Lovely Lula Belle spent some time in the office today. She couldn't find the perfect bed, so Ruth took her home. The next time I saw her she was stretched out looking very comfy in Joseph's bed! Xxx
Saturday 10 Feb 21:53
Oh my word daybreaks what are you trying to do to me this week? I am so so sorry for Lula belle, but thank fully she won't know anything and will clearly be loved and cared for till it's her time to become an angel, but my heart 150% goes out to her owner and just looking at that bottom picture breaks me. What a heart breaking, awful decision he must have gone through. God bless to you all and Ruth and Andy you are so wonderful and brave. Lots of love Lula belle xxx

Lots of love to you Lula Belle and a big cuddle. xxx
Saturday 10 Feb 16:10
Yesterday I went out to Lula Belle as I keep a regular check on her as she was with an elderly owner. Daybreaks Trust paid for her to have a major dental in November last year costing over £600 as her owner was unable to afford the treatment.
Sadly now she has developed a massive tumour on her back. I took her to the vets yesterday and due to her sad prognosis, she has now been signed back into the Trust. We are going to keep her comfortable until it is time to say goodbye. She has made herself quite at home at ours and giving her as much TLC as possible.
Thursday 12 Jun 20:29

Sunday 01 Jun 22:59
Lula Belle came to Hatton with Duggie today and what a gorgeous girl she is. She hopped straight into the van and settled well for the journey. On arrival she enjoyed plenty of attention and cuddles and had a little walk around the shady edge of the field. She was most intrigued to see a spaniel practising recall and her hears stood to attention whilst she watched. She and Duggie got on well together, with lots of 'leaning' on one another going on. All in all a successful day, especially as it ended with the wonderful news that lovely Lula has been offered a new home. Good luck sweet girl.xxxx
Sunday 01 Jun 22:00

Sunday 01 Jun 19:49
I re-homed an older dog a few years ago , who's owner had sadly passed away, Ollie had his own little routines too but the experience was the most rewarding thing I have ever done.
To see him ,settled , one snowy night with his head on the radiator , was awesome .
scroll to the bottom of this webpage..
http://www.skyeterrierclub.org.uk/rescue/success-stories/
and read about Ollie and then make a big wish that Lula Belle finds a home really soon.
Good Luck Lula Belle .
Sunday 01 Jun 19:18
Hurray, Lula Belle has a home, Ruth is doing the home check tomorrow and taking Lula Belle with her. She has her bed and blanket with her tonight so it will smell like home. Bless her. Sweet dreams Lula Belle. xxxxxx
Sunday 01 Jun 17:31
Hope you've had a nice day Lula belle. Looking forward to meeting you. Xx
Sunday 01 Jun 08:00
As there had been an enquiry about Lula, we dropped her back at the kennels after her walk yesterday. Although she had only been with us a very short time, she completely stole my heart. Such a pretty grey face, she obviously has her own routines which she was happy with and that included commandeering the sofa!!! Such a gentle soul, she loves her treats and carries them off to eat them somewhere else, just like our Shane used to do. She was so good on her walk, interested in everything and trotting along at a good pace too. Unfortunately she isn't cat friendly, she became quite lively and had a good old bark at our neighbours cat as it walked past the gates! I am so sad we couldn't keep her for longer, but hope that at least her first night away from her old life was not too bad for her, and at least we can confirm she will be a fabulous addition to the right home. Fingers crossed for you my sweetheart. Xxx
Saturday 31 May 22:15
I really hope you find your new home soon because you must be feeling very sad, lonely and confused but I know everyone at Daybreak will look after you. Love Ava, Cara and Boo xxxx
Saturday 31 May 21:26

Friday 30 May 18:48
How lovely of you, Shanesmum. She looks so adorable. So sorry for Lula Belle and her family. Xxxxx
Friday 30 May 18:10
John and I had the pleasure of meeting Lula Belle at Daybreaks today and she truly is the most beautiful lady. Understandably a little nervous what with all the people around her, different noises, sights & smells, but without hesitation she approached John when he went into the kitchen run and they spent 10 minutes having lot of cuddles. I was lucky enough to have a somewhat shorter cuddle with her, but none the less, she's most welcoming to any human and was generating a lot of interest whilst we were there today. Whoever this lovely girl chooses to adopt will have the most adorable grey. Our fingers (& Rosie's paws) are crossed for you gorgeous that your new family is just around the corner. Tash x
Friday 30 May 17:43
Michael & I have brought Lula Belle home this evening as she was really quite distressed in the kennels. She is currently fast asleep on the floor in the living room, it has been such a traumatic day for her. Our thoughts go to Elizabeth's family at this awful time, and they can rest assured that this lovely girl will be well looked after and a new home found for her. xxx
Friday 30 May 16:46
Sending my cuddle to sad little Lula Belle. Xxx
Friday 30 May 15:51
How desperately sad. I'm having to wipe my tears away as I write. 8 years isn't that old in the grand scheme of things and I'm sure that Lula Belle has plenty of happiy times ahead. Hopefully she won't be at the kennels for too long. After all, she must be house trained, socialised and all ready to go. Good luck Lula Belle. xxx
Friday 30 May 15:39
I can only echo what has already been said, what a heartbreaking decision to have to make and under such circumstances. Fingers crossed for a speedy rehoming, we have seen it before with Surprise and Teaser, there are owners out there for these beautiful oldies.
Friday 30 May 14:22
My cuddle today goes to Lula Belle. There are so may losses in this heartbreaking story. She has lost her mum and lurcher brother and Elizabeth's family have lost a precious daughter. Let's hope that her stay at Daybreaks is a short one for all the right reasons.
Lula Belle is a half sister to my beautiful Lola, which gives her automatic rights to my e-cuddles as well. She's got a bit of catching up to do in the grey-face department but I am sure she'll make a wondeful addition to someone's family. Fingers and paws crossed here for a swift rehoming for this lovely girl. xxxx
Friday 30 May 14:15
How sad for Lula & for her family, and how brave to give her up if she can no longer be cared for. My thoughts go out to her family and I hope she is lucky soon. I have rehomed older dogs (Greys & others) in the past and they truly are a delight usually well past barking, chewing, biting & young dog silliness and happy to settle for a quiet life. Hope she's lucky soon.
Friday 30 May 13:58
It was heartbreaking to see Lula being returned today by Elizabeth's dad are thoughts are with him and the rest of Elizabeth's family.I hope he can take some comfort knowing Daybreaks will find this precious girl a lovely new home. She is a lovely girl with gorgeous snowflake markings.Lets hope she will be re-homed this weekend.
Friday 30 May 13:19
MY cuddle goes to you darling such sweet a girl xxx
Thursday 29 May 23:54
What a shame for this black beauty I wish I could help but my house is not big enough for an other one her story is so sad I hope she finds a good home soon xx
Thursday 29 May 22:50
Such a sad story - our hearts go out to Lula and her family. What has happened to her lurcher brother? Having rehomed an older lady who is such a joy, I would ask any prospective adopters not to be put off by her age and be encouraged by the fact she has been in a home with another dog. These dogs have seen it, done it and got the Tshirt so are no trouble and settle really well. They just want someone to love them and give love to and they ask very little - already house trained and love to sleep and chill out. Our little oldie seems to have found a new lease of life so please don't overlook this beauty. Can't wait to meet her when I pop up on Saturday xxx
Thursday 29 May 21:57
This is so upsetting , I was trying to type more but I can't , I so hope Lula Belle gets a home really soon , my thoughts are with the family

Wednesday 28 May 15:31
It is with great sadness that we have heard that Lula Belle's owner Elizabeth passed away very suddenly.
Therefore It is with the regret of the family that Joy will have to come back to Daybreaks to be rehomed.
She has been in a home since March 2010 and I feel will stress, having lost her mum, her lurcher brother and the life she has enjoyed.
I am desperate to find this little girl a new home as soon as possible and I appeal to anyone thinking of adopting to spare a thought for Joy.
She was a long stayer previously....
Having spoken to Elizabeth's Father - I know how just heartbreaking this is going to be to bring her back to the kennels on Friday and our thoughts are with them as they are going through a very very tough time. x
Thursday 22 Dec 15:43
I am sure she loves you just as much as you love her! She is a very lucky girl to have such a lovely home. Wishing you all a Happy Chistmas. xxx
Thursday 22 Dec 14:51
Hi. Im Joy's Mummy! She could not be more happy (and more spoiled)! I am completely smitten with her, she is my angel and she loves her lurcher brother too. She is the cleverest, sweetest little girl and ... oh I'd better stop rambling on like a nutter! Needless to say, there are not words to express how much I love her. Happy christmas everyone! xxx
Friday 26 Mar 20:32
It was an overwhelming pleasure to hear Joy has settled in so well and was signed up today..... she has been renamed by her very special mum who gave her a chance..... Lula Bell - I love you baby and am so happy for you xxxx

Saturday 27 Feb 06:33
I am desperately hoping you are being a good girl whilst on trial in your new home. xxxxx
Wednesday 24 Feb 08:00
I have been accused of spoiling Joy..... don't know what everyone means - she spends the day with me everyday in the kitchen or office instead of her kennel, being cuddled and treated...... no - she is not attached at all! LOL!
My heart will absolutely break when she goes on Friday but I am so happy for her. She has waited so long to be picked - she is a special poppet.... especially now we have stopped her weeing on the sofa in the run!!!!!!!!!!!!
Monday 22 Feb 16:21
Woot woot woot!! Well done Joy - hope you'll be very happy in your new home. Someone is going to be very lucky to have you. xxx
Sunday 21 Feb 18:35

Oh, well done Joy, really happy for you! xxxx
Sunday 21 Feb 16:41
i am so happy to see the long awaited reserved sign , well done beautiful little girl, you so deserve to be loved , good luck my lovely. xxxx
Thursday 18 Feb 16:13
As one of the volunteers who walks her when i am at the kennels i can vouch for the fact that she walks very nicely on the lead, as they are all still trust dogs we can't let them run off lead so that is an area where she as well as all our greys need to be trained in. my 3 greys are not able to go off lead as there is no where suitable for them to be trained to recall safely, however i know plenty of people who are lucky enough to live somewhere where they can train their greys and they do walk them off lead. Joy is just what her name indicates, a joy to be around. Ina x
Thursday 18 Feb 13:20
OMG i have tears in my eyes,i want her so bad but i already have a grey cross whippet n a cross staff both are rescue dogs n my grey who is called barney would absoulty love her! is she good off a lead????
Wednesday 17 Feb 21:34
i really don't understand why Joy has not been chosen she is so lovely...wait a little longer and someone special will come along for you little girl..xxx
Tuesday 16 Feb 10:51
My youngest fell in love with Joy, and as much as she loves Molly (Claire), she still misses Joy. (In fact, she's making her a card as I type.) Joy is such a lovely, lovely girl - I hope someone will give her a fantastic home soon.
Monday 15 Feb 08:08
Kerry covered the kennels yesterday for me and I popped up before closing to see the inmates! Kerry told me she was worried about Joy as she was very down and wouldn't eat..... I went into her kennel - immediately she leapt to her feet and gave me lots of kisses and cuddles - her tail wagging...... I must admit I have been spoiling her and everyday she comes into the kitchen and gets lots of TLC during the day and of course she hadn't done this as the kitchen had been so busy. She is a clever girl - knows what she wants and gives a lot in return. I hope someone falls in love with her soon.
Sunday 14 Feb 23:35
My beautiful black girl Izzy is a big grey and quite bouncy, and because of this she had been in kennels for a year when we homed her. People passed her by because she looked as "mad as a box of frogs" as the saying goes.
We have had her just over a year and she is still bouncy with a real love of life and a great love of people.
We are so glad we gave her a chance, and to prove she didn't put us off she has a brother and a younger sister now as well. All of them different characters and personalities, but blend together to balance us humans and show us how to take life as it comes and just luv one another.
I am sure this girl would be the same. She has been waiting too long, please give her a chance someone xxx
Thursday 11 Feb 22:08
Joy I have looked at greyhound data and you will certainly make someone happy a honcho you may be a little bouncy girl but you will have a wonderful happy nature.please give this girl a nice long walk and her character will shine through. Just because shes been in the kennel a while should not put anyone off, she needs a nice pigs ear and a few sausages.
Tuesday 09 Feb 16:58
she is breaking my heart as she is such a lovely little girl and yet she is still at the kennels, i know that she is bouncy when in the kennel but once on the lead she is a perfect little lady and walks very calmly, all she needs is a home and some attention and she will settle right in. surely someone out there will want to own this stunning little girl, just because she is a black greyhound does not mean that she is not special...i have 3 black hounds and to me they are the most stunning of them all. Ina xxx
Thursday 04 Feb 11:26
Poor Joy - if you'd passed your cat test, you could have been warming yours paws in front of the fire here long ago. Hopefully someone will soon realise what an absolute star you are.
Wednesday 03 Feb 18:03
Why oh why is Joy still here? By the sounds of it she's wonderful and she is beautiful! I'm trying to persuade the parents that Joy would be a lovely sister for Monty, perhaps he'd stay on his OWN bed then! Mum likes the look of her, but it's back to persuading Dad again! Fingers crossed we'll be able to get Monty a friend, hoping that its Joy or one of the other black beauties who've been here for a while. Hope you find a perfect home soon sweetie xxx
Wednesday 03 Feb 17:38
Oh, Joy, I'm so sorry that our home wasn't right for you, I think the boys would have driven you mad! Still it broke my heart to say no to you when you so wanted to get into my car, I feel like a really horrible person, but the decision had to be based on all my family's needs and not just mine. You are so beautiful and full of character I know the right home is out there for you, sorry it wasn't ours :(
Tuesday 02 Feb 12:09
not sure.....! sorry!
Tuesday 02 Feb 10:27
Would she be any good with other small dogs and hens?

Wednesday 27 Jan 19:14
poor little baby, i am sure she'll be quite happy to spend her time with the 'Boswell clan' in the kitchen now cadging the odd treat here and there. she is such a sweet little girl hopefully it won't be too long before she is homed as well. xxx
Wednesday 27 Jan 17:32
Awwwww i can't believe joys not homed yet, She's a lovely, boucy little lady, very Friendly. When she was at her trainers, wenever i went into her kennel i was always welcomed with a tail wag! She always used to try rob my gloves out of my pocket, cheeky! It ended up being our little game, bless her! she loves affection and a nice scratch behind her ear, she would make an amasing family pet! Miss you cheeky joy! Your be homed soon xxx
Wednesday 27 Jan 14:37
Poor Joy - she has been miserable since Max her kennel mate went to his foster home on Monday. Today she wouldn't get off her bed or eat her breakfast so she has spent the day in the kitchen with Foxy and Joe. One of the beds is in a corner under the worktop and she has spent most of the day there! Initially rejecting every treat given, she was intrigued by a peice of banana offered and she has since been out and wagging her tail to everyone who comes in the kitchen.
Tuesday 26 Jan 19:29
Yes she is a lovely girl and she got on great with Guinny, I should imagine she would be great in a home who had other greys too. Shame it can't be ours, but 2 is enough at the moment. I look forward to seeing the reserved sign go up soon.x.
Sunday 24 Jan 19:04
Joy is still with us and i can't understand why that is. apart from not being cat friendly she is a lovely little lady and not everyone has cats so for all of you out there without the moggies please take a little time out with Joy and see how lovely she is. Ina xxx
Saturday 23 Jan 21:08
