Belated birthday wishes Skip, hope you enjoyed your day xxx
Tuesday 23 Jan 19:49
It was Skip's 10th birthday on the 18th. The weather was too cold to go outside so we stayed in the warm and they all had lots of treats. They had TWO packets of Butternut box food for tea instead of one. Skip is doing well all things considered (cancer aged 4 and a spinal stroke aged 5). He's on plenty of medication to keep him pain free and he has hydrotherapy and physio. He's able to do a couple of 2 mile walks a week with his brother and sister (he prefers sniffinks to walking!!!) He's not playing quite as much as he used to but does have a little run in the garden with Nadie sometimes. I bought home an orthopedic bed for upstairs at night time and he loves the Orvis sofa style dog bed downstairs which we won at Crufts a few years ago.

Happy gotcha day Skip, I hope that you have forgiven me for bathing you on your arrival at Daybreaks, that was even before I got the job as assistant manager!!!! Love from us all. Xx

Lots of love to Skip on his 4th Gotcha Day!! :)) Xxx
Wednesday 15 Jun 21:34
Today is Skip's 4th Gotcha Day. The day started with walks then there were treats including mackerel in tomato sauce sandwiches. New toys arrived - one each - this afternoon so there was a bit of play time.
You are a truly wonderful companion and make me laugh when you throw your toys around the room and do mad zoomies. Love you loads my Skip. x

Tuesday 18 Jan 21:37
Happy 8th birthday to our gorgeous Skippy Doo-Dah. You and you brother Sam and sister Nadie have been spoilt with mackerel in tomato sauce for breakfast and a long munch on your ostrich bones this afternoon. With lamb for tea. You all had walks. Seem to be tired now. Love you so much with your funny ways - your grumpiness if your feet are touched but your amazing flappertypuffing and mad zoomies. Daddy's looking down on you and is celebrating your birthday with Bert at Rainbow Bridge. x

Happy 3rd Gotcha Day to my darling Skip. So sorry I've not been able to pay you much attention but best present ever was bringing Daddy home to you this evening so you can have cuddles on the sofa. We've been through so much together. Love you so much. x
Friday 17 Jan 22:31
It will be lovely to see Skip at the kennels on his Birthday! :) Xxx
Friday 17 Jan 21:38
We're getting excited as it's Skip's 6th birthday tomorrow.
Both Skip and Sam have a pressie each. Before that we have training with cake for the doggies and lemon drizzle for the humans - both made by Connor. Then a trip to the kennels. It's a special birthday (as they all are) because Skip has gone through a nasty cancer and then a spinal stroke in the past 14 months. He still has his issues but he's a totally different dog to the one we brought home in June 2018. Simon's worked so hard with him and he's passed bronze and silver kennel club good citizens tests. Now working towards gold. We love him and Sam so much and having them has helped us through the loss of our gorgeous boy Bert. x

So very happy that Skip is doing so well. As many of you will know, I have a soft spot for him as he was the first dog I bathed (I only went in to hand some paperwork in accepting my job) and was photographed with him, he looked great on Sunday when he came in. Hoping his full recovery is a quick one. Xx

Hello. Skip speaking. I've been very poorly again but am getting better. 2 weeks ago I had a spinal stroke. Mummy and Daddy just thought I'd pulled a muscle and was doing the GSOD. We weren't near home so Daddy took me to a local vet. Everything went woozy from then as I was given something Daddy said was methodone. To stop the pain. Daddy was told it was very serious and I might be paralysed so needed to go to see a neurologist at Willows which is my own vet anyway. I had an MRI and the neurologist told Mummy on the phone it was likely I'd had a spinal stroke. She said chances of a full recovery we're good. I stayed there for 24 hours then was picked up by Mummy, Daddy, Robert and Sam and we went on holiday to see Maisie Grey and ower Monts at their paradise caravan site. We had such fun even though i couldnt walk far and I'm on 4 weeks rest. I've had 2 sessions of physio. Mummy and Daddy have been told recovery is a slow process but I can increase my walking time. I like the physio lady. She gives me gravy bones and laser treatment. Mummy and Daddy and the physio lady have to wear silly glasses! She's given Mummy and Daddy fun exercises for me to do. Sam copies. Walking over poles and walking in a figure of 8. We're on holiday again for the next 2 weeks. Can't wait as Sam and me get to sleep on the bed with Mummy and Daddy in our own house on wheels. Yippee. I'll tell you all about it when we get home. Love Skippy Doo Dahs (as Mummy and Daddy call me!) x

Saturday 15 Jun 21:38
It's Skip's 1st gotcha day anniversary today. It's been quite a year. He got through an aggressive tumour, gained a little greyhound brother and lost his greyhound big brother. Lots of friends have been made and he's got his bronze good citizen award and is working towards his silver. We wouldn't have thought it was possible when we first got him. He was so on edge all the time. Very broken. He learned to give and get affection and is particularly fond of his human Dad. He's been camping and we now have a tow caravan where he's allowed on our bed!
To celebrate his gotcha day we went to training class where he and the other dogs had sardine cake - humans had lemon drizzle cake. We then went to the kennels where he and Sam had a rest while we helped walk the kennel dogs then he and Sam had a blast in the sand run. Photos and videos on Facebook - he's hilarious throwing the toys around to himself. Back home, dinner the SLEEEEEEEEP. They are zorsted!
Another busy day tomorrow at the Sheldon walk then visiting family.
Skip, we love you SOOOOOO much. Here's to many more wonderful years with you and your brother. x

Hello. I'm Skip and it's my 5th burfday today. My hoomans bought me a hoctopus cuddly. I luvs it. I've had yummy treats and tuna. My bruvva Bert is pawly so I've tried to be a good boy and not tread on him while playing with my hoctopus. We's got some new weird stuff in the back garden today. Mummy hooman says is artifishul grass coz we ruin grass when we wee. It felt funny under my feet and I did zoomies then tried to eat it. I thought it was a big cuddly for me to play with. Daddy hooman took me to the woods for a walk this morning. I'm tired now. Goodnight everyone.....zzzzzzzzzzz. Luvs Skip.
Monday 10 Dec 21:49
Well done Skip on your recovery xxxx
Monday 10 Dec 19:56
Skip, such good news, can't wait to see you again. X
Monday 10 Dec 18:56
Yay! Staples taken out today and Skip is discharged. He needs to wear the soft collar when unsupervised for a few days as he still has a small scab, but hopefully that will heal soon and we can bring him and Bert for a pamper session at the kennels. x
Saturday 08 Dec 08:28
Happy to hear all tests are clear and that skip is on the mend xxxxx
Friday 07 Dec 19:31
Sorry the update has been a long time coming. For those of you who aren't on Facebook, the CT scan and further biopsies were all clear thank goodness. We've had difficulties keeping him from scratching his ear and stitches. He's had various bandages including a very festive one with holly and a Christmas tree! He's got a soft buster collar too. He's now had the stitches out but still has 5 staples - he'd split one of the stitches. Hopefully the staples will come out on Monday. Maybe he'll even have his fur back for Christmas! Thanks for all the well wishes. x

Hoping it’s quickly sorted and he gets the all clear so he can simply get on with enjoying his retirement as a much loved pet. Cuddles for Skip and virtual hugs for worried mum & dad xxxx

Wednesday 14 Nov 20:40
Sending positive thoughts to you and Skip. He was the first dog I bathed when he came to Daybreaks, so I feel a connection with him. Hoping everything comes back as good news. Jo. Xxxx
Wednesday 14 Nov 20:13
We got Skip's results today. It's a follicular stem cell carcinoma with the cells dividing quickly. Even the oncologist at Willows has described it as an "odd" carcinoma. The vet and I have decided upon a plan once we have insurance approval. CT scan to check no spread. Then further surgery to take more tissue away. The margins were clean but she wants to leave nothing to chance. She'll check his lymph nodes too. We could go straight for all of that plus removal of his ear but she doesn't think that's necessary at the moment. She's hopeful for a good outcome. He's absolutely fine and oblivious that anything has happened other than having to wear a soft collar and not being allowed to scratch! We got the lump removed very quickly so hopefully there's no spread. He's not even 5 yet and we love him so much. x
Saturday 10 Nov 09:02
Good luck skip, thinking positive thoughts xx
Friday 09 Nov 21:42
Keeping everything crossed all will be good for your lovely Skip. Xxx
Friday 09 Nov 21:36
Good luck xx
Friday 09 Nov 21:19
Skip had the lump removed today. He was a brave boy and is home now and sleeping (or trying to with the soft collar!) He's been eating and drinking. We have to wait until next week for the results. We're going to stay optimistic and take everything one step at a time.
Wednesday 07 Nov 18:32
Keeping my fingers crossed for skip xxxx
Wednesday 07 Nov 17:56
Skip I hope is all ok. Xx
Wednesday 07 Nov 13:46
Please keep Skip in your thoughts. He had a lump behind his ear tested and the lab are concerned and want it removing asap. So he's booked in for Friday at Willows. They say the cells are neoplastic so there's a good chance it's benign.
Saturday 16 Jun 15:54

Sunday 10 Jun 17:56
This lovely lad came with me to Brueton Park today. After only having arrived yesterday, everything was very new and exciting. He walked well and had to be at the very front for most of the walk ( he wasn't afraid to push and weave his way through anytime he fell vehind!). He stuck his head in every bush as well as sniffed every tree. I think he thoroughly enjoyed being out and about. He needed help getting in the car but was fine on the way back. He's a quick learner! Good luck with finding your forever home x
