Happy Birthday to 7 year old RubyRebel, who continues to be a wonderful and handsome hound. How lucky we are to have him. He has struggled a bit this year with a bad back but coped really well; no more zoomies but still plenty of walking and exploring to do.

Hello Friends. It’s my Gotcha anniversary today, 2 years now in furever home. I have learned that homelife is the best life! I do the holiday at sandy beaches, I do the training classes and passed silver citizen award, I do both sunbathe and walk in rain, I do blood donate (for biscuits), I do the greyhound roadshow awareness thing and remember my rescue team, I found a happy daycare house to stay at when pawrents busy, I do the not bothered with busy builders and noisey fireworks and I do vet visit on my paw to beat corn limp.
I can do lockdown with stay at furever home, with food, sleep and local walk.
I have happy face because lots of people and friendly hounds have helped me, so next year I will do more of helping others. See you soon, love RubyRebel

Ruby Rebel 5th birthday meant 4 walks yesterday. Did breakfast walk as normal, then went to Daybreak's to for 2 more walks, then finished with a park walk with furfriend Floss. At the kennels Ruby walked with Ringo and then HoneyG. As an experienced ex-resident, he sensed the weather and missed the rain downpaw, spending fun time in the office instead.

Hello Friends. It’s my first gotcha day after being adopted from daybreaks kennels , who took care of me after I retired from racing. I’m really happy with my new family and and I think they are really happy with me. This is my furever home; I’ve got space, choice of 2 sofas, 4 coats, 2 leads and the garden to walk around in. Occasionally I run for fun in the garden, but I’m too fast so am careful. I have 2 bowls, water and food and get breakfast and tea. Fish is my favourite. Fit and healthy and happy. Being a greyhound is great!
So what have my adopted family got? They got me! A companion, happy to walk anywhere, happy to travel anyway (but not share the driving), happy to just be there, but never in the way. Someone who’s happy to wake up early in the morning. They got someone who brings smiles to people they meet. They got a bigger family.
Today I thought back to kennel life and so had a walk with some of the hounds currently staying there, telling them to look forward to their furever homes and their first gotcha day

Ah Ruby Rebel my matey, you can be proud of giving it a go in such a difficult environment. And you almost made it too. Hope you had a good day out and maybe a treat or two when you got home. Xx

Ruby Rebel went to Crufts! He's been doing Saturday morning training with Julie's group and was ready for his Bronze Good Citizen test, which we wanted to do at Crufts for the experience and to promote greyhounds as great pets. In the test he did not sit still for a minute in the unfamiliar surroundings so didn't pass the test but apart from that was his perfect self all day long.

I still have a soft spot for this handsome boy, so pleased that he's doing so well and is clearly loved. Happy New Year to you all xx

Happy New Year to everyone and the messages on this page reminds me about what 2018 must mean to Ruby. What a journey, from kennels to the Trust to a furever home. Just great! Ruby had a great first Christmas with us and is still wonderful. Once again, thank you for the love and care you gave him at the start of this year, making the step into a home possible.

We adopted Ruby Rebel six months ago now and just wanted to let you all know that Ruby is doing really well, and has been very nearly perfect in and out of our house He has such a personality and we could not be happier. He is enjoying lots of walks, still enjoys his food and very quickly learnt to sleep on the sofa. I still cannot believe he was in kennels for so long. Our good fortune. Thank you all for your kind work and for caring for him during his stay with you. Thank you for taking the time to write up comments on this page, which really help when deciding to adopt. Ruby has his new family and forever home.

I enjoyed my walk with Rebel today. He really is super and has so much potential. This lovely boy came to Brueton Park with me and a friend today. As usual he was pleased to be out and about. He trotted along very contentedly next to my friend and her pram. I've taken Ruby Rebel out several times and know that he loves a brisk walk. However, today he was more than happy to match his pace to us. There were lots of dogs in the park but Ruby Rebel was not fazed at all. At one point he even had five dogs surround him but he didn't even bat an eyelid. Once in Solihull, he came into a coffee shop with us where he stood taking it all in for the next hour. He accepted fuss from several people from tables around us and was impeccably behaved throughout the entire visit. We walked back through the park and he hopped back in the car no problem at all. He is such a confident and easy going dog. I can really envisage that he would just slot into whatever new home is offered to him. I really cannot emphasise enough how perfect I think he is and really urge any potential adopters not to overlook him in his kennel. If you want a good natured and affectionate dog, who just wants to experience all life after racing has to offer, he is for you xx

So agree with the previous comment by Liz_beth and Lady Victoria. Out of his kennel he is one of the nicest dogs I've met. He's actually really nice when I am in his kennel with him as well! Love this boy xx

Just to add to Liz_beth's comments about Ruby Rebel, he met a lovely young lad yesterday, Rebel was taller than he was! He was the perfect genetlman very calm around him and loved all the fuss from the lad. Please don't be put off by his bouncing around in his kennel. Xxx

I took Ruby Rebel out for a walk along the canals and into Knowle today. He was his usual happy self and trotted along beautifully. He greeted two terriers with excellent manners and stood patiently next to a Jack Russell whilst I chatted to its owner. He is everything you could want in a dog: jumps in to the car easily, travels with no problems, loves (and I really mean LOVES) his walks and meets people, children and other breeds politely. It's such a shame that he has been waiting a while for his sofa. He will make someone a superb companion and be great fun to be with. Please don't overlook him if you're thinking about adopting as I'm sure he would repay you with love, affection and happiness many times over xx

This stunningly handsome hound is quite vocal in his kennel but he is just letting everyone know how gorgeous he is and how much love he can give if given the opportunity. He is a total cuddle monster:-)

This beautiful, shiny coated, friendly boy gave me some lovely kisses when I went into his kennel with him today. He really enjoys cuddles and is happy when he is out walking.

Another gorgeous boy. On his walk this afternoon he was very interested in some Magpies which were on the ground ahead (quite a long way ahead actually - he saw them way before I did). He is quite inerested in learning about the world and I think he would be a lovely walking companion

He’s ticking all the boxes!

I took this lovely boy out for a walk again yesterday. We did a two hour circuit around Elmdon and Sheldon Country park and whilst I think I made a dent in his energy levels, I don't think he would have needed any persuasion to keep going! He absolutely loves getting out and about as well as meeting new people. He met lots of children yesterday and behaved impeccably. He also met lots of dogs (very big and very small) but took it all in his stride. He didn't even flinch when two puppies jumped up him. If you enjoy long walks and would like an enthusiastic companion, he is the dog for you! I think he's just perfect!

That’s really kind of you Lewisfuggie. A dog we have previously expressed an interest in (but lost the race for!) has been returned to rescue so we are following that up. If he isn’t the dog for us, then we would still be interested in Ruby Rebel if he is still available. Ps. I believe she’s got a couple of new dogs coming in this week so when they’ve settled, if any look like good prospects perhaps we could combine a visit. I took this lovely boy to Elmdon Park today. He jumped in the car with no problems. He loved every minute of his walk and was a pleasure to be with. We walked at a brisk pace for 75 minutes and he still wanted to keep going. He would really suit anyone wanting a hound to accompany them on longer walks. We met several other dogs on our way round of all shapes and sizes. He wasn't fazed at all by them, all he wanted to do was keep walking!!! I really can't emphasise enough how much I enjoyed the walk too. Ruby Rebel's enthusiasm was infectious!! Fingers crossed he finds his perfect walking companion very soon xx

I've fallen for this beautiful boy but sadly it is not to be as we have a cat and a small dog - both lived happily with our greyhound until he travelled over rainbow bridge a few weeks ago. Wishing Ruby Rebel a very happy future in his forever home. xxx

Went for a walk to Brueton Park today with Rebel. For his first trip into the big wide world, he did very well. He was quite excited when we first arrived because everything was new. In fact at one stage, I thought we were both going swimming while he sussed out what the ducks were. He soon calmed though, and we were able to speak to people who had there dogs with them and he behaved very well, even coming nose to nose with a couple. He also travelled well in the car. Will make a welcome addition to any family.
