Little Ratty has been with us since just before Christmas and we have fallen in love with her. If our circumstances were different then we would definitely be her forever family. She is such a little sweetheart. She is a little nervous but has so much love to give. Ratty just loves to be loved and has progressed from two wobbly, uncertain paws on the sofa to curling up next to you for a cuddle. Moe has introduced her to the delights of piles of comfy, warm blankets and she loves to snuggle. She learns very quickly and stopped putting her paws on the work surfaces within a few hours. She waits patiently for her food and is very well behaved in the house. Ratty loves going on walks with Moe and I think she really benefits from the company of another doggy to give her confidence. She does sometimes put her paws down and refuse to move while on a walk. Her new family will need to understand that she is not being awkward, she is just overwhelmed by this big, wide world which is very understandable. We have found that crouching down to cuddle and reassure her works and she will walk on. Ratty will blossom with someone who has patience and love to give and she will return your love a thousand fold. She deserves an extra special family because she is extra special herself. You will be very lucky to have her.
Now for a confession:) I tried very hard to call her Rat or Ratty but I couldn’t! Plus she didn’t recognise either name anyway. My friend and I sat and went through the alphabet looking for something that sounded similar so that she could go back to being called Ratty if necessary (please, no) and we came up with Hatty. It does suit her very well and she recognises it and responds. Just saying:)

Hello everyone, it’s me again, little Ratty, I have been really busy, eating, doing zoomies and lying upside down with my paws in the air. Moe has been teaching me lots of good things like it’s okay to have my teefies cleaned and my paws wiped after a walk. He says I am welcome to lie on the sofa as long as it’s not the one he’s on :) mum says we are very good at meal times because we don’t take each other’s food and we wait so nicely for our turn. I hardly ever put my paws on the worktop now, yay lots of progress! Mum says I am coming on leaps and bounds and I learn very quickly. And I get special treats when I do a wee or a poo in the garden because I race up the garden to tell mum what I have done and she is very pleased with me which makes me even more happy than I am already. Got to go now, there’s a comfy sofa to lie on, love from Ratty xx

Hello everyone, it’s little Ratty here, mum and Moe say I am doing very well. I had my first Christmas dinner today when auntie Debbie came over and I think roast lamb is very yummy so does Moe :) but we were both really good and waited until dinner was over. I slept all night and I have just done a wee in the garden so I have had a special treat, love from Ratty xx

I had the pleasure today to take little Rat to her Christmas foster home. She has a lovely foster mom and foster brother the absolutely gorgeous Moe. When I left they were getting on famously. Little Rat was really enjoying exploring. She was a little star and toileted in the garden and followed big Moe around. She was very interested in the work tops, but when given a sharp no she seemed to listen. She is such a clever and affectionate girl. I think that this home experience will stand her in good stead to get her into a forever home as it did with Kitty last year. Thanks to her foster mom for giving her this opportunity. Jo x

Lovely Ratty, here is a message from Kitty: you are a very lucky girl, you are going to have a fab time, Carol is a wonderful mum and Moe a great companion who will let you sit on the sofa. I spent last Christmas with Carol and her family and I had a great time. Please give a big sniff to Moe from me. Love, Kitty xx”

This little girls trainer says she has been known affectionately as Rat since arriving at their kennels nearly three years ago. It is a term of endearment and she was very much loved throughout her racing career. They hope it won't be long before she finds her forever home. Xxx
