Oh well done Mags. She was such a gentle little girl at the kennels. I love reading updates on ex residents. Thank you. Cuddles for her xxx

Well what a clever girl - Mags with her friend- lurcher Badger, passed her Bronze Good Citizen Scheme Test last night at training :) . She's spent the past few weeks going for nice country walks at National Trust places so she can see other dogs but they are on the lead, she's been dog training so walked around a hall with other Greys and lurchers having lots of nice treats and generally taking in her new world quietly and at her pace. She's still not very brave out on the pavement so we only walk to and from the car still so her confidence grows and she still only goes into the garden to toilet but is happy to be walking out in the country :) She loves her food and to chew so she has lots of foodie toys like Kongs of all shapes and she has antlers, Roots (dog wood) and cows hooves .... oh and the TV remote when I don't hide it :( . Off to Pets at Home to get her a new toy for being such a clever girl :) xx

Motorway service stations are quite interesting (I've now realised LOL) as well as good coffee and cake there is the excitement of a drugs bust (Warwick) ... better than the telly :) . I'm heading to the Fleur De Lis in Lowsonford tomorrow early as it's apparently Diwali so more fireworks - good thing the Fleur is dog-friendly so hopefully Mags will enjoy the pub with some of her friends who are coming too - almost as good as your own caravan Pam :)

Tiggers mom,What a lovely mom you are to little Mags spending 2 evenings on the motor way services to keep her safe from firework stress, but I expect like all Grey owners we would do anything for our hounds that's what love is about.
I remember when I was in my twenties a lovely old widower who I used to walk my dogs and his with across the park said to me "Once you take an animal into your care they are totally dependent on you for the rest of their lives to be there for them and protect them from that moment on, until hopefully you can you hold them in your arms and let them pass and run free again." He felt that too many people didn't take this on board. I always remembered this and have seen by the comments on Daybreaks that the Greyhound "family" are wonderful examples of living by that advice like myself. There is nothing more heart melting than a Grey muzzled old boy or girl hound still tottering round enjoying life. OOHHHHH I am getting watery eyed at the thought. Think I will be at the services next year with Nina. What a great idea. xxx

Little Mags is being a star, Mags, Fee and I spent Saturday and Sunday nights at local quiet motorway service stations as the fireworks by me are like a war zone with big displays :( , we got home at midnight when all had stopped . Mags has coped well with fireworks last night and last week, she's had a herbal calmer - Phytopet Calm, for about 4 weeks in preparation for Bonfire Night and to help her general anxieties. I use Tellington TTouch training which calms and relaxes dogs so Mags had lots of gentle TTouches and she wore a TTouch wrap which is like a bandage and gives them a reassuring hug - Thundershirts are taken from TTouch wraps :) . She lay in her downstairs bed all evening nice and relaxed, even came out for a last wee before bed tho I waited till 11.30 when it was almost quiet and she ignored a couple of bangs. I'm really proud (and grateful) of how she coped :) Good luck with all your Greys, hopefully Divali won't be as noisy as Bonfire Night has been :( xxx

Well Mags has had quite an introduction to her new life, two weeks ago she, Fee and I went to a farm in Bath as I do Tellington TTouch and was assisting on a training course. Mags sees our car as her safe place so was happy to stay in it and watch, she had TTouch on two days and was fine to stand for the person TTouching her as long as she was by the car - which was fine :). To my amazement she then walked up the stairs to our B&B room that night and for the rest of our stay - I'd had to carry her up on the first night. Her confidence continued at the dog show and she even came into the ring, trotted around and let the judge go over her - really chuffed with her progress .. she must feel so much better than being scared of everything :( She's started to play with Fee much to his amazement LOL - she's very bouncy :)

All is going really well (touch wood) , both Mags and my lurcher Fee are eating well and briefly checking on each other from a distance but no reactions ... Mags is a poppet but Fee is very frightened of other dogs due to his past life as a travellers dog :( so I'm being very careful that Fee doesn't panic about having another dog so close - he was always absolutely fine with my last Grey but she was already in residence. I'm using crates carefully so both are safe :) So far so good :) Huge thanks to Ruth, Kate, Jo, Deniece and everyone at Daybreaks who has helped in their safe introductions and to my great friend Marie Miller for her help and advice xx
