Florence Likes to slurp at a whisky and ginger if she can get near it....... Glad she's not the only miscreant and that Ella and Rio are having such a lovely time together. Xx

Ella I'm delighted you're settling so well and having fun with Rio, but I'm not sure imbibing gin and tonic is the thing to do!!! It sounds like your Mum and Dad certainly have their hands full with you two partners in crime!! Xxx

Lol, very funny, my grey Jack has been known to enjoy the odd slurp of red wine (her prefers Merlot) when a glass has been left unattended !!!!!!!

Ella's Dad called today, he said to let everyone know she is settling really well into her new home. She and Rio are getting on great and cuddle up at bedtime. He is not sure which of them is leading the other astray...on one of the very hot days last week after going to answer a knock at the door; he returned to the garden to find Rio sipping his beer and Ella with her nose in the glass of gin and tonic he had just made for his wife!

He says they are both gorgeous! Xxx

Wonderful to see Ella reserved today. She will be going home in the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed she and Rio rekindle their affection for each other when they shared a kennel at Daybreaks. :))) Xxx

I agree with Caro. The 'oldies' are the best!! My girl is coming ten...adopted when she was six. Seeing their character develop is wonderful. She still has an amazing zest for life and adopting her was the best decision I ever made. Good Luck Ella...such a sweetie :) xx

Please prospective owners do not be put off by a dog who is perhaps deemed middle aged. My two greys are 7 and 9 and still have a zest for life. There is nothing more rewarding than giving a dog who has spent most of their years in a kennel environment a proper home and seeing their joy in the most simplest of things. Please do not over look Ella spend some time with her.

Have just returned from dropping this beautiful girl back at Daybreaks after our day out today. What an absolute treasure she has been, I can echo Kate's comments about her travelling in the car, she is so good you can easily forget she's there!
On arrival at home she had a good tour of the garden, then a good tour of the house - she has one of the loudest sniffs I have ever heard!! And it's no wonder she keeps splitting her tail in the kennels - it didn't stop wagging all day and kept clearing the fridge door of magnets on a regular basis!!
She very quickly discovered the stairs, and negotiated them beautifully without any prompting at all - this meant she could visit my 93 year old Dad who is confined to his bedroom, and give out some of her lovely kisses to him - he loved seeing her.
She made us smile when she had a little growl at the strange dog that was in the corner of the lounge - yes, she had discovered the TV set and her own reflection!!!
Her adventures continued as we visited the Garden Centre where she was very well behaved indeed and drew quite a crowd - it's always good to have the opportunity to tell people about this wonderful breed. After her mini awareness roadshow, she enjoyed some toast at the patio café. She is very alert and was intrigued by everything that was going on around her - I can only imagine what must have been going through her mind today whilst she was having all these new experiences.
She enjoyed her walks, we live out in the countryside so she saw some cows and horses, but wasn't phased by either. She walks nicely, but can weave a bit if she smells something interesting!
We both think that she will adapt very quickly into a new routine when she finds her forever sofa, she listens and responds well and didn't leap up and follow us every time we moved.
Our plan was to go to Wren Hall, but I hadn't realised that it was Grand Prix day which meant Michael was glued to the TV screen this afternoon! However, after all her adventures she was spark out fast asleep on the sofa and I hadn't the heart to disturb her, so we didn't make it for our cake.
Nigh night gorgeous girl, I bet you will sleep well tonight after such a busy day. You did amazingly well for your first foray into the big, wide world and have showed that you are ready to be part of a family, especially if they enjoy receiving many kisses from a happy and affectionate girl.
Angie xxxx

Michael has fallen big time for this pretty and affectionate young lady. Her tail wags like crazy when you greet her, and she listens and watches intently when you talk to her. If she is still in kennels next weekend, Michael would like to give her a day out on Sunday - ending up at Wren Hall for some fabulous cakes! Sending her a big cuddle this evening. xxx

Ella went to see the vet this afternoon for the first part of her vaccination. She was brilliant in the car jumped in with no problems, lay down and went to sleep. :) She was a very good girl, but she didn't like the injection and squealed! She did forgive the vet and licked her hand! Ella is a real sweetheart. Xxx
