Our training club run by Julie Sadler has donated £30 from refreshments sales towards the cost of saying goodbye to Peggy x

Peggy's ashes have come back to the kennels this morning. We are going to scatter her on Saturday at 1.30pm so if you would like to join us in celebrating her short but beautiful life, you are welcome to.

I have started a memory collection for her to pay for her cremation and if you would like to donate, please pop in to Daybreaks or you can make your donation via paypal at daybreaks2006@gmail.com. This goes directly into the Daybreaks Trust separate charity and any donations in excess of her cremation will go towards our new scales at the kennels.

I lit a candle for her on Monday evening and this morning it was just about still flickering.... she was waiting to get 'home' to Daybreaks. Bless her x

Poor jill but that's wonderful news that she's thinking of adopting another and this means Peggy will live on in whoever jill chooses (or who chooses jill!) So peggys time at daybreaks won't have been in vain Xxx

I visited Peggy prospective owner Jill this morning to talk about what happened etc... It was very emotional, but she is going to the kennels this weekend to see if she can find another girlie just as beautiful xxx

So very sad that Peggy didn’t get her chance to enjoy a happy retirement. I feel sad for the family who had chosen her as all their happiness and excitement in planning for her joining their family has been suddenly and abruptly brought to an end.
I’ve been following the arrivals and homings for many years and I recall a very small number of similar sad events but it doesn’t make it any easier to read when all our hopes and dreams for another beautiful greyhound are shattered in this way. Peggy definitely won’t be forgotten and of course the love goes on. Sleep tight beautiful girl, you were so close xxxx

I am still devastated about Peggy - the only comfort is that I am so glad I took her home for a few nights last week so she had sofa cuddles.

My heart goes out to her new family but mostly to Kate who had taken her to the vets yesterday morning and then took the call with the devastating news. We took comfort in taking her on her final journey to Heart of England together and we said our goodbyes.....

Her ashes will be scattered on Wispa's grave at Daybreaks and a tag for her will hang on our tree of memory also at Daybreaks..... she will never be forgotten.

This sad news reduced me to tears - thinking of the exciting times preparing for our girls to join the family. So very sad. Xxx

Wiping away tears for yet another beautiful and graceful individual taken far too soon. Absolutely devastating. At least she got to enjoy some real love and care at Daybreaks although naturally not the same as being in a loving home. Life is as we all know very cruel and unfair at times. General anastethetic is usually straight forward but for any procedure is not without risk. There was obviously no way of knowing that a rare reaction would occur. At least she would have been unaware if she was unconscious. Its gut wrenching and very sad for the proposed adoptive family. May you rest in peace with Bez and the other girls and boys in the lovely peaceful pretty spot at Daybreaks. Just feel so incredibly sad. Run free sweetheart. Xx

Oh Peggy, I never met you but In tears reading and writing this. What a cruel place this world can be sometimes. God bless little princess, your destiny was obviously to be an angel so now run free. I was devastated to get kates call this lunchtime. I done the home check only last week. I am going out to see the family who were hoping to take her home tomorrow morning. Such a very sad loss for all... Xx

I am absolutely heartbroken to have to say beautiful Peggy passed away today. She had gone to the vets for her neutering operation which went well with no problems. However a short while later she stopped breathing and despite every effort by the vet and his team they were unable to resuscitate her.
Ruth and I took her to her final resting place; the Heart of England Pet Crematorium. Her ashes will be scattered in our garden at Daybreaks. Sending lots of love to the family who had reserved her. So very sad she didn't have a chance to go home with you. God Bless you Peggy. Xxx
