Raven has gone home with Denise again this evening. I understand she had a good night last night and coped with going up and down the stairs. :) Xxx

Hi Raven, we saw you today and you greeted us with joy in your eyes as you do everyone. I was surprised you are still there. I will wisper this in your ear, but my big boss (my wife) told me, if we could you would no longer needing to look for a home. That is a very BIG compliment. You are such a loving girl I really hope you will find the right home soon.

Raven really enjoyed her day today - she spent it lazing in the kitchen run with pal Molly, Chris's beautiful girlie. Raven does seem to thrive in the company of another dog. She is getting very playful, and was trying to encourage Molly to have a play with her by giving little barks and play bowing - so sweet to see.

Molly decided that despite the fact that there were 3 beds in the run, she would cuddle up to Raven on the same bed, so she duly climbed up and lay down in the tiny corner space available - only to gracefully slide off and end up on the floor!! The look on Raven's face was priceless - and Molly decided to hide her embarrassment by staying on the floor in the same position, one leg up in the air, as if to say "I meant to do that!!".

Our lovely Raven needs a special forever home to come along very soon as she really doesn't like being in a kennel environment. Her leg is doing well, and with all she has learned whilst being at Erik's, she is ready now. Despite all the cuddles we've had today, she gets my cuddle tonight too! xxxxx

Fabulous to hear how well Raven is doing during her stay with Erik and his family. It really shows that Raven will be a super little girl in the right environment. It must be so hard to bring her back to the kennels...maybe she will have the offer of a home straight away! Xxx

I will be brief today, as I did not see much of Raven today as I was on a course. In the morning she was happy and cheerful. She did have a little lie-in but when Charlotte came down Raven was quick to follow. We had our walk, I did not use the brace this morning she was walking tall, with a real spring in her step. She was also greeting people, which was quite funny to watch.

During lunch time I was briefly home. Both Charlotte and Raven came running down the stairs next to one another. Not had such an energic greeting before. Raven was also doing the play bow. It just makes you smile coming home to that. I understood from my wife that Charlotte and Raven had a disagreement during the morning. The matriarch telling the young gun off. No harm done.

The evening I again received a energic welcome. It really makes coming home such a joy. My wife admitted to me that she be a bit said to say goodbye to Raven, unfortunately that is the consequence of fostering. I am just pleased that we have had the privilege to have met and of having her around for a couple of days. One family will be very lucky.

Raven my poppet what a lovely report. It sounds like you are having a lovely time with Charlotte, even getting to share her sofa and have a little play with her. With her showing you the ropes, and Erik helping you, you are learning lots already, and it's good to hear your leg is holding up. Have a big cuddle lovely girl. Xx

We took Raven in this Tuesday to do a bit of work with her, regarding the stairs as she was having difficulty with them. To support her wrist I placed a front leg brace on the offending leg, this made a real difference to her walking the stairs. When first placed on her leg I did a couple of practice climbs near where we live, there are 4 steps to master. She went up fine but was first hesitant to go down, but with a little encouragement she did. We practised about 6 times, it must have looked strange to others. Thanks to the brace she quickly gained confidence. To my surprise she was running up and down the stairs following my wife around in the evening. They really connected, so nice to see.

She was settling in very quickly, was enjoying being outside in the grass. Charlotte and Raven also get on really well. Charlotte even allowed Raven to share her Sofa, a real privilege. Raven was quick to discover the kitchen a number of corrections and she understood it is of limits. During dinner she off course showed her nose on the table, with a number of corrections she quickly understood table is of limits and just laydown on her bedding. Great first day.

This Morning Raven was excited to be awake. She went to our 4 year old room when my wife needed to wake her up. Raven gave a helping hand by liking my daughters face. My wife found it funnier then my daughter. When outside she did the play bow to our Greyhound, nice to see.

We had a walk in the morning Raven was walking well. Again I did put a leg brace on her front leg just for support. It seems to help her no limps or holding up of her leg. Later in the morning we did some more stair practice. Because she has been running up and down I took her to a bridge that crosses a rail way. A bit more challenging but made sure Raven was calm and stopped on the half way platform and up again. Going down did the same all fine again. We practised these stairs a couple of times and all was fine. I took the brace of and practised on the small stairs at the top of our road and again did really well.

It is a pleasure to have Raven around. She is full of energy wants to play, unfortunately with her leg I just don’t want to over load the wrist. She greets you with joy in her face. She is also good at relaxing she was sun bathing in the grass today or just relaxing

It was very sad for the family today who had to bring Willow/Raven back. You could see they were heartbroken but it was just too much for her to manage the stairs in their particular house. She may also benefit from a doggy companion. It was hot and humid today and she was a bit hot when she came back so I sat on the cool floor of her kennel where she lay down. I gave her a bit of a massage and an ear rub and hummed the classic FM music to her. She seemed to like this (although Bessie vocally complained haha!) I'm sure the perfect home is there for her and that it won't be long. She's such a darling and is related to my Sam and Nadie (via Crash). x

So very sad for Raven. :( So sorry for her family it didn't work out. She is a special little girl who has found being at Daybreaks and away from her previous kennels quite unsettling. She is sweet and lovely and I am sure will find her perfect home...maybe there is someone who has another dog who would be happy to help her with her anxieties and fears and show her how this reitement thing works! Sending her Lots of love. Xxx

Very sadly Willow (Raven) has been returned, the family are distraught at making this decision, but think it is in her best interests. She was not able to cope with the stairs, she was ok going up but not coming down and the worry was she would injure herself. She had been perfect in the house and was great with the children.

Can't wait to meet Raven on Sunday. She's Crash's great granddaughter which I think makes myvSam her great uncle - or half great uncle anyway. I haven't quite worked out the relationship with Nadie - Nadie is Crash's granddaughter. If she's anything like Nadie she'll be very alert and clever. The Crash genes make for very good looking houndies. x
