''Good afternoon everyone, it is with a VERY heavy heart I have to announce that Paddy has now left us to chase rabbits on the other side of the rainbow. He was the most fantastic hound, we collected him in the March before lockdown (2020) and in spite of his broken (healed) hock, he could always keep up with the rest of them.
Sadly, in Sept 2023 we discovered Osteosarcoma in his leg, we had his leg surgically removed and although he was in hospital for 5 days, he pulled through and amazed us all at his bravery. He was such a loyal and loving friend of our family, we simply couldn't give up on him.
However, in the past 14 days he went downhill rapidly and an X-ray revealed the cancer had spread significantly. He bravely battled on for a few weeks but had no quality of life in the last few days. Our Vet assured us that other vital organs were shutting down. He pass away peacefully yesterday morning at home, with all the family around him, he will forever remain in our hearts, our love and our joyous memories of his crazy character. Thank you to DayBreaks for giving us Paddy and the most wonderful 4 years we have had with him. We are so sad at the silence at home but know that he will be back soon to say hello and chase the Cats from the garden. Much love everyone xxxx''

Well today we visited all the lovely hounds at Daybreaks and what a joy it was to finally meet Paddy. I think it’s safe to say that he was loved by the family, especially the boys! We will be back again next week for more cuddles and kisses xoxox

Hews, I don't think you could go far wrong with the gorgeous Paddy. He is a gentle loving boy and I am sure he would bring much love to your home. So sorry you lost your Cookie and have had a traumatic homing experience. I can only reiterate comments made by LM, I too don't understand why is still with us in the kennels. He is a real gentleman. Hews - so sorry about Cookie. It's heartbreaking, but lovely that you want to open your home to another. Myself and some other volunteers spent quite a bit of time with Paddy today as he couldn't go out on walks/go in the sand run as he's post op. We were saying that we can't understand why he's still here. He is gorgeous. Everything is crossed that he's right for your family.

Having lost our darling little Cookie (aka Sofia) back in September, we have since had an unfortunate and very traumatic homing experience from HG which broke our hearts all over again. However, we have all fallen for Paddy and hope we can come visit him on Sunday 23rd and sincerely hope he is calm, affectionate and comfortable with our twin boys (11yo). Cannot wait to meet him and keeping fingers crossed he’s still there and right for us xoxo

Cuddle for the Padster please someone give this lovely boy a home if both my two didn’t currently have ongoing health issues I would be very very tempted.

Paddy's leg is doing great. He is going on one walk a day and being taken for a gentle stroll in the sand run, doing a couple of circuits. I'm sure he will soon be able to join everyone for the normal two walks. He is a very special boy looking for a special home. Xxx

Paddy mugged me today!!!! I went into his kennel to put his lead on and my shoulder bag slipped forward, so Paddy took the opportunity to help himself to the doggy cup cake, my fault I should have zipped my bag, he practically ate it in one go, paper case included. I reported him to Kate and apologised for any adverse outcome! He is a seriously lovely boy despite his criminal tendencies. Big cuddle for him tonight xxxx

At the moment both my two have on going health issues so it may not be fair to them. I don’t think I’m brave enough to offer foster as I am pretty sure I would be joining a certain club if I did!

Caro as you know I can beat Jeff's 3! 5 is not a problem, 3 black, one white and fawn and 1 brindle ninja who at 11 is the girl in charge. Any combination makes for a warm bed and back massages at ram when they decide to chase something in their sleep (usually only 3 on the bed though, brindle ninja Sarah included)! S Should you want to consider Paddy...he is gorgeous...he is a little bit big...he needs minimal exercise! Come pay him a visit, you will be smitten! X Jo

Caro, 3 if I have this right, means you have 2 already and not sure about Paddy 3 are a bit more work than I expected, ( simply because Celia is a wild animal)but do it have three greyhounds, having three greyhounds in the new black and saves loads on your heating bills with the heat they give off on your bed and then there's the money you will save on neck massages

I had the pleasure of taking Paddy for a very gentle, short stroll this morning. His poorly hock is giving him some gip in this cold, damp weather, so he is on restricted exercise at the moment. Am thinking he needs some doggy leg warmers to keep the joint cosy & warm! Will make this my next project. xx

Sending my cuddle to Paddy tonight. He retired due to a broken hock. The vet told his trainer he will always walk with a slight limp but it won't affect him enjoying his retirement and being a fabulous addition to someone's family. He is a big, very huggable, friendly lad. Who would enjoy gentle strolls and lots of love. Xxx
