A big cuddle for Cleo tonight. It was so sad to hear from Roxy, what an awful decision to have to make. I know how much she loves Cleo. Xxx
However she has found a new home with a lovely lady and her Greyhound lad Rascal. :)) He is absolutely adorable and so sweet. He was very happy to meet her and although a little overwhelmed by his attention I think Cleo liked him too! She certainly didn't hesitate to get into the car with him! Lots of love to Cleo and to Roxy. Xxx

Well done roxy for being so open and honest and doing the best by cleo. As heartbreaking as this has clearly been for you, I hope you have comfort in seeing that cleo has a new home already where I am sure she will continue to have the love shown to her that she's become accustomed to with you xxx

Delighted this sweetheart has found another home so soon. Roxy I know it was so hard to give her up, but you were thinking of her and her welfare - and she now has the opportunity of the life you wished for her.x

Roxy, we said yesterday Cleo's stay would be a short one. I really hope you can take comfort in the fact you did the right thing by her and she now has a home with another grey for company and a very large garden, just what you wished for her!!! Jo xx

I know personally how much you love Cleo & just how hard it was for you to make this decision. I think you have absolutely done the right thing and whoever is lucky enough to rehome her, will see the years of love and hard work you invested into her. She is an absolute delight ????

So sorry you’ve had to return Cleo. It has obviously been a very hard thing for you to have to do and I can see how you’ve done this for Cleo’s happiness. I’m sure she’ll find a new home soon and I hope you can take heart from the life and love you’ve given her for the last 3 years. I’m sure you have many happy memories x

I am so sorry to hear your story, it is abundantly clear that you love Cleo with all of your heart, I cannot even begin to imagine the hurt you are going through, but I personally think you are doing the right thing by returning your beloved girl due to your circumstances, Daybreaks will find her another perfect home but at least you got to spend 3 very happy years together which I'm sure you will both never forget. Keeping you both in my thoughts xxxxxx

Today has been the most heartbreaking day of my life. I returned Cleo to Daybreaks. I adopted Cleo three years ago and she has been the most perfect dog, a dream come true, she’s the best dog in the world. A lot has changed over three years including me getting a new job a month ago which has impacted mine and Cleo’s relationship massively. The amount of time I work has significantly increased, meaning Cleo has been left for 10+ hours a day. This is far from okay. Ruth has gave me the opportunity to explain a bit about the circumstances and to express that I am far from abandoning my dog. I have went through every single possible route to try and keep her, but when it comes down to it the only reason would be due to my selfishness. Yes I love her, more than anything, yes I will miss her. But every single day that I’m at work she’s left in the house alone and she’s missing me. She deserves SO much better than that. This hasn’t been a light decision believe me. Usually when I see that a dog has been returned I scowl and ask how on earth could anyone do that, a dog is for life! But unfortunately life changes drastically sometimes and my life just isn’t good enough for Cleo anymore. She deserves all the love care and attention in the world, nothing less. I have been arguing with myself but this is for HER, not me. The wonderful people at Daybreaks have reassured me she will receive this and I know for certain they’re going to find the perfect new home for her. Never in a million years would I have thought I needed to do this, but to make sure Cleo’s happy again was my main priority and I sadly couldn’t provide that amount of care to her anymore. Cleo is a wonderful girl who has blessed my life over the past 3 years, she has imprinted on me massively. Not all returnees are simply abandoned, this isn’t a case of me not wanting her anymore. It’s me wanting a better life for her which she definitely deserves. I cannot thank Daybreaks enough for being so comforting and understanding today and to whoever adopts Cleo, I will forever be in debt to you.

What a lovely photo, are you sure you 2 have only just been put together...looks like you've known each other for years! And yes I can totally appreciate that 1st dog feeling, i too had been waiting for as long as I can remember for what had got to be 'a big black, male greyhound' (not that I was picky!) And my beautiful jet came along and has been my shadow ever since! Nothing quite like the feeling of your best friend always by your side! Enjoy every minute with your beautiful girl, you've got some wonderful times ahead xxx
