Firstly I would like to thank all those on the facebook page who were so kind when we lost Topsy a few weeks ago. I have never owned such an intelligent, refined, placid, tolerant dog - and my heart is broken that her passing was so traumatic (sudden collapse). In the words of Kipling I truly "gave my heart for a dog to tear". I initially agreed to let my boy (who loved Topsy and was more heartbroken than the rest of us) choose another dog which led to a visit to the Dogs Trust and a truly horrible experience (being paired with a lurcher that had serious psychological issues related to VERY extreme seperation anxiety with hyper fixation on one family member that they neglected to inform us of - the fact he had been returned twice and no work had been done by them with him to help should have been a red flag) - and we had to return him. So we will be doing what I wanted to do in the first place and looking into our third Grey.

Clean, dry and quiet night - just had her breakfast and a walk (so good on the lead!) Couldn't ask for a better Grey!

Just a quick Topsy update - managed to "persuade" her into the car - eventually I emptied the boot and removed the Parcel shelf (Madame did NOT want to ride on the back seat, wheras Dookie our old Grey would not get in the boot!) and after a gentle lift in she was quite happy.. lol. Took best part of 10 minutes to persuade her though!! We had an anxious drive home when I realized I couldn't get to the petrol station on the eastbound A45 and my car was telling me fuel was running out but we made it home, and she was as good as gold in the car. Grace (our 4yr old) was over the moon. Topsy had good scout round of the house, and a nose in the back garden, which impressed her. She has done a couple of "Number 1's" and a "Number 2", both of which she asked for by pacing and panting - and was rewarded with some cheese which impressed her even more for getting it right. This was followed by sporadic trips into the lounge to be adored and cuddled, topped off with a tasty Pigs Ear in the hall and a good drink to top things off. She is currently sprawled out in her "space" in the hall next to the radiator on her new bed (both kids are banned from here to give her a place to retreat to) looking very at home and taking it all in. Have some photo's I'll email over when I pull them from the camera.

Well done Topsy! Just as I was about to take you for your walk, you caught your new family's eye. They had no choice but to reserve you, you definitely chose them! I hope you have fun with your new human little siblings. xx

Lets just hope that despite Nanny's protestations, the pull of a Grey will win out... sorry mum I'm not giving up!

My son has just adopted Topsy. He is a seasoned greyhound owner and she will be blissfully happy with him. Him and his family fell in love with her at first sight. Looking forward to meeting you next weekend Topsy. Love, your new Nanny xxxxxx

Was a hard choice between Topsy and Jess, but we think Topsy chose us. Already have an excited 4 1/2 yr old who would rather daddy drove straight back over to get her - but we want to get home ready for her - nice new bed etc. I'm sure Dookie (Brindle male, Glenholme Duke - PTS October 2010) would have approved of her - despite our protestations we weren't "Grey"less for long.

gorgeous! Laura - ours is black and white, but mostly black, in fact very similar to Topsy's markings so - bet they are both from the Honcho line :)

Ooh lovely looking pic on greyhound data. Can't think I've seen a black and white that's mostly black before. Love it when there are newbies to fuss over. :-) xx
