By the edge of a wood, at the foot of a hill, in a lush green meadow where time stands still,
Where the friends of men and women do run, when their time on earth is done,
For here between this world and the next is a place where all beloved creatures find rest.
On this golden land they wait and play, till the rainbow bridge they will cross one day, no more do they suffer in pain or sadness, for here they are whole.
Their lives filled with gladness, their limbs are restored, their health renewed, their bodies have healed with health imbued.
They romp through the grass without even a care, until the day they stop and stare. All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert, then all of a sudden one breaks from the pack.
For just at that second their eyes have met, as they see each other, both person and pet, they run to each other these friends from long past, the time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt whilst they were apart has turned to joy for both in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever, then side by side they cross over together.

Like everyone else I am just gutted to learn you have gone. You were so sad when I gave you a cuddle the other week....it is clear you have been unwell without any obvious signs, for probably quite a while. Life is so cruel and I feel the depth of sadness that your parents must be feeling but I am glad you did at least get the chance of a nice home and I am just so very sorry the last weeks have been unsettled for you. Rest in peace lovely girl. I hope you find my Melly and Teddy. They will be just the right tonic you need until those that love you can join you. Love Seana and Fergal xxxx

Ruby fell asleep this morning with myself, Kate and her previous owner hugging her and telling her how special and loved she was. She slipped away quickly and is no longer suffering. Sleep tight little one..... we are heartbroken x

Yesterday morning I took Ruby to the new Blaise referrals center in Longbridge. Ruby has been with me since last Thursday evening on foster after Cath brought her round to mine, who had been fostering her previously but due to commitments couldn’t keep her.

Ruby had started falling over, very often would be ice cold despite coating and blankets and had a very poor appetite. An MRI was performed yesterday and sadly confirmed our fears that she has a large mass… nearly a third of the size of her brain. This explains her incoordination, lack of appetite and temperature control.

She has been on our bed again all night but has been very distressed and sadly the kindest thing we can do for her, as advised by the neurology specialist yesterday, is to let her go. We are all heartbroken…. yet again….
My thanks go to Chris and all the fabulous volunteers for opening up and closing down the kennels so I could take her for her appointment. X

Her scan and appointment yesterday cost us over £3,000 so if you are able to donate towards this please click on the link below - there is a donate button on the right hand side of Rubys page x

Thank you to Cath for taking this little girl, it was so sad to see her struggling in the kennels yesterday. Hopefully having some doggy companions around her will start to help her, she really is so sweet. Xx

We are very grateful to Cath and her family for fostering little Ruby for us. We hope she will benefit from spending time with their dogs and help us to understand what her problems are. Such a sweet girl. Xxx

Very sadly Ruby has been returned to the kennels today. She has had extensive health checks and has been given the all clear. Which is wonderful news. However, Ruby is a very nervous girl and despite her owners trying many ways to help her, they have decided their home is not right for her. She may be happier sharing her life with another dog. Ruby's family are desperately sad and upset. We feel they have made the right decision for Ruby and we hope to find the right situation for her as soon as possible. Xxx

Ruby's owners contacted me early this morning to say they would like her back as they regretted the decision they had made yesterday.

As she had arrived yesterday seemingly unwell, I had told her owners that I would examine her and found that she was very tender in her tummy and pain when extending her back right leg, along with weight loss.

I arranged an urgent appointment and she was seen at Fivelands and an x-ray has been arranged. Her owners have taken her for her x-ray and we are awaiting for the results. We are hoping it is nothing serious. Her strange behaviour could be related to her being in pain and we hope this can be sorted.

Our latest new arrival is Stacy. Xxx A very pretty little girl. She was such a good girl while Shirley, Mary and Skye gave ger a bath. She has had a long racing career and now it's time she took a well earned rest and put her paws up on a nice comfy sofa. :)) Xxx

Welcome to Daybreaks. After 143 races you deserve your own forever home as soon as possible. Still only 6. Not 7 until December, so still young. x
