Brook

male, 20 years old, Black and White

Added by DaybreaksRuth

Updated: Monday 01 Jan

Brook was homed at the end of May 2007. His owners have decided to emigrate next year and feel the best thing for him is to be rehomed sooner rather than later. He is totally cat friendly and the most lovely boy you could want to meet. He is coming in with Joker but his owners have said that Brook and Joker can be homed seperately.

Brook and Joker are arriving on the 21st August and we are anxious to rehome them as quickly as possible.

Brook has had 0 cuddles today (14 all together).
If you register or login, you can give him a cuddle too!

I am absolutely heartbroken to hear that Brook has gained his angel wings. This fella was a very special boy to me - he used to stop a lot at my house when he was owned by his previous owner. A special boy taken too soon and my thoughts go to his owner who is understandably devastated. Big hugs to you Chris - you gave him a wonderful life x He is running free now xxx

I'm desperately keeping my fingers crossed for Brook today. He has been limping and is off for x-ray/bone biopsy of a lump on his leg.

Thanks, Julie for asking after Brook. He and his new sister Kaiah (Isla on this site) are busy learning new tricks from each other. He is busily showing Kaiah how to play with squeaker toys to best effect and leave them dotted all around the house, how to shred cardboard and paper, how to bark loudly every time he is excited or wants attention and how to do super-fast turns or emergency stops on the lawn, ripping up the turf in the process. In return, Kaiah demonstrates to him how easy it is for her to raid his own food bowl if he is distracted and how to stalk and attempt to terrorise the local cat population (something he doesn't understand as he is cat friendly). They both try to outdo each other when shouting at squirrels and rabbits. He has also had to accept that she is the boss, reinforced by her deep growling whenever he puts a foot wrong. However, he has a laid - back character and takes it all in his stride. I am sure that he loves living with us really!

Thank you, BrookelodgeBaby, for your good wishes, and I feel very lucky to have found such a special boy! I will work hard to ensure that he and his new sister have as good a life as I can possibly manage. It may be different from what has gone before but I am sure that he will remember you with great affection. I hope that all goes well with your forthcoming relocation.

Thank you Kaiahsdad for taking on my baby Brook. I guess Brook is used to getting up with me in the mornings but I'm sure his morning roll-call will get later and later as he settles into a different routine. Thank you so much for making his life more exciting and varied for him and I am so glad he was able to help with the fund raising. I bet he enjoyed the squirrel spotting as that is his favourite kind of outing. He is a very special dog and I'm so pleased that he has found a wonderful home with his new sister. Thank you again.

Really pleased to read that Brook has settled in so well. His previous brother Joker is doing fantastically well. It's as if he's always been around - and always so happy and bouncy with his new brother and sisters (that's when he's not asleep on the sofa or bed!). He's now mastered the stairs as well with much pride!

Just a note to let everyone know that Brook is settling in very well with his new sister Kaiah, is eating all his meals and treats with relish and enjoying his three or four daily walks. He particularly enjoys waking Kaiah and me up around 6.30am with some very vocal yawns and a single bark, and when I go downstairs to see him his teeth start chattering with excitement as he looks forward to half an hour of cuddles whilst his sister gets more beauty sleep before breakfast. He has learned how to share the sofa with Kaiah without upsetting her and they have started to play together in the garden, but his favourite pastime is playing with squeaker fitted soft toys and balls both inside the house and outside.

He had three special outings last week to vary the daily routine. On Sunday he and his sister attended a Coventry Greyhound Group walk around Hartshill Hayes Country Park with around twenty other greys, on Wednesday he went squirrel spotting in Coventry's Memorial Park, whilst on Saturday he and Kaiah attended a Collection at Dobbies Garden Centre, Mancetter, in aid of Greyhound And Lurcher Aid, the team that rescued Kaiah from being pts. His happy and contented nature plus his unusual "snowflake" markings proved a hit with the public and assisted in the raising of donations totalling £133. Well done, Brook!
