Drew had a lovely time at the park this morning. He went with his kennel mate Zoey. He really does love her company, sure he would like a friend to live with in his forever home. Xxx

Drew you have been with us for far too long!! Don't get me wrong, I love to see you and you are such a good boy, you are taking very good care of your pretty kennel mate Zoe, but you really do need a sofa to call your own now. Poor Drew. Still in kennels after all this time. I can't understand why as you're gorgeous and a favourite with so many volunteers who "fight" to walk you. I'm sure the right family will find you very soon. x

Once again Drew was a joy to walk on a slack lead, adjusting his pace when needed. Hes very handsome with a lovely shiny coat and hes very affectionate. This lovely gentle boy deserves his forever sofa. Xxxxx

Sending love and cuddles to Drew this morning. He returned to Daybreaks yesterday after his Christmas break with us. It was sad to see him return but hope his experience of home life will help soon give him a chance of his forever home.
I can only really reiterate what I have said in my previous posts.
For a little bit older lad who has spent all of his 6 years in kennels he was settling into home life well.
He was clean in the house after the first day, slept during the night after a couple of days and was a very loving hound who loved his cuddles.
He got on well with the resident greyhounds especially (which I must admit surprised me) our 4 year old lad, who he liked to play with.
To sum up with a little bit of time to settle he will make a loving boy to add to your family. He would probably be better with another greyhound for company and to learn the house rules from, but not small furry animals.
He is very interested in all the new things around him, and being a strong dog will need a firm hand on his walks initially but will settle as new things become normal.
If there is window he can stand beside to observe the outside world, he will amuse himself for hours.
Good luck in finding your forever home Drew. would have loved to let you stay but I think you may be a little too big and lively for my two old girls.

Drew has been with us since Monday evening and he seems to be settling quite well. He is absolutely fascinated by all the new things he is coming into contact with, but being 6 there is a lot of the outside world to catch up with.
He likes company, so I think that coming into a home with other greyhounds has helped him settle, although he isn't trying to be top dog. (That is definitely Cello's job.)
He hasn't cocked his leg inside the house since Tuesday, probably my rather loud 'no' and the fact we were expecting it so kept a good eye on him.
He really does seem to be learning from our greyhounds so I think that perhaps he might be happier in his forever home with another hound for company rather than on his own.
He can be quite lively on his walks, especially with small furries, but mostly it is because everything is new and he wants to see it all.
It has taken us a couple of nights to settle him, he needed to know that as the last arrival his is the bed on the landing just outside our bedroom door, but once settled in his bed he sleeps the night.
He loves his food, but so far there has been no aggression towards the others, he does however need to learn a few manners around food when you are eating.
He is a loving boy who loves cuddles, like I mentioned before after taking him to the park, he needs to see the big wide world as normal instead of all new.
He is a large lad, but with a little bit of time to settle and to improve his food manners a little he will make a lovely addition to his forever family.

Sadly Drews foster family have had to return him to the kennels. He was having a lot of trouble settling in their home and as they are due to visit Florence and her family for Christmas it wasn't fair on him or Klaire's cats to take him with them.

They are desperately upset at having to make this decision but maybe it's just not the right time after losing their beloved Barney very recently. I'm sure they will have a new addition to their family sometime in the new year. Xxx Sending them all lots of love. Xxx

Drew has been fostered again, he has other Greyhounds for company so we are hoping he will settle in a home and enjoy his Christmas holiday, even if for a few days. We are so grateful to Richard and Shirley for stepping in at such short notice. Bless you. Xxx

Day 1: What a weird day! I started off at the kennels and ended up at a building which my hoomans said was a house! It’s a great place to pee as I’ve already done it up the Christmas tree, door, sofa and ‘foster’ daddy’s leg! I have found toys which I love! So much fun. I went on a walk and saw 2 pugs, I got a bit excited with a little bark and jump but nothing aggressive.

The hoomans said that I’ll be staying with another grey called Florence. I do move around a lot and love swapping beds! I also have a very waggy tail and love fuss! I have eaten dinner which didn’t last 5 seconds and I am now relaxing on the hard floor when I have 2 beds!! Drew Xx

Add on: last night it was very hard to get Drew to settle. Took hours and wined through the night. We had him upstairs by us and he settled down a bit after that but was still restless and wanted attention. We will work on that but he just wants company. He is also super interested in the hamster though.....

Whats a boy to do drew? We just love peeing, i must have a least 50 cocks of the leg when i go for a walk, what should be a 20 min trip is at least 30! I haven't weed up our tree yet this year, but our kitten goose is doing a fabulous job of taking bits off it and a bauble was broken yesterday, now i made sure he got the blame, but think it may actually have been my tail! There are so many new smells, so yes you need to pee, understood, but pee on the trees outside, not the one inside, my grey Reggie peed on our tree and blew the lights, I was not amused. I'm sure you have already got your servants wrapped around your paws, and you and cousin Florence are going to have a super Christmas together. Remember, always pee responsibly lol xxxxxx

Santa day was when I first saw him and Barney and Drew had wagging tails. We kept crossing paths since and had been in my thoughts since Santa day.

I think this is wonderful and things work out as they should. I think drew becoming unreserved was definetly a sign from barney as he would hate such good parents to go to waste if you didn't help another hound! I really fell for drew on the santa day, he's 100% my type! Good luck xxx

It was a difficult decision to foster after what has happened. Once again we want to thank everyone for the messages over the past few days. We know that Barney would love us to help another grey and we are going to see how the ‘foster’ goes with Drew. We have had our eye on this boy for a while and last week he had a connection with Barney while visiting Santa. The fact that he became unreserved when walking into the kennels gave us a sign. We really discussed the decision and felt we had to give it a go. We can promise he will be well looked after during Christmas! We are really hoping everything goes well and we know Barney is cheering us on! Xx

Drew came along with us today to the Sheldon Walk. He was excited to get out and jumped straight in the car. There were no problems at all between Drew and Murphy along the way, even with Drew moving around looking out of all the windows.
He really enjoyed his walk (so much so that when we got back to the kennel he jumped back into the car as if he wanted to go again)and is interested in all the new things that he got to see. He was quite excitable about all the other dogs he saw, especially those that came quite close but he isn't aggressive just excited. He just needs to get out more so these things are normal instead of all new and exciting.
All in all we had quite a nice walk this morning, he is a large lad but does not pull on his lead like a large lad.
As said in the previous comment please do not be put off by his size, he really is another gentle giant.

If you are thinking of adopting, please do not be put off by Drew's size. He is handsome, gentle, friendly and confident and he is going to make a very lucky prospective family the most wonderful pet. Gorgeous boy! Xxxx

Drew had a great trip out this afternoon to the Mell Square roadshow. He did really well, coping with all the people, the attention and the occasional passing dog and pigeon. So many people complemented him on his looks, his condition and his size! He was especially good with children. He’s earnt his tea today! Hopefully his efforts will be rewarded soon.

I took Drew for a walk yesterday and he is a sweet dog who walked well on his lead. He was very excited getting ready for a walk. Nice leaner when hugged. He's a big friendly giant!

Fantastic Drew is half brother to my daughters dog Charlie and seems to have inherited the same brilliant nature. He really is delightful!!! Xxxxxx

Drew joined me today on the brueton park walk. He jumped straight into the car, however hes a little long to fit in my boot! So he sat on the back seat, he took a while to settle down - hes got such long legs!!
Once at the park he was very excited to see all the off lead dogs, however he managed to walk past some larger calmer dogs without a bother. Even when he was excited by the other dogs he was easy to control and walked like a dream most of the walk.

This beautifully big boy is super. I really love walking him because he is tall enough to stroke (which he enjoys) while we're walking. He also liked lots of kisses on his head, although to be honest I didn't give him much choice!! Xxxxxxx

Drew has today paid his first visit to Brueton Park.
He jumped into the car on his own and traveled quietly to the park.
He did find meeting other breeds a new experience and although not aggressive in anyway he did become very excited and bouncy. He walked sensibly apart from those occasions with myself and my 9 year old grandson holding a sliplead. His behaviour with children was excellent. He is a friendly dog towards humans but needs sometime to adjust to the big outside world.

Well Drew is a quick learner. He walked so well yesterday with his head next to my knee, no pulling at all until he saw a squirrel. He lunged but 2 quick 'leave it' and praise when he did leave it and on he walked. Handsome, clever and loving. Fabulous boy xxxxx

Drew was cat tested today, he liked the cats, but not in a good way. Sorry Sharon, NOT cat friendly!
