On Christmas Eve, six years ago we formally adopted Lyra. She is an absolute joy and we adore her. She has been bouncing around this afternoon with her partner in crime Cracker generally causing mischief! :)) Xxx

A big cuddle to our little spotty girl tonight. Lyra is nine today :))
She has had a lovely day, started with opening her Birthday cards, one of which was full of Gravy bones, thank you Shirley! Xxx
This afternoon she and Cracker went to Castle Bromwich Gardens, they had a great time exploring and doing lots of sniffing! older Brother Skip decided to stay and relax at home. Xxx
After dinner it was egg custard time...Skip was the first one up for his! :)) Lyra is now spread full length across two beds, fast asleep. :))

It's that time of year for Bonfires and Firworks when my little Lyra spends a lot of time in the spare room...her safe place, snuggled in a big blanket listening to Pet Classics on Classic FM. Have been sitting with her on and off during the evening and heard someone request a mention for their Tortoise! :)) Fortunately Skip and Cracker are not bothered by the Fireworks but Lyra gets very stressed. I can recommend the Pet Specials on Classic FM, the gentle music does help her to relax and I have found Pet Remedy spray very effective too. She doesn't shake as much. It's a bad time for many of our Pets...Xxx

A message from Lyra...."At last! Egg Custards tonight for me, Skip and Cracker to celebrate my 8th Birthday!! I made sure Kate had written them on her shopping list....you just can't get the staff these days! :)) Thank you to everyone for your concern and support. Greyt update on little Lyra, she is so adorable. So pleased all now seems well. Xx

A big cuddle for Lyra tonight. Two weeks ago she managed to slice her carpal pad whilst playing in the garden with Fletcher. She had a trip to the vets without me as I had recently had a cold and understandably due to the Corona Virus situation I wasn't allowed to take her. Richard very kindly took her for me and picked her up later in the day after she had five stitches. He and Lucy also took her for a dressing change too, thank you both so much. Xxx
Trying to keep her quiet, stop her bouncing from bed to bed, playing with her toys and running around the garden has been so difficult as these are the things she loves to do!!! :) No walks the first week and only short walks last week, she has been so very fed up and frustrated.
Her stitches were due to come out today and with the vets permission I took them out this afternoon. Touch wood all looks good. :)) She celebrated by chasing her ball around the garden. She was so happy! :)) She is affectionately known at home as Lyra Nightmare....always doing something she shouldn't! We love our little spotty dog very much. :))) Xxx

It's been two years today since we officlay adopted Lyra...earlier John was reading some of the comments we have made about her. How she could empty her toy basket but didn't put the toys back, well two years later nothing has changed, she still leaves them all over the floor or in the beds! :))) She is a happy little soul who makes us laugh and gives lots of cuddles. She is our beautiful, funny Lyra Nightmare! We love her so much. :))) Xxxx

A big cuddle for our little spotty Lyra tonight. She has officially been part of our family a year today. She is completely mad, loves her toys and adores brothers Skip and Fletcher. Several times a week they trash our lounge...toys are disembowelled, beds wrecked and sofas dived on and off! I love it and I love them! Happy Christmas to our furry family. :))

Lyra has just returned from her first trip to the seaside! She had a lovely time and was so exhausted after long walks along the beach and hills even she was too tired to play! She did find the steps from our accommodation a little too steep for her; she could get up but not down...I got plenty of weight training carrying her down them several times a day :) Thankfully Skip, Fletch and my sister's Greyhound Max didn't need any help! It was so lovely being able to spend lots of time with them all. Xxx

At last I have a homing photo of Lyra...thanks to Sara. She took the photo on Thursday despite being in pain with what she thought was a pulled muscle! In true Sara style while she was waiting for the ambulance to arrive she dragged the SD card from her pocket and said "You will have to put your photo on the website" Bless her! A big cuddle for Lyra, Skip and Fletcher to share. Definitely can't have anymore!

Lyra had a check up with her vet today. Her paw is healing well but it will be another week before she can come for walks with us. :( it has been "fun" trying to keep a bandage on her leg...she gets so excited playing with her toys it has flown across the room several times! :))) Fortunatley she is now able to wear a couple of socks instead. :) Xxx

I have a little girl asleep on the sofa next to me, so now seems a good time to change her red sign to a green one!

As it's the start of a new life for her we have decided to give her a new name too. Lots of names have been discussed but we have finally decided to call her Lyra - the name of a small constellation. We think it suits her...John also liked Nut, Egyptian goddess of the sky! :)))

We are looking forward to sharing our Christmas with Lyra, Fletcher and super Skip. Xxx

Spotty dog has spent the day at the vets today. X-rays showed the reason for her limping was a foreign body In a pad on her right paw and a corn on her left paw. All sorted now...she has a big purple bandage on the left leg, so won't be able to do very much "rocking around the Christmas tree" for the next few days. She is so quiet tonight; very sleepy after the anaesthetic, not one toy played with!! Think the boys prefer her this way :)) Thanks so much to Chris at Fivelands Vets for taking care of her. Xxx

Our lovely little spotty dog is settling very well. She absolutely loves toys and empties the toy basket several times a day! Hasn't learnt how to put them back yet. :) She also needs to look to see if there is anyone in the bed she wants before diving in; poor Skip has been squished more than once. Xx

She really is a tiny little thing...after receiving a treat and finding Fletch standing in the way of her bed she decided the quickest route back was to just walk underneath him! :))))

Very sadly Maggie has been returned to the kennels today.. Her owner is seriously ill in hospital and her husband understandably is spending all his time there and feels it is unfair on Maggie being left so much.

As she is used to a home environment, she is currently with Ruth.

It is a desperately sad situation and we send our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

OMG Maggie is the cutest girl. She is so beautiful. We are bringing our greyhound Dodger to Daybreaks on Saturday march 18th, to choose himself a friend...... if Maggie is still there I will pray they get on together so she can come home with us. We lost a grey a while ago.... and finally the time feels right to offer our sofa to another long legged lovely. SO Rediculously excited!!! ????????

I walked this little girl this morning and she really is a stunner! Such a beautiful spotty coat. Even noticed some motorists looking at her as they drove past! She walked well too and seems very affectionate. xx

Called into the kennels this afternoon to bring some fish and hopefully to meet the lovely Maggie. Had a lovely time with her for a cuddle and a play, she really is a sweetie, her tail never stopped wagging. Who ever gets to give her, a forever sofa is going to be really lucky. If I could have sneaked her out without Richard noticing I would have done. I'll just have to give her my cuddle on here.
