Yesterday it became a year since we lost our Barney. We still think about him and remember how special he really was. What happened to him was devastating and it left us heartbroken. We still haven’t fully recovered. Everyone who knew him saw how special he was. There will never be another grey like Barney. He was so nervous when we first had him and to see how happy he was with us just before his accident really melted our hearts and we knew we helped him. Barney we still love you and thank you for allowing us to be in your life. Also thanks to everyone at Daybreaks and Klaire as without you we wouldn’t have met that beautiful boy. Xx

Russ we are so grateful to have you as you have helped us in many ways. Barney would have loved you and I know he guided us to you. Thank you for keeping us interested with your weird obsessions with the washing up bowl, the bin and your burns travel container.

Thank you all for the messages it means a lot. Barney was shy and nervous when out meeting people and scared of bikes. In the house he was the boss and did what he liked and was really king of the castle. He gave us so much love and laughter and his crafty little ways of stealing everything that he was not supposed to touch. He slept with me every night till I was a sleep then went downstairs till I woke up. He was one true lovely friend who will be so sadly missed. Run free my boy and thank you.

We are absolutely heartbroken. Barney has now passed away. The vets can’t do anything as his injures are worse than expected. Even if he was to have surgery there was a really low chance of survival. Everyone loved him and he will be truly missed. He was a great boy. Thank you for the support. Xx

Barney gets my cuddle today. Everything is crossed for him. The neurologists at Willows are amazing. They and the physio got Skip better after we were worried he could be paralysed after his stroke. Let's hope they can work their magic. x

Hello Everyone. There has been an incident with Barney which is not looking good at the moment. This happened Friday evening and he completely stopped walking on Saturday morning. He has been to the vets and he has been referred to Willow’s Vet. Vet currently thinks he has nerve damage as he has been reacting to us touching or pinching his back legs. We are on our way to Willow’s now and will keep you all updated. Please keep Barney in your prayers. Thanks Barney’s Family.

What a day! I met Santa! I loved Everything, it all started with seeing Auntie Kate while she was walking the residents! I was very happy to see her! It was so nice see everyone and get so much attention. Santa was great he gave me treats and cuddles! I even got a present! Don’t know what it is but it smells nice! I asked for lots of food for Christmas because it’s my favourite thing! I helped Florence out as unfortunately she couldn’t make it today so I helped make sure she got a present off Santa! Can’t wait to see her at Christmas! I heard Auntie Klaire last night. It was really weird because I couldn’t see her but I could hear her. I tried my best to find her but apparently she was only FaceTiming what ever that is.

Came home from work yesterday and Barney the shredder was at it again paper everywhere.ripped envelopes and old phone book. And today got in the kitchen and came upstairs with a whole malt loaf in his mouth that he would not let me have and even growled at me for trying to get it off him. It’s now twice the size with the tugging to get it off him with teeth marks on the one end.

Oh no loud bangs are back again. Time for Classic Fm Pet sounds, calming plug, collar and thunder shirt. Going to be a long week. The music is really helping totally recommend the Classic FM! Anyway I am terrified I’m getting better but still very sacred. Currently upstairs not moving for anything not even food! Well I might have been sneaky earlier when the bangs weren’t around. Mom was out on poop scooping duty in the garden while Samantha and Dad was at the football so I took my opportunity to allow myself in the kitchen and sniff out some of those tasty bones that Auntie Klaire gave me! Didn’t think she would suspect anything but I was caught out by the loud noise the stupid packet made. Oh Barney, didn’t we have fun! Mom told me I was going to see you but I didn’t believe her, especially as we travelled for 8 hours and picked up Rosa on the way. I loved seeing you all and swapping beds and hoomans for fuss and love. I think you won the ‘waggiest tail’ competition and I won the ‘waggiest tail with a milk carton attached’ competition. This weekend was AMAZING! Friday night we went on a super long drive. It was 4 hours! I didn’t know where I was but I saw Auntie Klaire and started to get really excited! Then I saw Florence when I got inside! Was great to see you again! So we spent the weekend at Uncle Robert’s house with cousin Acer and her new boxer puppies. Sister Samantha wanted one but we wasn’t allowed! We had a great time and yes we played Musical Beds and Musical Dinners which is where we swap dinners with each other! Haha! I loved the garden it was just like a massive field that I could run around in for ages! It was amazing! I had to tell Acer off a few times as she did get a little too much at times. I would just like to say how much my confidence has grown. I was a very good boy and I came up and asked for fuss and walked around. I even was confident enough to try and steal food when I could. The hoomans are so proud of how far I have come with my confidence and they are so happy I am improving! They have helped me so much! Anyway it was such a wonderful weekend and I miss it. It was so great to see Florence and Klaire and I really hope we meet up soon. Hopefully it will be at Christmas! Lubs Barney Xxx

Well the hoomans are having a hard time getting me out the kitchen! Now that I have discovered the tasty looking room I can’t stay out of it! If the door is fully closed I either stand at the door crying or I go upstairs and listen out for a hoomans sneaking in to get something. Mom went and did the bins yesterday so as soon a I heard the door open I was down like a rocket! No stopping me! The disappointment in my face when I had to be kicked out again was mean. I stole a pen! Unfortunately I was caught before I got to the exciting bit! It just has a crack in it now! The hoomans heard me crunching on something and ran into the room. Which meant the tasty looking pen was taken off me. Very disappointed. The slaves say I act like a puppy. They still love me for it!

Mom was out all day last night which meant I was with daddy and Samantha. Samantha also disappeared for a bit then came back I was very happy to see her!

Then mom finally returned! She said she brought something for me. Samantha asked if it was another Greyhound. Unfortunately it wasn’t. I could already tell what it was as I had my head in the bag the whole time until she got out my present! It was the best present ever! Sausages!!! Boy I love food but my favourite it sausages! I nearly ripped the whole bag up before she had a chance to give them to me! He he!

I just found out that my sister has been at my favourite place but I looked at my food bowl several times and she wasn’t there but then I discovered she was on about the horrifying building where these people check you over and scare you to death. Not fun. Don’t understand why she wanted to work there for a week! Barney Xx

My sister has been out everyday this week! She comes back very late each day. She just disappeared so when mom came through the door I greeted her for a few seconds and went straight past her looking for my sister. I hoped she was with mom but no. But nearly two hours passed and she returned home. Boy was I glad to see her! Daddy isn’t very well so I’m trying to be Dr Barney but I can’t really do much apart from squash him and love him! Sister Samantha keeps asking for another grey so I have someone to play with. She asks everyday but mom says no room. Hopefully she will give in at some point!

Well today has been an adventure. Apparently I have been a very good boy!! We drove for a few hours to this town called books Stan. I do wonder what his favourite books are and it’s very weird how I haven’t met Stan yet. The hoomans say it’s in Derbyshire. Anyway as I’m here I just want to say how dog friendly the town is. Huge park to walk around and lots of dog friendly cafes and shops!!! We are going to adventure to the pet shop tomorrow. Exciting! We have our apartment which we will be staying in for a few nights. I have my own corner where my fold up crate is with all my toys food and water! I love it but I just wish it was a bit cooler! As for my anxiety, I’m getting better but still quite wary when I’m around a lot of people. Also the traffic is quite loud. I’m now relaxing and ready for tomorrow!

Hi Barney, sorry to hear you were so frightened last night. Fletcher, Lyra and Bobby were terrified of the thunderstorms last night too. :( Bobby was so scared he came upstairs; he hasn't tried to get up the stairs since we had him. Poor lad. However Skip slept through it all! Bless him. :)) Xxx

We heard a horrible storm outside late last night. It was scary. Lots loud bangs. Dad took me downstairs as I was very anxious and he just sat with me.

Now the loud scary storm is gone and we have this big heat attack. It’s so hot I can’t stand it. I constantly have a cold towel on me and my hoomans are happy that I have finally learnt that the fans cool me down and won’t hurt me. I love fans!

Well my family disappeared for a week. Apparently they went on another one of those silly cruises. Don’t see the point really. Anyway they have now returned and picked me up early straight after their flight. I’m now just excited to go away with my family for a few days. We can all be together. Barney was in the dog house yesterday he done is shredding with a lot of envelopes belonging to the wife. He tried it with my Father’s Day card while I was reading it on Sunday. Cheeky boy.

Hi everyone, unfortunately my best pal and cousin Florence has gone back home. Been quiet since she has left and miss her loads. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we are back together again.

Had a greyt time at the run today with the whole gang. Thanks for coming Auntie Jo and gang it was lovely to see you! Florence loves chasing everyone as I just jogged along at the back. Auntie Klaire really wanted to get an octopus for Florence while we were at the kennels. There were loads of amazing toys for sale. I got one too! Thanks so much Auntie Klaire for my long doggy! Unfortunately the dog can’t run so I just throw him across the room in excitement.

Of course before Florence left we had our last game of musical beds. Best game ever. You should all try it.

Yesterday we went on the Global Greyhound Walk, my hoomans loved it whereas I couldn't stop thinking about getting on the car and going home. I was shattered when I got home. Met so many lovely Greyhounds. Everyone was lovely and I got a lot of attention.

Florence and I have the run on Thursday at 10. I’m still really looking forward to it not long now! Hopefully we will meet Auntie Jo and gang there too!

I’ve been naughty today. My hoomans are not very happy with me. I’m still after the ham thing and they are still trying to train me to leave it alone. I’m getting the ignoring me and muzzle punishment every time I do something wrong! The slaves think I will give up and learn eventually.

Another naughty thing I’ve done it eat mummy’s envelopes that she was going to use. I got the muzzle for that too. Luckily they said they love me no matter what. Then if it couldn’t get any naughtier I try to take a box to my bed and tear but this time I was caught...

A new small, very small furry thing has joined the family. Apparently it’s called ham something but I like food! I’ve been too interested in it and every time I get too excited I have to be take away or get my muzzle on! I’m getting better. How dare my hoomans take me to the horrid vet! They know I don’t like it there! Was shaking and was determined to not enter the scary building. I was forced. Forced I was. Poor little old me had to sacrifice the pain. Thankfully everything was all ok! I’m a healthy Grey. The vet lady couldn’t see anything wrong and she even gave me a treat. Not so bad after all but I will still refuse to enter every time!

Hello everybody, it’s been a while! Thought I’d give you some updates.

Well what have I been up to? Not much. I have been doing some recycling though. Mummy brought a new magazine so I decided to shred it apart as she already read it so I thought I was being helpful. Not sure how happy she was...

A few squirrels have being appearing in my garden. So I love to chase them down the garden and try to follow them up the gate. Unfortunately I can’t reach the top so I just have to stare at them. It’s better than nothing I suppose. (I heard my humans just mention squirrels so I came running down the stairs going mad. False alarm)!

Today I have decided that it is make a toy mess day! So if you don’t know what this is, you have to go mental with every single toy! Everywhere my hoomans go they end up stepping on a squeak. Oops...

So yesterday my hoomans decided to take me to that horrible caravan again we all know what happened last time. I hated it but this time it wasn’t so bad. My hoomans are very proud of me and they said I was a lot better than last time. I got on well with my Labrador friends but they can be very annoying at times. I’ve go a lovely Easter egg! I’m sure it won’t last long. If I have the chance I will eat it all. I’m not allowed unfortunately. I’ve also got a cute bunny toy for Easter as well I love it! Have a greyt day! Love Barney Xx

The other day dad decided to give me a dental stick! Which I love! However instead of the ones that he wanted to give me I walked off with a completely different packet! Then I had to rip it all up afterwards.

Today was the funny part. I was after dad’s jam doughnut so as he was trying to get it away from me all the jam ended up on him. On his face everywhere. So funny! Barney xx

Hello everyone. Amazing to see Rocky and Jet gone! Please be Treaty and Daisy next!

So last week my sister went to Crufts!!! This meant loads of things for me! Did not take me long to run off with the bags and grab everything. Of course I did my recycling with them after. Not sure how happy my hoomans were. Looked like a shredder exploded. One bag was taken off me though. I heard my hoomans say it was my birthday present. Bit early. Anyway I soon found the food but before I got into it they were taken away! Not fair they were mine! I hope they haven’t eaten my food. I tried to help them with their dinner but that didn’t really work either. They said to me that “you don’t share yours” well I believe that’s different. Why should I share! Trying to get mummy to get me a brother or sister is proving to be difficult. I won’t give up!

It’s very nice to get a lovely greeting when I get home but Barney can get very excited with all the scratches I have over my arms and legs and quite painful. I have had a little word with him about his roughness and I hope he was listening. How different he is from the quiet shy little boy I once knew.

I’ve not been upstairs at night recently this is because I almost force my humans to sleep on the floor and I then take the bed. They try and get me off but it doesn’t work so we normally have to do the food technique! This involve trotting down the stairs and getting a treat to make me go downstairs! It’s quite fun actually. I read all the comments on this site and I must say the amount of love,hard work and worry given by everyone at daybreaks has to be commended. The amount of time spent making sure there beautiful greys are found not just a home but the right home and looking after daybreaks at the same time. I don’t think you get the gratitude you deserve.

Now then Barney - we know that since your visit at Christmas Florence has tried out our bed, she knows she’s in the wrong and gets off when told. But last night she got on while I was in it and today when we returned from a short trip out one of my slippers was nestled between the pillows! I’m not in my humans good books at the moment... Even though they give me enough attention I want more so yesterday I decided to do pee pee in the house even though I went pee pee not that long before. I didn’t ask I just went. Today has been even worse. I planned to pinch mummy’s fish and chips. She sneezed so I tried to take my opportunity but that didn’t work so my plan B was to jump on top of her grab her fish and run off. That worked. Nobody look very happy... I got a bath as punishment!

Oh it’s too exciting! Florence is here with Auntie Klaire. As soon as she came we had to do our favourite game of musical beds! Great fun. Can’t wait for tomorrow when we go to the run. I won’t actually run but I’ll have fun watching Florence. I do hope Flloyd and his family can come along too it will be great to see them again. We will go for a walk soon and have dinner. So exciting!

This morning I decided to wake mum using a very good technique. Slowly make your way to the rubbish bin and take everything out. Proceed to rip up everything in there and make as much noise possible. Works every time. Normally ends up with a human slowly getting up and gives you weird look. You then find them cleaning up! After that I stroll downstairs go to the treat draw then just stare at them demanding for a treat. Works most of the time. If they ignore you do a little whine.

Barney was a very good boy over Christmas and showed us he needs another grey around to keep him happy. Normally very nervous around lots of people but was the golden boy this Christmas. Does like to chat to Florence in the early hours but that’s ok I was in the other room fast a sleep.

Hey Barney, mom says it was wonderful to have you all visit and she hopes you can come again soon. I am missing you already but have reclaimed the settee from your family and am spreading out as far as I can. Hoping your mommy lets you have a brother or sister, just give her the 'eyes'!

Well we are back home from a long drive again. Apparently I was a very good boy on the way home. Not a sound off me and I went for a pee when we stopped. The past few days have been amazing. Yesterday we spent the whole day at a friends with me and Florence’s boxer cousin Acer. She is a bit too excited so I have to do a little growl to warn her. It was a nice day. I will miss Florence a lot. I will especially miss the games of musical beds and musical food bowls we did together. It was amazing. She made feel very confident and she is very good company. Will miss her and hope to see her again really soon.

Since we have been home I ain’t moved all this travel has made me really tired. Wales was very nice. I only made a wee puddle twice in the house... I think I deserve a brother or sister after this. Mummy says no though...

Thanks for all the Christmas wishes, I hope all hounds and humans had a wonderful Christmas Day. Hope you got what you wanted from SantaPaws. I got what I asked for. Food! Whole stocking of treats. Well there was a toy but the treats were a lot more interesting. I won’t be allowed them all at once which is really unfair. I had a Christmas dinner for breakfast and dinner. I did help Florence with her leftovers. She also helped me with my leftovers. She eats the bits of biscuits I leave on the floor too. We have been to two different beaches so far which I do enjoy towards the end. When I first get there I do stand there watching Florence running and annoying other dogs. She has a lot of fun but not sure her mummy is very pleased. I have a horrible Christmas jumper on. Not pleased with it at all. I got a super long toy from Auntie Klaire which is perfect I love them toys. Can’t wait for the last few days we have here.

Barney here. Today has been very exciting. This morning we got into the car and went for a seriously long drive. I mean long. About three hours into the drive I was busting for a pee so I made sure to tell Samantha that I wanted to go and she told my other humans to stop the car. After that it was a nice remaining hour of the drive. I could see a lot of greenery and the sea!

Finally after around 4 hours we made it. Still had no idea where we were. I jumped to my feet and squashed Samantha in the process. I then saw Florence and then I started to wag my tail and hit Samantha in the process. All very exciting. I thought to myself this must be the lumpy bit of land that Florence was on about. It’s got a house on it now. Now chilling with Florence I’m the living room. This will be a good Christmas.

Well that was fun. As you know I’m known for decorating the floor and my bed with Christmas tree decorations. It’s happened again. I take them off and my sister puts them back on then I take them off again. It happened for a while until the decorations were then moved higher up the tree.

Well today has been a cheeky day. Well according to my humans anyway. It all started with my sister getting out three things with little doors. She opened one that had a number on it. I didn’t think about it while they were having theirs but as soon as she was getting them out for the little hamsters I started to think. Grab the weird thing with a little chocolate in and run off. Unfortunately she caught me so I ended up waiting. After the hamsters had theirs I had mine. Trust me it didn’t last long not even a second.

This morning when mum woke up I was uncomfortable so I decided to do a bit of moaning. This led to my human waking up moving off the bed to allow me to jump on. Yes I did take all the room so she couldn’t get back on!

Barney is coming up to his 2nd Christmas with us and how times have changed. Gone is that nervous scared to move handsome boy to I will sleep anywhere I want and if you leave it lying around I will have it. No means yes and come on Barney means I will move in my own time.

Well another weird green thing with lights has turned up again. I was upstairs resting and before you know it I travel down the stairs and boom it’s there. Weird. It’s the same as last year but it has slightly has more weird things hanging on it. I don’t know.

Hey everyone Barney here again. The Fireworks have stopped so I’m happy. I’ve gone back to being a food vacuum cleaner. Oh it’s fun. Daddy was eating a sausage roll so I decided I’ll jump onto the sofa grab the sausage roll run off and eat it. It was very nice.

I was starting to smell so my humans had to do me a quick bath. I knew as soon as my collar came off. Oh how I hate it. Surprisingly Samantha managed to keep me under control because she was the only one bathing me. Now I smell lovely.

Last night was terrible. The loudest fireworks ever. Then daddy and my sister were out watching some weird people in a square with ropes (I think it’s called a ring) doing some weird moves. Mummy said it’s called wrestling not sure why that is interesting but never mind. The first thing I did after my visit to the kennels yesterday (it was amazing to see all the amazing people there) I zoomed upstairs with my thunder shirt on and went under my blanket. My humans put the radio on with classic fm before they left. It does help. Apparently I’m way better than last year.
Anyway my appetite hasn’t gone! I still eat anything I can get hold of! I’m just looking forward to when there is a weird looking tree with wrapped presents underneath because I know I’m going to be spoilt! The main reason I am excited is of course because I can see Florence again!

Hey Barney, I am sorry the fireworks are upsetting you again, we haven't had any here. Mom is really upset that she couldn't help look for Bez like we did for you. Her story has touched so many and at least she made it back to people who loved her in the end. It is heartwarming how many people helped to try and find her and the compassion shown by those who did.
Don't think of me as having left you. I will see you at Christmas - mom says you are not allowed to pee on the furniture again though! We have moved to the lumpy big of land in Wales so you can come to the beach with me. Sending love to everybody. Florence xxx

The bangers are back! Noooo. Poor little old me. I just hate them. I hope they go quickly.
Such sad news about Bez us hounds don’t deserve an ending like that. So sorry for everyone involved. You all did amazing and you couldn’t have done anymore. It reminds me of when I escaped. I am a bit of an escape artist aren’t I. I was very fortunate to have been found and I’m very thankful. So sorry for Bez and we will certainly make a donation.
My humans left me to go on holiday! While little old me was alone. Thankfully it was only for 6 days. I may have got a little too excited when I saw them again. Hehe.
Florence has left me aswell. Nobody to play with now. Daddy and Samantha are trying their best to convince mummy to get me a brother or sister. Not working though. See you all soon! Barney xx

I’ve been called cheeky for the past few days. I have these sneaky plans. On Thursday mommy and my sister brought back fish and chips. I’m not allowed anything because of my diet but I do get an occasional sausage. When my humans stopped eating I came up with a plan. I went to the other side of the room and pretended to sleep. After about five minutes I got up and slowly walked towards their leftovers. I grabbed the paper with the chips in and went on a shredding spree. Unfortunately I didn’t find any left over chips but I had great fun ripping the paper. I did leave quite a mess afterwards though.

Auntie Klaire came yesterday to drop something for the little hamster in a cage. I got very excited to see her. The main thing was that my humans had pizza yesterday so again I came up with a plan. Once I knew they were done I pretended I wanted a fuss after about 5 minutes of fuss I turned round grabbed the pizza box and ran away with it. The sad thing is I didn’t get to do anything with it because by the time I sat down my daddy took it off me.

I think Barney has took to retirement really well. It must of been really exhausting all that running because I used to have a lovely comfy bed and plenty of room. Now I have to watch where I put my feet or sleep somewhere else because someone is always there Barney.

I thought I was Barneys favourite but now I realise he loves us all. The other day he pushed me out the way to get to his sister and yesterday he was restless and crying for mommy who went away for a day. He kept going to check to see if she was back yet.

Well on Saturday I met with Florence for a run at the kennels. Well I say run more like jog. Anyway I pinched some treats even though I’m on a diet. I am a cheeky boy. It was great to see Florence and the guys at the kennels. It was not good getting my nails clipped though. But I was a good boy and put up with it.

It was daddy’s birthday yesterday. I may have been a bit naughty... I chewed one of daddy’s cards ! He only just opened it hehe. There is a nice hole in it now. Not sure how happy he was. You know I was sad because I was unable to get daddy a card because I don’t have any pawpounds. Which is money if you’re wondering. So I created a little piece from me. You’re welcome dad!

It’s officially been 1 year since I picked my family. This past year has been great times. I have been from scared to a lot more confident. I’m a very lucky boy with a good life. I hope the residents at daybreaks find their forever home too.

The only downside of today is I had to return to the place with humans wearing a blue uniform. There were other little animals. One dog wasn’t happy because he was barking! Of course I did not want to go in at all. I did it. I had my vaccinations and went straight out. The lady was very nice.

I am now going to relax and be waited on. I have doggy beer ready and looking forward to my meal.

Almost 12 months we have had Barney and he has had is boosters again. He was a very good boy and the vet told us he is being well looked after so that’s nice to hear.

What a great day it’s been, it turns out all of you were right. It was a special day! It all started with a squeaky toy. Samantha came into the room squeaking something I knew it was for me so I got up with excitement. She showed me, it was a rabbit! I grabbed it off her and ran off while going mental with it. So much fun. Samantha wanted to take the label off it but I already did that while I was playing with it. Didn’t take long. I played with it for hours. I really appreciated it because I know she paided and chose it herself. The day got better from there. After a fun day with my family and my new toy. I had a special doggy cake JUST FOR ME! It was so nice. I soon gobbled that down. The only downside was that my daddy booked me in for injections. Have to go on Wednesday, not exciting. My dinner was the best part. A special doggy dinner for me. Which tasted of steak and chips. I had it all to myself. Best day ever! Thanks for all birthday wishes. Talk soon. Barney Xx

I had a fab afternoon with Barney. Don't know where mom and TC went but I'm glad Auntie Samantha agreed to look after me. Batney has the most comfortable bed. I'll be coming for more kisses soon! Mom says she agrees with Auntie Kate, Barney needs a friend! Xxx

Well this afternoon has been fun. Florence has just left after a great afternoon with her. We shared a few kisses, don’t tell anyone! Her mommy asked if we could look after her. We had treats but Florence was slow on eating hers. I offered to show her how it was done but I was soon stopped by my sister, which was unfair. There was a round of zoomies in the garden. We both circled the garden for around 5 minutes. We came back inside and had a sleep session. Once Anutie Klaire returned to pick Florence up we got very excited. Maybe too excited. I may have been a little naughty today... hehe. This morning I decided, while my humans weren’t looking, to pee on the floor. Then I sneaked off pretending nothing has happened. They soon realised though. I’m hoping they think it’s the hamsters. They seemed to look at me a lot though. It wasn’t me! Honest.

Then at lunch time my humans were having McDonald’s. So when my daddy was eating his burger I jumped up and grabbed the other end trying to take the whole burger unfortunately I only ended up with a very tiny piece. My daddy managed to get me away. I was only trying to help!

Hello everyone. First off I would like to wish Auntie Ruth a speedy recovery. She does a wonderful job with us hounds along with her amazing team.

My mummy and sister have been on what I call a ‘Barney shopping spree’. However I think they call it ‘spoilt hound spree’. There were loads and I mean LOADS of stuff for me. I heard my sister mention she got a few things for my Birthday. I’m dying to find out what it is but I’m not allowed to know until September 23rd! Maybe as the food pincher I am I might sniff them out! We will see. I also got a FREE bag of treats from Pets At Home too which was also for my birthday, I am very lucky boy. I got lots of other nice things too. I have my very own beer. Yes beer! I think I’ll be getting some tonight which is exciting. I hope I don’t get drunk. I got so many treats it as amazing. It’s been a great day!

I keep asking to get Barney a play mate but the wife is not having 2 greys in the house she says there’s no room. I came up with a solution get a bigger house.

Well my mummy and sister returned yesterday. I still don’t really understand why they went to look at cows for 3 days but anyway at least they are back. I got really excited when I saw them I wouldn’t leave them alone. I also got a little bag of treats which were great. How did they get treats from just being in a beach with cows I guess I should have been there to understand.

So nice to hear about Wolfy a lovely grey that sounds like he is having the time of his life. Reminds me so much of Barney who loves his dad and is a little mischievous. Barney you are in the bad books with the ladies in the house you let them take you for a walk in the park so you can just stand there and not move. I know that is not the place you go at night. Barney is very fussy there are 4 places he goes for his run and you have to do them in order otherwise he will no move when you get there. 1 place he will only go at night, 1 he will only go when I get home from work (the one they took him too ) 1 depends on the weather and how many people are about and the last 1 anytime of day but must be quiet at night. Barney you taught me well but the ladies have no patience ????

Hey Barney, trying to steal it is not a good idea as the humans get upset, you need to position yourself close by and do the 'I've never been fed or tasted food like that' look. Be prepared to wait, I've discovered they can't resist but my humans won't give me any till they have finished eating. Today I got sausage, waffle and beans using this method! My food stealing abilities are going great. My humans seem to give me a treat before they have dinner. (They try to keep me from stealing their food) BUT I eat my treat as quickly as I can and then start going for their food. I’m only helping them it so I don’t know why they say no. I try to put my face in front of them and snif to see if it works unfortunately it doesn’t if anyone has any tips on how to steal human food please contact me.

Well you may of heard that I’ve gone back to the job of shredding. Yes I have I thought as daddy has finished reading the newspaper (well at least I thought he’d finished) I decided to help him get rid of it. So I took it and ripped it to shreads. After he went through all the effort of putting it the bin I took it out again as I thought it was fun.

Had a lovely walk with Florence today great to see her again. It was really fun and we also fed the ducks!

The paper shredder Barney has been at it again. Came home from work and my newspaper is in bits all over the living room (He don’t like The Sun) After picking it all up and putting in the bin he takes it out and puts it back on the floor. He gets a treat and I get a lecture off the wife for being stupid enough to leave it there. He can do no wrong ????

I look at this site everyday and when you see the red and green flags it makes you so happy for the rest of the day. Then you get home and get a lot of love and cuddles and even the little sneaky things they do when they catch you off guard brings smiles to your face. Very clever and loyal and everyone should own a grey.

I can’t understand how Barney just jumps in the car for everyone else and turns around and makes me pick him up. Also when everyone else is eating dinner he leaves them alone and pinches mine if I look away for a second. When I trained him it was for my benefit not everyone else’s. At least he comes to me for a cuddle.

You are probably wondering what I’ve been up to. Well I still like food. I do pinch daddy’s biscuits occasionally, don’t tell him! I’ve learnt how to get food off my wonderful family. Want to know? Well all you do is go up to where the treats are kept, in my case the special draw, and start sniffing to get your family’s attention. Then put the ‘I’ve never been fed face’ on and your family should bounce up and give you a treat. It’s very good.

Raymond during which we exchanged pleasantries with those we passed,I have returned to Hotel De Elmdon. One retired to recuperate and partake of a light lunch before indulging in this afternoons treatments in the excellent and well equipped spa. Barney Gumble Esq.

One had a spiffing time yesterday, one promenaded round Sandwell Valley Park before enjoying ice cream. To be precise one was unsure what to do when presented with ice cream but Florence kindly demonstrated, having finished her own she promptly consumed mine. Feeling so sorry for ones poor family in a caravan (double shudder) as my high class accommodation and resort is far superior and much more suited to a hound of my class. One believes one is seeing Florence again on the morrow before taking advantage of the spa facilities. Affectionately Barney Gumble Esq.

Well it appears I have enough points to join the Diamond Club! I have been upgraded to a suite with a view. The resort beach is fantastic with pristine sand that stretches for ages. I’m very sad that my family are going away they say they will miss me so much and they wish I could go. I don’t want to leave them. Daybreaks will be a great place for me to stay and my family have asked if it is possible to help me write my stories because my paws are too big to do it on my own.

Holiday for Barney at Daybreaks that will be fun for him I don’t think. Tomorrow will be a sad day letting my baby out of my sight for a couple of weeks. Will really miss him and have given him lots of cuddles and treats.

Well I just blocked my sister from being able to put my dinner on my stand. I was waiting patiently staring at her but eventually I moved and she put it down. I thought it was very weird that she was keeping it to herself it’s not very nice of her and I think it’s a bit greedy as she has her dinner already, which does look a lot better then dog food. I put the ‘I’ve never been fed before’ face on it didn’t work.

Barney is going back to Daybreaks Saturday for a 2 week holiday. I feel so bad about leaving him so we can go and enjoy ourselves. I will miss him really badly and send him a big hug everyday.

I met up with Florence yesterday for a walk she didn’t want to go home. Instead she was quite keen to come with me. On the journey back to our house I decided that out of all the space I could choose in car I would sit on my sister lap and squash her so she cannot move. I thought I was keeping her safe.

Mummy is finally home! I was looking out for ever car which looked like hers. Then she finally arrived home earlier today. So happy to have her back but I’m keeping an eye on her to make sure she doesn’t leave me again.

I hate fans. So I’m trying to fit under a table. It’s not going well I only have my head under. I am next to the fan though so it’s progress.

Well I had so much fun at the Daybreaks party today. So glad Florence could come. I got to meet lots of other lovely hounds. It was great to see Auntie Ruth, Auntie Kate, Auntie Jo and all of the other volunteers again. I had a lot of fuss. My dad got me a new collar and the best part a biscuit!

Apparently we won the raffle. I’m glad they are drinks I get very thirsty in this weather but daddy says I can’t have any! Not fair. Hopefully we will come again in the middle of the week to pay a visit and pick the up.

My sister had a great birthday but I’ve been very quiet the last few days. Mummy has gone away for 8 days. I’m missing her a lot. Every car door I hear I get up to check if it’s her. She FaceTimed yesterday and I got up with excitement thinking she was home but no she was talking through a phone.

Well it’s my sisters 16th birthday today. I’m really excited because at 11 we will be going for a walk with Florence and then stop at a dog friendly pub for lunch. We will also be seeing other family friends. I hope I get sausages!

Apparently my family were “dying” yesterday because of the heat. I wouldn’t let them put the fan on! It’s a bit scary. The noise it makes isnt nice. So when they did I decided to whine and then refuse to come down the stairs. Great trick. They turned the fan off. They had red faces after though.

Something werid is going on. My family were jumping up and down at a screen where people were kicking a ball into a strange looking net 6 times. They say it’s a ‘goal’. Apparently I should be happy. No idea why that is so amusing.

So yeah, my family went off to London for the day to celebrate end of exams and Father’s Day. While they were gone I spent the day with Florence. It was fun but I was a bit scared to walk without my dad. Thanks for the great day Florence and of course thank you for sharing your bed with me. I had fun too. Barney is in training because got fed up of having my biscuits stolen and eating my dinner with a nose in it. It is going to be a long process because he goes a little deaf when I am saying no. He now knows who’s in charge and it’s not me.

Well whats happened recently? Not a lot. Had a bad stomach for a week or two but it has cleared and now great again. Sisters last exam tomorrow which is good, she can have a break. Well that’s what she thinks. I have gone back to being a shredder. Don’t worry Auntie Kate you can hire me when you would like. Finally I pinched daddy’s biscuits and stuck my nose in his dinner. I have just learnt how to get a ball and bring it back. I got a shocked look off my mum and sister when I suddenly picked up a ball and gave it to them. There was an even bigger look when I actually went after it when they threw it!

Well last night was just crazy. No thunder or rain, actually nothing at all. Not one drop. I was panting scared stiff. My sister finally got me to drink water when she got my food bowl stand. They put me in the bedroom to rest but the only thing was I didn’t come out at all. It was a horrible weekend.

My bleeding leg has stopped and now looks better. At least I won’t be going to the scary vets. Had me worried. Well I was already worried to be honest. My dad put me back in the car this morning and we drove for about 5 minutes I thought we were finally going home but no we were at this shopping place with a garden centre. I was a bit calmer there. I suppose I was better because I have had practice from my family taking me to Malbicks. We had a look round the shops and went into the garden centre. My mummy brought me a weird looking bottle with a little bowl at the top. Apparently I’m supposed to drink from it. No idea if I will just seems strange to me.

Then we had another 5 minute drive, thought we were going home this time but NO we went back to the scary looking lorry thing that is like a house. We got In and I ran to the bedroom and drank water and stayed there while my family were having lunch. My daddy came back and told me to get out and that we are going somewhere I liked. He had to drag me because I thought he was going to take me somewhere but home, I didn’t trust where we were going. When we got in the car it was another 1 hour drove and then I realised we were finally home. Yay. At last!

Well today has been very dramatic. We had an hour drive all the way to a caravan. It honestly looks like a lorry with stairs. We were supposed to go at Easter but it was cancelled because of the flood. There is a lot of thunder which caused a lot more drama. I ended up under a caravan next to ours. I was stuck. I caught my leg on a brick. The leg I caught it on was the leg that was bleeding before which means it started bleeding again. Good thing my sister packed all the first aid stuff. Not a good start for a little holiday. Still thunder to come :(

Daddy missed his baby so much and it was only for 1 night. That was the 1st time with out him. Don’t know what I am going to do when I am away for 2 weeks in July. Barney is my pride and joy and we have a lovely bond between us.

Well We went on a 30 minute journey today all the way to have a barbecue. At least I got sausage it was fun. So much fuss and love off everyone. There was a nice park near by where we all had a walk. My family said my confidence has gone up massively!

Just had a lovely walk in Babbs Mill Park with Florence! So good to see her again, it’s been a while since we had a walk together. Why is it so hot. I was really thirsty at the end of my walk. My family offered me water, but did I take it? No! I am silly aren’t I. Who drinks out of funny things like that. I like drinking from a metal bowl! They don’t understand haha!

Well yesterday I went zoomies in th garden when I came back mum was home! She went shopping. She took out a weird shaped item that was wrapped. I didn’t care about the item. I cared about the paper! I took the paper off her and just ripped it for about 5 minutes. It was fun. After my paper madness I saw what the item was. It was another greyhound! It’s quite scary actually because it doesn’t move. I looked at it for 10 minutes it was just staring at me. I thought trying to lick it would help. It just tasted like nothing. Definitely not real.

Well I have been very quiet on here recently. That’s because nothing has really happened. We have another hamster in the house because a cat was being mean to him. That’s about it. Oh yeah, I went to Daybreaks today to have a run. I actually ran! Last time I just walked around like a loner but today I ran and just followed the group. I also had another pamper session I wish that noisy hairdryer goes away. Apart from that it was good. When I got home I realised I had a biscuit. I took it out of the bag and got my nose stuck while I was at it! Not going to lie I did look very funny. It was great to see the gang again and of course it was great to see all the volunteers. I had a lot of cuddles especially from Auntie Kate. It’s always great to see her. I can be your shredder if you want but my daddy said you will have to pay! Can’t wait for the next time I meet up with the gang! I’ll talk to you all soon!

What happened to the snow! A few weeks ago it was snowing, only a few weeks! Now I feel like I’m in a desert, it’s boiling! Daddy is now carrying a weird looking water bottle around so I can drink. They put the ceiling fan on yesterday, I jumped up and ran to the other side of the room till it stopped. It’s very scary I insisted that my sister doesn’t go under it but she does. I don’t how she is not scared. Barney Xx

Who would of thought after 6 months at his forever home the shy and petrified Barney would be the boss of the house and be everyone’s pride and joy. He is a fantastic clever and handsome boy who gives back so much love to all 3 of us in his pack. He tells us when he wants to go out and where he wants to go. He will go to the car if he wants to go for a drive and a longer walk. Get yourself a a beautiful greyhound and you will have so much fun and laughter.

Well I just made it onto Fridays Faces on the Greyhounds Trust Facebook page. No idea what that means but apparently Florence was on there a couple of weeks back. My sister seems to be happy about it though.

Well it’s been a mad weekend with all our plans being ruined but we have still made the most of the weekend. Saturday we still had a meal and spent time with our friends it wasn’t at the caravan but we still had a day with each other.

Sunday we didn’t do much but we went Sheldon Country Park. Mum watched the planes because for some reason she likes them. I find them a bit scary because of the loud noise they make. I had a fab time jogging round. We even met another greyhound called Victoria so that was nice.

Today was very fun. I went to Melbicks. Yes I was sacred but I was definitely better than last time apparently. I let people fuss me and we even saw our friends again. When they left I wanted to go with them!

Well what did I get. I got SAUSAGES and some teeth cleaning thing to put in my water because I’m too difficult when cleaning my teeth. I refuse to let anybody near them. Apparently it is the only thing that will work.

Today has been a good day! Auntie Klaire came over which got me all excited. I went mad. I mean mad. She took my sister out to Batleys. While they were gone Dad took me back to the horrible vets again BUT I was literally there for 1 second! The vet looked at me and said I’m looking great and I’m in the clear. NO MORE MEDICATION YAY! I’m happy I don’t have to go back there for a while. This time next week I’ll be on mini holiday. Don’t know whether to be excited or terrified. There will be THREE other mad dogs there with me including Freddie and Bella! That will be fun... Anyway when my sister and Auntie Klaire got back they started to bring in food and a massive and I mean MASSIVE new bed for me to lie on upstairs. They also brought me the most comfortable bed liner in history! My daddy gave me this hard thing. It tasted nice. Every time my dad came near it I growled. 20 minutes later he gave me another treat. Then when I finished that the hard thing disappeared! It’s not fair. I was enjoying it!

I really love my sister. She spent the day home due to the snow. It was great. My leg is definitely improving, it bleeds sometimes when I catch it. We also noticed a scratch on my bum which bleeds when I lick it. When I ever try to lick it I always have someone running up to me like crazy to stop me. Not looking forward to Saturday but hopefully after that I’ll be fixed!

Hello everyone thank you for the support. Just got back from the vets, my leg is still a little swollen but is ok. I have now started to run in the garden! The vet has given me some medication which will help with the swelling. I don’t want to take it but my family will probably make me. When we first arrived at the vets I was shaking like a leaf. At the end of the check up I got a treat. Probably the highlight of the visit. Have to go back next Saturday for another check up. Don’t know if I will meet Florence Saturday but we could meet after. At least I’m on the mend!

Last night was horrible. My leg turned into a balloon. I was walking on 3 legs. In the morning I had to stay in my bed I couldn’t move. My sister had to bring the water and food up to me. My sister decided I need to go for an emergency appointment so my dad rang up as soon as it opened. When my dad got home he put me in the car and we drove all the way to Moseley. We were there for about 2 hours. I had two injections. I had to wait 30 minutes in-between to make sure my leg is ok. My paw is no longer swollen and I can walk on it. My leg was cleaned and we went home. I am so tired. We have to go to the vets again tomorrow at 11:00. So that means there won’t be a walk with Florence tomorrow which is a bummer. My whole family were so worried about me. I suppose if it means I get better it is probably a good idea to go back so the vets can make sure it’s ok.

I think I need to change my name again. First a bleeding paw, now a bleeding leg. At the park I saw this squirrel. I decided to chase after it but that lead into a disaster. I cut myself on a bush which caused my led to bleed. When we got back to the car my daddy used some paw wipes to clean it up a bit. When I got home it started to bleed again so my sister was there at the door ready to sort it out. She quickly wiped it up again and put a white thing to put on the wound. She then stared to wrap a bandage around my leg. It’s kind of hard to walk but I have to get used to it.
What a lot of drama.

My sister told me the snow will go soon so I decided to go zoomies in the garden. I was out there for 10 minutes until I was tired and decided to finally come back. Couldn’t meet Florence due to the bad weather But to take my mind off it I played in the snow and I’m sure she did too.

I keep jumping on the bed hehe. I can’t help it, it’s too warm and cosy. I always trap my mum by putting half of my body over her so she can’t move and try to get me off. It works because I stay for ages until I go mad when my daddy returns home.

Well I had to tell Barney off today for getting on the bed. I said when he moved in the number 1 rule is not to get on the bed or the sofa. Well he has been a naughty boy. I had to tell him to sleep in the middle of the bed instead because he was taking all my side of the bed.

If I could have a brother or sister it would be fun but mummy says no. My sister wants them all but she really does like Tony so hopefully he will get rehomed soon

When you are working in the same conditions that those beautiful greyhounds are sleeping in you want to take them all home with you. Get yourself a greyhound you will be rewarded with so much love and laughter. If only the wife said go on then we will have 1 more I would be straight there to choose another.

It’s getting colder and colder. Luckily my house has heating which keeps me warm I also have extra blankets. Not worn my PJS yet but may have to soon. When I go outside for a wee is horrible it’s freezing. I run to the end of the garden as quick as I can do my business then run as fast as I can into the house.

The fun but cold white stuff has returned! This has caused the roads and pavements to be dangerous so my sister has no school tomorrow. I think she is happy about it. I’m happy too because I can spend the day with her. Mummy might not go to work if the roads are still bad in the morning. Unfortunately daddy doesn’t really have much choice but if it is really bad and impossible to get there he will be home too. May not be able to meet Florence on Saturday due to weather but if it’s not bad we will be able to go for a walk. We will have to wait and see!

Well I went out for a walk with Florence this morning. Daddy couldn’t come because of work but I still had a lot of fun. Maybe it was a good thing he didn’t come because Auntie Klaire got me a lovely new collar which has the Aston Villa colours. I think it’s set I’m a villa fan. I kind of know what it means now it’s a football team. The problem is I don’t know what football is but I’m sure I will find out. Yes... daddy was not pleased but I’m sure he loves me no matter what.

Apparently Florence has a new furry friend. Hey Florence make sure you be nice and tell Coco to be nice too then maybe the cat will stay and you can play! Good luck.

My mum and sister went to Costco today. They got a free sample of food, chew strips and pig ears all for me. I don’t mind if I do! Apparently it was a good saving. Then they went to Wilko after to get something my mummy needed. They didn’t get it but they ended up spending £20 on me!!! I got treats, dental sticks and a new toy which I helped myself to by taking it out the bag as soon as my mummy put it down. I was playing with it for ages!

Hello everyone, don’t know if me and Florence are meeting but I would like to! This weird black bag came in the post today. I have no idea what it’s for but my sister was starting to put some of my things in it. I think I’m going on a little holiday on the 31st March. I know it’s very early to pack but my sister is putting the holiday essentials in there that we are using. My sister showed me the weird looking bag and said we are going to stay in a friends caravan for a couple of nights. My friend Freddie the chocolate lab and his sister Bella are going to be there too! So I am really looking forward to it.

My sister has none stopped talking about these lions and Aston Villa... whatever they are. Apparently they are playing somebody called Fulham tomorrow, again I have no idea who that is. Apparently she going to watch them. It seems pointless to me but whatever. Apparently they beat some blues guy last week. Anyway it doesn’t really seem and interesting topic even though she insists that I am a Villa fan! I still don’t know what it means. But my dad has been saying that I’m not and I’m a baggies fan... all very confusing.

Glad to see Rory has been fostered and has been offered a home! And of course if me and Florence are meeting tomorrow or any Saturday when we meet, Flloyd is always welcome to come a long is he is free.

I just found out how to get into the bathroom. I turn round and do a backwards walk then open the door with my bottom so the door opens. The only problem is when I’m in there I can’t get out without help. Which means my family find out I’ve sneaked into the bathroom. I get called Mr Crafty for the rest the day then. That’s not the only thing I’ve learnt while being in the bathroom! I realised if you take a roll of white stuff off the stand you can rip it all off and create a mess. So I used two rolls! I tried to act like it’s wasn’t me. I tried to convince them that it snowed inside the house but it didn’t work!

I’ve also learnt how to jump on the bed. I’ve never paid attention to it so my family thought I’d never jump on it. I proved them wrong. I got on then refused to get off. I was forced to get off when there was a nice bone on the floor. It’s been a fun day!

Hello everyone! It was a long morning. The run was great, a lot of fun. Did miss Flloyd though. It was great to see Auntie Kate again, she is wonderful and of course it was lovely to see everyone else. Not sure about one though! She got me all wet and used a loud thing which dried my fur. The bath was quite nice though. Don’t know why but everyone was shocked that I liked it! Unfortunately I couldn’t escape but it wasn’t that bad. I got a biscuit afterwards!

Hey Florence, I remember that plan you made when we were about to go to the run a while ago. It was when you said I bring trousers and you bring a spade. I think I might use this idea on Saturday so I can get out of doing my pamper. Just bring that spade and we are set. Let’s build a tunnel to Ward End Park where all the squirrels are ha!

Me and Florence went to Ward End Park today and it was a lot of fun. I was let off the lead... I ran off! Don’t worry I did come back but Florence tried to run with me. She was still on the lead so she pulled her daddy over... he wasn’t hurt thankfully. If the tree wasn’t there it would have been worse.

Florence saw a lot of squirrels and tried chase one but she wasn’t successful.

Well my family were eating dinner. It looks way more tasty than mine so I started to sniff their food hoping they will give me some. All they kept saying was no! I think it’s greedy not to share. I leave some of my dinner to share but nobody tries to eat it, don’t know why.

My sister came back late yesterday, I was very restless because I really wanted her home. It turns out she went to the dentist what ever that is. It’s something to do with teeth I think. Maybe I should visit I would love a teeth cleaning. Second thoughts I probably wouldn’t! Don’t know if I’m meeting Florence this weekend I hope so!

I think all of us enjoyed seeing our hounds having a lovely run (mostly chasing Flloyd I think). Great to finally meet Barney and Florence and their families they are so lovely. Would love to meet up for a walk and we will have to have another play date in the run. Would be great if we could include some more dogs, maybe the kennel dogs. Xxx

Well the play date was really fun! It was great to meet Flloyd and his siblings! Can’t forget Florence it was great to see her too! I had some fuss and I saw Auntie Kate! It was great to see her again! I was a bit nervous at the start but I got into it towards the end.

I had a good time and I hope we can meet again some time. Maybe on a Saturday walk I have with Florence?? Let us know.

It’s official I’m going to have a pamper session on the 10th. Don’t know if I should excited or scared! I also got a new coat, new collar and a biscuit.

This past week I have been counting the days till my play date. I’ve never been so excited in my life. Tomorrow is the day I have been waiting for.

My daddy says he will try to get me a pamper session. We will see how that goes... Florence hated hers. So that don’t sound promising. Oh well. Florence maybe you can give me some tips on trying to get through it? Anyway see you tomorrow guys!!!!!

I have realised that I haven’t mentioned if my paw is better. I have been out for walks for a few days without any protection on and my paw has been fine. It was red to start with and now is healed. I’m in perfect shape for my play date on Saturday. Can’t wait to meet you Flloyd.

White stuff, which is apparently snow, is coming down again! I want it stick like last time so I can play in it. I want build a snow dog. My plans on doing that is to cover myself in snow for a while. Then there is a snow dog! The bad thing is my sister said it probably won’t last long and won’t stick. We will see what happens. If I just stand outside till it stops it might work?

Barney you are not a hamster so don't put all the bedding over the floor then let dad spend over 30 mins vacuuming it up and blocking the vacuum cleaner.

Barney, this best way to wake your dad up is a sharp woof as close to his ear as possible! Do not do this to your mommy though. If you need to wake her just a gentle nudge and a quiet woof will do, mommy's are specially tuned to wake up for their children! Florence xxx

There was no excuse for chewing my alarm clock. We realise now he only chews things when he needs to go out and you are not moving. He is a very clever greyhound.

Barney, there is no such thing as naughty in a greyhound, tell your mummy it is called character and lots of greyhounds have it, including Flloyd!
Ps. Willow has tried to get Flloyd in trouble nicking cardboard, but got got caught red pawed and fair and square! Xx

Florence and I went for a walk yesterday at Sheldon County Park, it was great. Florence rested her head on me. It was great to see her. Mum had fun watching all the planes land. Apparently I’ve been quite naughty this week... It’s not the tablets. I’m eating them. It’s because I keep taking mummy’s things and chewing them. I got caught. I tried to tell them it wasn’t me but they didn’t fall for it. My paw is a lot better not fully healed yet but should be fine in a few more days. Can’t wait to see Flloyd. It’s all I think about at the moment.

Just got back from the vets! Hated it didn’t want to go in. It did get a bit better when Ruth turned up and gave me some love. I also saw Vera apparently she wasn’t well hope she gets better soon. I guess we are in the same vote at the moment. Well you are probably wondering how it went. It went ok... I guess. The nice vet kept saying I was a good boy and was very gentle. He said my foot was swollen and slightly infected. He gave my daddy some medication to put in my food. There was two sets of tablets. I might eat them might not, depends how nice they are to be honest. Well I suppose I would like my foot to be better so I can be let off the lead again in the park. Overall the vet visit wasn’t as bad as I expected and the vet said hopefully with the medication my paw will get better in a few days.

Apart from my bleeding paw, the walk with Florence went well. I took the walk steady and had a boot on to protect my paw. We had a good time. Didn’t see any scquirrels though.

Well yesterday I managed to cut my paw and it’s been bleeding since. My sister was the first to stop it when she let me out in the morning. She clear it up as best she could it stop bleeding for a while but when I walk it bleeds again. I heard my mum and dad say that they have booked an oppointment for me. I’m going tomorrow and I’m really nervous. My paw doesn’t hurt but it won’t stop bleeding. It’s not bleeding that much which is good. My mum, dad and sister worked together and put a temporary bandage on but it fell off. So they will put another one on as soon as I lie in a good position.

Well me and Florence are going to meet up tomorrow on a walk. I will let you know how it goes. Can’t wait to see her. Just to let you I went to the park today and I saw 3 squirrels! Guess what I did... I chased every single one! My dad put me back on the lead until he couldn’t see them anymore. I didn’t run off I just wanted to play with the squirrels... hopefully we some tomorrow.

Well now the fireworks are gone there is a scary storm! More loud scary noises. It’s very windy! In the night the thunder kept me awake. So I’m am going to sleep most of the day. I went out for a walk and my lead was blowing everywhere. I hope the weather improves.

Well the bangs look like they are gone, I hope they are gone forever. I’m glad they didn’t last that long. My sister said I am a good boy and I coped better than last time. I got some peanut butter as a special reward. I have been on lots of adventures recently. I went to see my friend Freddie, the chocolate lab again today. He has a new baby sister called Bella. She is a cross of a Gloden Retriever and a Labrador. She kept coming close to me. I like my personal space when I rest so I growled at her a few times. Me and Freddie went on a walk. My daddy let me off the lead and I ran so fast. Freddie ran after me but he didn’t do a good job at keeping up. He tried. Hope everyone had a great new year and I hope everyone will have a good 2018!

Well yesterday my mum and sister went out. They were out for a while. Apparently they were doing some shopping to get some bargains on Boxing Day. I’m very confused because I haven’t seen anyone having a boxing fight. All very weird. They came back with a full heavy bag of stuff for me. It was just long big chewy things. They are supposed to keep me entertained so I stopped chewing other things up. It can’t stop me! They should have just brought me cardboard, that keeps me way more entertained. The treats do look quite nice though...

Today my mum and sister took me to Pets At Home! There were lots of people and it was very noisy. I was very scared. I knew I was safe when my sister was stroking me. A nice employee came over and stroked me she also gave me a treat so that made me a lot happier. My mum brought me lots more chewy treats. I also got a long stuffed toy. The only reason I got it was because I tried to steal the exactly the same one off my new friend Freddie the chocolate lab when we went over to their house on Christmas Day. I also tried to steal his chewy bone as well so I also got one of them for me too! I had a great Christmas and hope everyone else did too.

Well apparently it Christmas!!!!! I wasn’t expecting my sister to come to me with a stocking full of treats and toys!!!! I’m so happy and excited for the rest of the day. I also have a new Christmas jumper which I will be wearing today. I also got a lot of treats from family friends. I love Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Well the past couple of days have been great! My uncle, aunt, cousin and Acer the dog came to visit! It was sooo fun... I had a great time running around in the park with Florence and Acer. It was great to have another friend. My mum and dad keep playing weird music it’s something about a man called Santa Claus and frosty the snowman. I wonder who they are??? My family did a present swap at auntie Klaire’s house. I got a new toy!!! I did make a mess on the carpet though... I recycled Klaire’s toilet tube and wrapping paper, it was quite fun.

I just wanted to say it’s great to see all my lovely friends at the kennels getting temporary homes and I’m happy all the staff get a break. Enjoy your Christmas and I hope you get spoilt like I do!

We have our own paper shredder in Barney who is very much into recycling especially Christmas cards. He took the family photos and put them by his bed and never chewed them. He keeps taking the decorations off the tree. Silly me left a bag of pork scratching on the shelf and next thing i hear is rustling and crunching. Wonder what is all over the floor today.

Erm... I may or may have not chewed one of my mummy’s Christmas cards hehe she is not very happy...

Noooooo the white stuff is going away! I was having so much fun running around in it. This morning instead of snow there was ice. It was really slippy and me and daddy were trying very hard not to slip. I don’t understand there was so much snow and all of a sudden it’s gone. There is just a random lump of snow in the garden where the weird white man was maybe I’ll just jump in that for now. My mummy was very busy today she got lots of rolls of paper which I really wanted to run off with but wasn’t able to. She had a bunch of items and put them on the paper I don’t know why she is suddenly trying to hide everything but I guess I’ll leave her to it.

Well things are getting weirder around here. There is really deep white stuff on the ground and trees. It’s cold but I am enjoying running around in it. I found out if you pee on the weird white stuff it turns yellow!!! My sister has been out in garden all day and when she came back in there was two scary white men looking at me. They had scarfs and hats. It’s my house and they shouldn’t be here so I don’t know why they have just suddenly decided to stay in our garden and stare at me. They don’t even move! My sister is off school tomorrow, she is happy and excited. I’m happy too because I get to spend the day with her. I don’t know why she is off school though, can’t all the children walk like I do? All very weird.

I’ve been taking things off this weird green tree. Why should the tree only be decorated? My bed needs decorating too!! I want my bed too look the same. I tried to open my moms Christmas present so I could give it to her, but apparently she is not allowed it yet.

Barney has been decorating our floor and his bed with Christmas decorations off the tree. Also he wanted to open Moms Christmas present. He gets a little mischievous when everyone is out and if we don't let him upstairs to sleep. He would stay upstairs all day if we let him and never come down. We really love being together and are best buddies and if I didn't know any better I would say he was human.

Well I am very excited now, I didn’t know I get presents on Christmas, can’t wait! Wonder what I am going to get??? Have a good weekend Florence. Hope to see you soon!

No idea what the round green thing is but there was one on our door last year and I heard mom and dad discussing if mom was making one this year earlier, think they called it a reef. It's Christmas, that's why everywhere is decorated and covered with lights, this means we get PRESENTS!! Thanks Florence now I know it’s a tree I will probably end up peeing on it. don't think Barney is into the Christmas spirit after stealing the Christmas sign and chewing it. Must be because of the cold he has got because we found all the paper tissues all over the floor and the box chewed to bits. I think I will have to have a few words. From the boy who was scared of everything and everyone to the stubborn confident and boss of the house. Barney is now walking without is lead and never moves more then a hundred yards away from you and comes to you when called and waits when told. His confidence is getting better each day. He does prefer to sleep by the side of my bed and will not move if he gets upstairs at every opportunity. Barney and I are best of friends and never far from each other.

Well my cousin Florence is off to Wales again this weekend. Haven’t seen her since the run. I miss Florence, hope I get to see her soon. Well... what have I being doing? Nothing much. I’ve been opening post, nothing for me yet though, still getting daddy out at 1am and make him walk for ages, sometimes in the rain hehe and I’ve also tried to chase a squirrel up the fence in the garden! I have no idea how they can get up the fence so quickly. When I try I slip off! Oh well I hope I see it again soon! My sister said that I’m turning into Florence, well we are cousins.

Barney has tried opening the mail now for the last couple of days. He knows he is in charge of the house and get away with quite a lot of things. He goes the way he wants to go when going for his walks and goes to the car when he fancies a drive somewhere. We know who the man of the house is. He has us all wrapped around his little paws. He really is 1 of the family and we all love him to bits.

The last few weeks have been difficult because of the fireworks but I have something to look forward to! Tomorrow I see Florence and I visit my friends at the kennels. I’m going to visit all the staff and all of the beautiful greyhounds that deserve a home just like I have. I can’t wait to run!

Poor Barney struggling with the fireworks just 1 of many dogs going through the same thing. He has been really good and funny at times trying to get him out after the fireworks have finished. We are very lucky we have such a beautiful house trained dog.

Tonight is one of the toughest and scariest nights of my life! All I’ve been doing these past few hours is lying on the carpet shaking like a leaf. I went out for a walk just before it got dark and it was fine. An hour later was horrible all I can hear are loud scary bangs. My sister brought my dinner in and I’m that sacred right now I can’t get up to eat it. I can’t stop shaking, my sister but some nice calming music on and it helped a bit it don’t stop the loud bangs. I just want them too stop!!!

Having the same problem with Milly. Have so far worked through the ringing doorbell and food thing but now she is wise to the whole thing! Taking her out just before it gets dark but think we are now resigned to either staying up later/getting up in early hours of morning to let her out when fireworks have stopped. Hate this time of year. Hugs for Barney. xx

Barney is scared of the dark because of the fireworks. The fun and games trying to get him out at night. He lies down and will not shift. Ringing the doorbell worked for a couple of days then he realised it was a trick, going out and coming back a couple of mins later worked for a couple of days then we tried plan C food it worked for quite a while but it ended up a waiting game. So tried plan D tip is bed up thought great got him on his feet but worked a couple of times. Do it now and he falls down like he has been shot. Plan E pick him up after he has been shot and give him a big hug he loves that at the moment then put him down on his feet and grab the coat and lead before he lies back down.

Today I returned to my home and I am loved again by my family! I don’t know if I should forgive them for leaving me with my auntie and going on a cruise but it was really nice to spend time with Florence and get spoiled! It was a nice mini holiday of my own. At Auntie Klaire’s I learnt how to open the pet gate, sleep in a bedroom, take the whole roll of poop bags and run off with them. It was a fun holiday and I want to thank Aunite Klaire for looking after me well and giving me so much fun! When my daddy and sister arrived to pick me up I haven’t been so happy in my life! I was still sad they left me in first place so at first I backed off to show I was angry and then jump all over the place afterwards. While my family was away they brought me a t-shirt that says “daddy’s boy” I guess I am in a way! When we got in the car and about to drive away my family realised they forgot my brother Bert the hamster! They were too busy fussing over me that they completely forgot to pick him up! Hehe at least I know I had a lot of attention. Thank you Florence for the fun and have a good time in Wales I will miss you! Barney xx

I met some whippets and I saw some really big shiny birds flying over while the felt the sun was shining on my back.... I have also mastered opening the pet gate to Auntie Klaire's kitchen, for those of you who haven't, all you have to do is put your head through the cat flap bit, pull the gate back, remove you head quickly and stick your paw in to pull it open! Not really missing Daddy at all - that's not true! Went to Daybreaks today with Florence and played in the run with Auntie Charlotte and Uncle Scott. Uncle Scott ran up and down with me, well I just jogged along side him - he wasn't very fast - but he tried bless him! Gave some love to Auntie Kate but am glad I'm now in my own forever home and hoping that all of the Daybreaks residents get their forever homes soon! Barney. Xx

Missing Barney so much and watching him on the camera at least one every hour. I thought we spoiled him but Aunty Klaire is even worse, he will not want to leave when we get back. I have got him a shirt with daddy's boy on it could not resist it. Daybreaks you do such a wonderful job love reading all about the dogs.

Having a luxury holiday here at Raymond Towers, no idea why mom, dad and Samantha wanted to go on a boring cruise! Have a place for my bed in the master bedroom and the whole house has en suite facilities. Not too keen on today's morning excursion - to Fivelands - but things improved massively once we reached the park. Had a session in the salon this afternoon. The food is of the highest quality and my cousin Florence the perfect companion! Barney xx

We go on our holidays today and we have left Barney with Aunty Klaire last night. We have felt like we have abandoned him and his sad eyes when he tried to go with us and he couldn't. I feel like I have committed the most terrible crime. I think we will have to rethink these holidays.

Barney not a lover of fireworks. Just has we were getting somewhere with Barney the firework season comes around and he refuses to go out. So we have decided to take him out before the fireworks and i take in the early hours of the morning and just get him in the garden with a little bribe in between. He loves his food and ours and he shows lots of love to us all. A really amazing and much loved greyhound.

I have learnt to get upstairs but the only problem is I’m scared to go back down. This morning I followed my sister upstairs when she was about to get ready for school. I was up there for some time and scared my mommy when she woke up. I don’t know why but she was quite shocked when she saw me.my sister wanted me to go back down but I was too scared. She tried to get me to come down for 30 minutes but I didn’t so she went and did my breakfast! As soon as I smelt it I just leaped down their before I could think about the scary parts! What an adventure this morning! hehe

Barney where do i start. I think Barney wants to run the house for us all and he is doing a great job because he now knows how to climb the stairs and wants to sleep in the bed with me. He creeps up when you have your back turned. He don't like being ignored if you do expect your stuff on the floor. He is not a very patient dog and will climb all over me when i get up to go straight out before i am even dressed. Now tell me Barney who is in charge? ????

Today was amazing! I visited the kennels today with cousin Florence I saw Ruth and the other volunteers I was very happy to see them! My buddy Toby came out to run with us. I ran really fast and my daddy couldn’t keep up. I’m very tired now after so much running!

A great day for Barney he really enjoyed and tired himself out. He was so happy with Florence and Toby today. So many lovely greyhounds and a few sad ones. Still have that soft spot for zebadee.

Barney is coming for a visit today with cousin Florence. Hope all goes well and he can show is true self like he is at home.

So today, as you know, I saw auntie Klaire and cousin Florence. It was a great day but now I’m exhausted. We did a lot of walking and all I am doing now is lying down. After a long walk around a lovley lake we all went to a pub that was dog friendly and had lunch. I got some wonderful tasting sausages while I was there but I could see that Florence was eyeing them so I ate them really quickly! I also think she is still annoyed at me foe taking her things, I took her lead today and she took mine. My mummy had a lot of meat left over from dinner so she gave it to me so I could finish it.it didn’t last long! After a very long day I didn’t get up very much but when my sister gave me my dinner I was jumping so much she couldn’t put the bowl down.

I’ve had a lot of fun today. This morning my sister found the rusbbish bin on its side and all the rubbish on the floor! It was me!! Hehe at least I was entertained for an hour last night! I tipped the bin over took the rubbish out and ripped the bag that was in there into streads! My sister gave me a few weird looks after but didn’t shout. When my dad got back he was eating a very tasty looking sandwich. I stole half of it haha! He asked me if I took it, I just stared at him while he was also gave me really weird looks. For dinner I’m haveing battered sausage and chips! My favourite! Tomorrow I am going to see auntie Klaire and Cousin Florence. So excited. I’ll tell you how it goes tomorrow!

Who would have thought the very shy and timid Barney had a very cheeky character just waiting to emerge! Bless him!! :))) Xxx

Burglar Barney struck yesterday but don't have any proof. My half eaten Tuna sandwich disappeared and I asked him if it was him but he kept quiet.This morning he emptied the rubbish bin all over the floor. And had my slippers. I think it's time to let him know who's boss with a few more harsh stares.

I have daddy just where I want him! I've made him walk me at 1 am each morning! I don't think he is too pleased about that! He tried to training me using a bone but that didn't go very well! I had to wait so long just for a treat. He just didn't get the message I was staring at the bone for 10 minutes and I still didn't get it so I decided I'll just stuff idea and walk off. At dinner time my sister gave me my food before she started eating but I think human food looks a lot better so I tried to pinch my dads dinner. I didn't get it! Earlier today my family came home from Tesco which has a pet shop next to it. They brought me back some bones and a car seat protecter/hammock so I don't fall of the seat. The bones smelt really nice so I decided to pick the bag up and take them to my bed. Unfortunately my sister caught me and ran after me to get them back. At least she gave me one bone! I also just wanted to say it's very nice to see that all my friends back at the kennels are getting red signs and being rehomed! Good luck to them in their new lives!

I think Barney has got me wrapped around his little paws because he gets walks at 1am before i set off to work and as soon as I walk in the door about 11am he likes me to take him out. He even has Samantha take him in between in the garden. He has tried knicking my sandwiches and dinner. He is eating well and have started training him to wait but if you take to long to give him the item he says stuff you I don't want it then. When he made a puddle in Aunty Klaire's house I told him he would get no treat and a very long stare.

Barney, you know Auntie Klaire doesn't mind if you make puddles, she'd rather you didn't but she understands that it happens. You were a good boy for your injection and she's really proud of the way you are settling into retirement! Xx

Today was a very scary day! Well for me anyway. I got my daddy to take me out for a walk at 1am. Normally my dad wouldn't mind but in this case it was raining and was very windy. I didn't mind the rain and the wind but I could tell my dad was freezing and soaked by the time we went around the park. I am still a bit disappointed about him keeping all my the dog food to himself yesterday so I suppose I could call that payback. Later on I went to Klaire house and made a nice puddle for her even though I went out just before we arrived. But she didn't mind, I hope... I also went to the vets for my injections. As soon as we arrived there I knew exactly where I was. I didn't want go in so I decided to stand in front of the door hoping my dad would give up waiting and take me back home but he didn't. So that meant I had to go in and have the injections that I was scared of. I could feel the needle go inside me but it didn't hurt that bad. After I had my injections the vet gave me a treat. Of course I didn't take it so my daddy gave it to me when we got home. More exciting days to come!

Barney don't mind telling me he likes going for a walk at 1am with the pouring rain and strong winds. Not many other plonkers around walking around saying good boy at that time of a morning. ????

Barney is such a breath of fresh air in our house he has come along way in a week and the greeting I get when I come home from work is amazing. With a little bit of patience and a lot of love given out the end result is incredible. Take my advice let a greyhound adopt you.

Oh Barney - your stories make me laugh! You sound like your settling really well. You've come such a long way from that houndie that ran away into the rain. Looking forward to more of your adventures! Loads of hugs. xx

Today has been very exciting! However in the morning I was busting for a wee. So I decided to make a lovely puddle while my sister was about to put the lead on me. I ran to my bed after because I was scared I was going to get in trouble. I thought my mummy and sister was going to shout at me but surprisingly they didn't. They just sprayed the floor and stroked me. I don't know why but they never shout at me. A couple of minutes later my sister went to school I thought she left because she was angry, I was watching through the window then she smiled at me and walked off. Around 10am my dad arrived from work, I was the most excited I've ever been. I tell I lie I was just excited because I knew I was finally able to go out and do a poo that I was busting for. Then my dad went out again I was very confused because he just took me out and then left. I saw his car go so I just layed down in my bed and slept. An hour later I heard a car door. It was daddy, he was carrying lots of dog food. He came in and put the food down I went up to it because I thought he was going to feed me but instead he picked it back up and took it upstairs. I thought that was a bit unfair and very greedy of him to have that food to himself. I also saw Florence and Klaire today that was very exciting. Couldn't wait to get out of the car.

Today I went to Melbicks! Before I went inside I stood in front of the entrance for 10 minutes then finally got the momentum to go inside. A while later I met wolfy and his new owners they really nice and gave me a fuss. Then we went to the pet corner where they have so many toys! I got doggy peanut butter and a food bin. To be honest I was actually hoping to come out with a toy as well but never mind I still got a lot of attention! When we went to pay the lady behind the counter gave me a bone biscuit which I didn't want to eat. She then gave the bone to my daddy and they gave it to me when I got home. It's been a very good day and I will speak soon!

Barney met Wolfy today with his owners and what a beautiful dog very nervous well loved by his owners a lovely couple. It goes to show what a lovely collection of greyhounds Daybreaks have and the hardwork put in to find a home.

Yesterday I went for a morning walk. When I got there I saw auntie Klaire and cousin Florence!!! I was so excited I jumped straight out of the car dragging my dad behind with me! Eventually he caught up when I stopped for a fuss. Later on in the evening we had some visitors they gave me some presents which I love. I could smell that the visitors also had a dog. I really liked getting a fuss off them and I was sad when they left. After I went night walk before I went to bed. When I got home I was shattered, I feel straight to sleep.

Today I am going to Melbix and I am looking forward to it. I am a bit nervous because there will be lots of people but when I get to the doggy isle I will be very happy! I let you guys know how it went later

Barney has really brought a lot more happiness in our house since his arrival. He has his own bed that he loves to sleep on at night in the living room and he has not shown any interest in anything that don't belong to him although the tuna sandwiches were closely watched last night and my tea was almost taken. We can leave him on his own a little while without any worries and without his crate (That is going by the way) we always get a lovely greeting when we return and a waggy tail. If anyone ever thought about owning a do dog then a greyhound is the perfect companion.

Barney has had a wonderful day. This morning he went out with cousin Florence and aunty Klaire he was so pleased to see them he could not wait to get out the car. Barney is very pleased that some of his friends have reserved signs on.

We had Barney in is crate at night for 3 nights because he was so nervous and then he came out on Thursday and made him self at home. We put him back in Thursday night although he was not that keen and was quite happy on the living room carpet next to us. We have left him out since and he is feeling really quite at home. He will lie down for a bit then come to me for a big love and fuss and then go back to sleep. He is fantastic in the house and let's you know when he wants to go out. He is not quite so nervous when out for his run now like he used to be and seems to know where is house is. He loves plenty of fuss and he is a true winner in our hearts.

Well my first few days with my new family have gone really well! Couldn't ask for a better home. I'm relaxing after a few nervous days. My cousin Florence has been visiting me a lot and I am really pleased to still have her and klaire in my life. After my sister got back from school we went for a nice evening walk in a park nearby. It was really fun. When we got back I accidentally knocked over my mummy's water. I thought I was going to get told off but my sister and mummy just looked at me and said 'oh dear Barney' and cleaned up. And after I got a nice bone biscuit! Not so bad after all.

Barney has been a really good boy and after a couple of nervous days has started to relax a little today. I am so lucky that Klaire decided to look after him or we would never of met. Thank you Barney and thank you Daybreaks for everything and a special thanks to Klaire for all the help.

After first night nerves Barney is a little more relaxed this morning took Barney had a peaceful night and had a little treat for being a good boy. Barney did not want us to go for a walk with him last night because he would not move for quite a while but in the end after begging him for quite a while to let us go with him he gave in. Fantastic dog and we are honoured he chose us.

Lots of love to Barney tonight. It was great to meet his new Dad today when he came to the kennels to officially adopt him. Wishing him a very happy new life. :) Thanks so much to Klaire, Trevor and Florence for fostering Barney until his new family could take him home. Xxx

Today has been one of the most nervous days of my life. I went to the kennels to have a picture, I'm must be famous. I was greeted by all my fellow kennel friends and I was very loved. When I arrived at my new home I was very unsure of what was happening. A few minutes after the arrival my sister returned from school. I was happy to see another familiar face. When I saw Florence my face lit up with excitement. When auntie Klaire and cousin Florence had the leave I didn't know what was happening and I was very nervous. Later on in the evening my dad and sister wanted me to have a walk. I really had to go but I was too scared to leave the house. They had practically drag me out of my crate. At least I got a treat for it!

So Barney has left us today to go to his forever home. It has been a pleasure to look after this gorgeous boy and we are so happy that we will be seeing him regularly. Barney Boy you have landed on your feet, be so so happy with mom, dad and Samantha. Xxx

Burglar Barney has struck again.... I had put together a bag of dog biscuits for him to take to his new home, although they were contained within 3 bags BB managed to sniff them out and pinch them. He thought he had got away with by stashing them at the back of his crate but gave himself away rustling as he got into them! Glad nobody filmed me crawling into the crate to retrieve them.... Xxx

Tomorrow I move into my forever home. I'm really excited to stay with my new family. Auntie Klaire has looked after me really well and I will miss her. She has being called me weird names recently. It might have something to do with me pinching things. They looked interesting that's why I pinch them. I will also miss having fun with cousin Florence, she has been good company and she is a good roommate. I did try to pinch her cushion though I don't think she was happy about that!

Barney has had a lovely birthday. This morning he went for a walk with his new mom, dad and sister before visiting his new forever home for a while. He had sausages for tea and has started to venture into the lounge to join us. Florence was not impressed when he went to sit on her cushion and dived in first. He thought about giving the sofa a go but I think the daggers been sent in his direction as Florence realised it was her end he was thinking of using were suffiencient to stop him! Coco alternated between hissing at him and vaulting him and Barney gave Mr Darcy a friendly lick on the head. Xxx

Today I went for a morning work with my new mum, Dad and sister! I was nervous to start with but I started to feel very happy towards the end! My cousin Florence came a long too its very nice a mate to hang out with but sometimes I feel she is annoyed at me for taking her bed! After my long walk I was tired. My daddy took me to my new home and I loved it. I had a big explore and the rug in the living room is so comfortable. Can't wait to move in next week.

Walked Barney yesterday while he was back at Daybreaks. He got off his bed and came to me with a waggy tail - so much better than the previous week when he stayed huddled up on his bed. I thought he may be a bit nervous of the traffic after his adventures last week, but no, he trotted along with no problems. He's a really lovely boy - I'm so happy he will soon be off to his new sofa. xx

Barney is back with us again having spent last night back at Daybreaks as we had to go out early this morning for the whole day. On Sunday we took him for a late night walk with Florence, Monday he looked at us as if we were mad and refused to leave his crate, this evening we decided to leave him be. Florence and TC got togged out and were about to leave when a waggy tailed boy appeared from the depths of a crate saying "me too, me too". So despite the fact I needed the loo and had just made a cup of tea I harnessed Barney, shoved my feet into shoes and headed out too. My reward, a boy with a relaxed tail which by the time we were nearly home was turning up at the tip. Bliss! Xxx

Barney will have plenty of love and care in our house from next week and really looking forward to him being part of the family. He deserves to enjoy his retirement and have a good time with people who will give him all the love in the world.

This fantastic lad has a red sign! I couldn't be happier, I wanted to keep him and although TC fell in love with him he didn't think we could manage two long term.... But my brother in law fell in love too and Barney is being fostered by us until the paperwork is complete before finding his new forever sofa early next week. He is an amazing boy, bright and intelligent he personality is starting to come out of him even recognising our house on only his third walk. Xxx

Reading Ruths post below, it is just amazing how you managed to survive - her heart must have plummeted when she saw you lying there. Once he realised what was happening Batney was happy to go for his walk. He did not pull on his lead. He was a little concerned by the main road but who wouldn't be after Friday! He meet 3 non greys and showed no aggression. With hesitation he let them greet him and greeted them back. He is now enjoying a tub of doggy ice cream. Xxx

This lovely lad slept through the night without a whimper. Was happy to see us this morning and has started venturing out of the front room for short periods. Having done his business and eaten a hearty breakfast he decided to christen the lounge rug and my sewing table! Never mind it was soon cleaned up. He is still taking little notice of the cats but the look on Coco's face when he realised there were two greyhounds in the house was priceless, he looked back and forth between them as if to say "I don't believe it", neither he or Mr Darcy seem bothered by the new arrival though. Xxx

Barney is spending the night with us, he behaved in the car - well he took over the whole back seat and Florence had to stand up and unlike yesterday was reluctant to get out! He has decided the front room is his 'safe space' and immediately goes back there when he has been in the garden. He has pinched Florence's bed in there, when he got up she pinched it back so he decided to join her, she ceded it back to him! He has eaten a hearty tea and been impeccably behaved. Coco has biffed his nose and Barney took us all be surprise by licking Mr Darcy's ear as he walked past. He shows no real interest in them. He will make a wonderful pet in his forever home. Xx

Words cannot describe how wonderful it was to see Barney alive and well in the back of Ruth's van this morning! Despite our best efforts yesterday, it seemed we were always a step behind in finding him and it was so hard to have to eventually give up the search for the night. Everyone we spoke to was so helpful and desperate for us to find him, it's great to know there are still people in the world who care. Lots and lots of love to Barney. Xxx

My goodness what a lucky boy you are Barney, it must have been a desperate and worrying night for all concerned, well done to everybody for their efforts to find this beauty, and yes, I think you all deserve a glass or two of wine, phew xxxxx

Thank you to everyone for their kind comments and support on here or social media. Most of you know that poor Barney was picked up from Fivelands vets following his castrate by one of our volunteers and on getting him home, he escaped from the car. Six and a half hours later, with the help of many wonderful people, it became too dark to continue searching.

We set off as soon as it was light this morning, back towards where he was last spotted - by the collector road in Castle Bromwich and as we were driving there, I had a call from a local vets to say they had a driver report a dog at the side of the road that had possibly been hit. Moments later we drove past the lifeless looking boy half laying half in the road on the central reservation. My initial thoughts were that he wasn't alive due to how he was laying but as we screeched to a halt and I legged it across the dual carriageway, he miraculously leapt to his feet, crossed the central reservation and ran off up the middle of the collector road in the opposite direction..... I promptly followed, waving every car down telling them to slow down or help catch him. By the time I had caught up with him he was cornered by three vehicles and the relief to have him was indescribable.

He has been checked over by the vets and other than being very shaky as he is so worn out and scuffs to his pads, he is a very lucky boy. I am grateful for the immense support of everyone - these precious lives are very precious!

I do declare it is now wine time - when we have finished at the kennels!!!!!! ;-)
