We are so very sorry to read your sad news about Gracie. It must have been such a shock for you all and we know she will be very much missed, as she was such a big character. We remember when you got her and you’d always had greyhound boys, along came Gracie and well, what can we say? She’s had the best family and that’s all we can ask for these beauties once they come to us as pets.
Paul and I and the girls send you all our love at this difficult time, while you find your way through the coming days.
Fly high and free to the bridge Gracie, to meet your friends old and new xxxx

This is the one post I never dreamt I would have to make, at least not yet.

Our gorgeous Gracie has gained her wings. She became ill a week ago,and despite the best efforts of our own vets and the Willows sadly continued decline until we had to let her go.

Gracie was a loving, gentle girl who loved cuddles and fuss. She had a cheeky side and could easily get up to mischief if she thought she could get away with it. She was totally besotted by one of our sons, and even though he is 23, he was still her favourite and would get her cuddles before any one else!

Our hearts are truly broken.

I cannot believe how time has flown by and that it is so long since I last posted!
Gracie continues to be both a complete sweetheart, totally mischievous and an utter monster all in one body! One minute she’s curled up next to you being fussed, the next finding a sock, shoe, towel (anything else) that she can steal or up to some other naughtiness, and then back to being golden, best behaved angelic dog ever. (At least that what she thinks.)
She has a real stubborn streak and if she makes her mind up that she either will or doesn’t want to do something, that’s it, and no amount of bribery cajoling or persuasion will change her mind. Training class is a prime example. She loves going to her classes and she’s more than capable of all the exercises, but on so many nights, I tell her what to do, and she stares at me as if I’ve told her to fly to the moon, or do something she’s never done before. So I am astounded to say that last night she passed her GOLD level, on the first attempt! She did not put a paw wrong.I am so incredibly proud of her as she had some serious distractions that she totally ignored.

So, along with Andy and Norris we now have 3 Gold level greyhounds in the house. (Though at times it is difficult to believe, but we love them anyway)

Well done Gracie! I am on holiday in Aberaeron where the owners are really dog friendly. But your castle with sausages sounds great! Florence xx

What a week! Three days on holiday at a lovely dog friendly hotel (it was actually a castle), in Brecon which provided sausgaes for the dogs at breakfast. In fact the dogs got their sausages, before before the humans got their breakfast! Needless to say, someone did not want to leave the dining room. Literally, we had to use another sausage to bribe her out of there!

Gracie has been unsure of little dogs, which has been a work in progress, since we've had her, but while we were away, there were all sorts of dogs, and all size of dogs, and she was absolutely golden. No
Staring, growling or snapping whatsoever. The castle cat was a different matter, but maybe we'll forget that bit!

Then, tonight at training, Gracie passed her Bronze Good Citizen. What a way to end a great week. Well done Grace, we're really proud of you!

One week in and what a week we've had with this little girl.

She and Andy are a pair, and have been seen cuddling together on the same bed. When they go out, they follow each other, they are always together. Norris looks at them, and you can see him thinking, "will you pair grow up".

Gracie is a hooligan. She has stolen 2 tins of baked beans which she has managed to puncture leaving a trail of bean juice, a can of cider, which she also punctured leaving a puddle of cider on the new rug, pulled the net curtains down when a cat dared to walk across the front garden. That's just for starters.

She went to a mixed breed training class on Thrusday, and she was golden. I was concerned knowing how she responds to cats, but she was absolutely fantastic. She wasn't bothered by the other breeds and she is learning what "down" means, walking well on lead, and even did a recall. I think she is going to be lovely to train.

She is very friendly, and loves her fuss, although she prefers men to women. I'll do if there's no-one else around, but if Dave or the boys are in, generally that's where she will be.

Overall, yes she is as daft as they come but she's very intelligent, very loving, and she got us all wrapped around her paw!

We lost our non grey, Missy, recently. She ruled the home, and Norris and Andy seemed to be quite down and almost lost without their top dog. She left a big gap after 16 years.

We decided that it would be good for all of us to have another female in the house, and Gracie seemed to fit the bill. We did look at some of the other girls, but Gracie was the one, and she got on with Norris and Andy which was the important thing.

Well she has been here 24 hours and I'm not quite sure what's hit us. We have a greyhound who has taken over the sofas (Missy wouldn't allow any other dog on them) And Gracie does take up,the whole space. She goes upstairs which is new to us, Norris and Andy take one look at them and run back into the lounge. When they go in the garden, Gracie and Andy are like a pairs of naughty children, running round like whirling dervishes! Norris just looks at them wondering what they're doing!

She's a lovely girl, very inquisitive and into everything. I think we are in for some fun with her!

Gracie has today paid a visit to Solihulls Brueton Park with myself and 7 year old Grandson. Her behaviour towards other breeds and everyone she met including small children was perfect. She travelled well in the car.
She is keen at first on the lead and may need a harness when out walking. Otherwise she was perfect in every way and will be a wonderful asset to any family able to offer her the permanent home she deserves.
