. I made a quick visit to his kennel this morning to see what he was up to. He's a big softy who loves a tasty morsel. What a great hound.

Please don't be put off by the larger greys, my dog Lottie is on the large size but it has never caused a problem she can squeeze into the smallest of spaces!

I took two of my grandchildren (aged 11 and 5) to Daybreaks Xmas party today. We spent a happy 15 minutes sitting with Dynamo in his kennel. What a star he was, happily giving snuggles and letting the girls stroke him - a real gentleman. He is going to make someone a brilliant companion. xx

I love this big, handsome lad. He delights in standing up and putting his front paws on your shoulders for kisses, and we had real snuggles as I was coating him up tonight - guess he just loves company. x
