We took Honey out to the Sheldon country park walk today. She got into and out of the car by herself and travelled really well. Although she did pull on the lead a bit, it wasn't too hard and she was easy to control. We saw a few other breeds of dog too... She wasn't interested in any of the larger dogs and although she did show an interest in smaller breeds she didn't react aggressively and was easy to move on even when a couple of off lead ones did get quite close. She is a real beauty and with a bit of patience and training will make a greyt pet.

We are appealing for owners with other breed dogs to help us with Honey and the other current residents at Daybreaks. As you know many (not all) of these dogs are unsocialised with other breeds and this is why we use muzzles. With our help and training we can overcome this but we need your help! With Sara visiting, we used to have the help of Louis the Border Collie but sadly this will not be so often now.

My second greyhound Holly was terrible with other breeds - whether they were larger or smaller than her as she just didn't understand what she was dealing with. It took several months but she ended up not needing her muzzle as she became great with all breeds, even cats, became Pets As Therapy registered and even was used for helping a child overcome his fear of dogs.

Honey was returned from her previous home because she ended up biting another dog because she was unmuzzled whilst out with a dog walker. Therefore we want to ensure we can do everything we can for her to help continue to socialise her.

Therefore if you are an owner of another breed especially if they are used to Greyhounds (as we don't want to scare them), please could you give the kennels a call on 0121 782 7702 between 9am and 5pm so we can arrange for you to visit and help us out.

Walked the adorable Honey this afternoon, she is so good on the lead, not bothered by the traffic. She walked nicely with Brian. Lovy little girly. Xxxxx

I walked this lovely girl this afternoon. Yes she is interested in her surroundings , enjoying a good look round, but I kept her on a short lead and talked to her and she was fine walking with Debs. Xxx

Oh sweetheart, I am so sorry. And you had settled in so nicely. You are a very pretty girly so keeping all our toes crossed you will not have to wait too long and perhaps any issues with your strength on lead can be worked on whilst back in residence. Xx

Poor Honey has been returned as her owner found her too strong on the lead and she is quite keen around other breeds.
On the plus side we are told she is very affectionate, clean in the house, can be left for 4+ hours and travels well in the car. If you think you can offer this beautiful girl a home, please give us a call.

So happy for Honey! She may have had to wait a while for a home of her own but it was certainly worth waiting for! :)) Xxx

Today I had a nice phone conversation with Honey's mom. She has settled well into her new home,she has lots of new toys to play with and a bed in every room. She is a fast learner and has learnt her boundaries quickly. She went out for a walk with a family friend and has a new friend to play with a lurcher. They were both let off lead in a safe environment for a run and little Honey came back on first call what a good girl. Today she tried to join in the local football match on the village green,attracted by the the noise and the ball. She has met other family members and friends and they all love her. Makes being a Daybreaks volunteer so enjoyable,so pleased for Honey and her family xx

As we were walking the dogs today I said to Samantha that I couldnt understand why the delightful, friendly and gorgeous Honey is still at the kennels and then when we got back there was a lovely couple showing interest in her. I really hope it all works out for them all. She so deserves a chance of a happy retirement. Big cuddles Honey. xx

Very puzzled why this little sweetie is still at Daybreaks.

When taking a couple of new photos of Honey on tuesday it really bewildered me why this petite girl is STILL waiting for her forever home?? She had so much fun playing with the squeaky toy that she spun round and round in circles continually, we were amazed she didn't get dizzy!! She's so cute, and full of fun! She's young at 3 years old and has the most beautiful glossy black coat and soulful eyes. She's definitely on the smaller side, probably the smallest we have in at the minute, surely someone has room for Honey!??!xxx

I can't believe Honey is still waiting for her forever home! She has been with us since July. She is such an adorable little girl. There must be a cushion on someone's sofa with her name on it! Sending her my cuddle tonight. Xxx

Oh Honey!!! She walked so nicely today and is a really super little girl. She really likes ear rubs, she is responsive when talked to. I think she'd be happy to share a sofa with the right family. xxxx

Our love affair with Honey started on Sunday when we took her to the dog show. Her behaviour was impeccable and made our 2 other greyhound look like crazy hounds! She met lots of other breeds and although she was interested, she didn't pull or bark or show any aggression. Honey wasn't fazed by lots of people and is a confident hound.
We then took her home to foster her considering she became unreserved the same day and wanted her to experience home life. She settled in like a duck to water and was amused by mirrors and the TV. She is a very playful hound and LOVES toys. She will keep herself busy with a toy for ages, it is extremely cute.
She interacted well with our 2 current greyhounds (2 6 year old females) and we would see no reason why she couldn't live with brothers and sisters!!
We would have continued to foster her, until her forever home came up however, she was overly interested in our 2 bearded dragons. And became fixated on their vivarium.
She travels really well in a car (even with her headout the window) and also walks/runs up stairs very well.
She lingered by the door when needed a wee and went to the toilet when requested.
She is an amazing little hound and would make be perfect girl for anyone.

Great news for Honey! So happy for her. Hope it's Roarys turn next. Xxx

I had some fabulous cuddles with this adorable little girl today. I sat on her bed and she stood leaning on me with her head on my shoulder and I had my head on her shoulder. She really is a beautiful, gentle, lovable dog. Whoever adopts her will get themselves one amazing hound. xxxx

Honey is a super little girl. She is calm and quiet. She walks so nicely on her lead and is pleasure to stroke and groom. The Coventry Road traffic noise doesn't seem to bother her, in fact nothing seems to bother her. She donated blood on Tuesday and was a very good girl. Brilliant little lady. xxxxx

Honey has got a super friendly nature. She was a pleasure to walk today and she is calm in her kennel. She really enjoys her strokes and cuddles.

A big cuddle for Honey tonight. She went off to the vets with Ruth this morning for her neutering operation. She is in a kennel on her own tonight to recuperate. Sadly her kennel mate Teddy was missing her when we left and looked very sad. Didn't have the heart to tell him it's his turn to visit the vet tomorrow!! :(

Welcome to Daybreaks lovely little Honey. Health check and bathed this lovely girl today. She is understandably interested in her new surroundings (especially the chickens!). Stood beautifully while being bathed and when we were back in her kennel she wanted to play. Very friendly girl. xxxxx
