Jag today we did a walking adventure to Sutton Park. Again, I believe this was your first outing (as far as we are aware) into the big world. I am not sure you enjoy going into a car or being in the car. When I placed you in the car you wanted to get out. Once we got going you settled down and you are a good traveller, did not see or hear you. Return journey the same, did not want to get in but once there you settled down quickly.

During the walk you were brilliant, at first you seemed very excited but during the walk you were as calm as can be. No pulling at all, it is almost as if we have been walking together for years. You met a small toy dog, who was vocal but you ignored it. You also met a Border Collie and a Pug not really fused by them you allowed them to be given a good sniff and we moved on.

We came across a number of cyclists but these did not give you any concerns. We also came across two herds of cows and you did not blink. He was being curious about the woods and the sights, sounds and smells. I tried different treats to see if these are his go to stimuli for training. He was really not fussed about the treats, took them and then dropped them again. What I noticed towards the end of our walk, whilst he was tired, he saw a dog playing and this got his attention. If treats do not work for training it might be toys that are his high value treats to use during training.

A final observation, around 10 minutes before the end of our 45 minute walk he seemed to have had enough and slowed down. It may be that his stamina needs building up or he simply enjoys shorter walks more.

Well Jag it was a pleasure taking you for a walk, I don’t think I have ever had such an easy walk. You appear to be a very relaxed dog who takes everything in his stride, well done. I am sure you will be a great addition to some-ones home.
