Dingo has made me really proud! On Monday at training he did well with "stay" and weaving in and out of the other greys and today he did his first off lead. It was at the end of a long walk around the park and he ran about three or four circuits of the field, he then came back, we put his lead back on and went to the bistro for a drink. I did feel like I might have a heart attack when he was close to the car park but I know how much he enjoyed it so I will persevere and do it again tomorrow. Please keep your thoughts with him to keep him safe. I love my boy so much. X

Dingo is amazing! You wouldn't know he had a 3 1/2 hour operation yesterday. He is eating well, has been on a couple of walks and was just playing in the garden and didn't want to come back in. There has been a couple of spots of blood but the vet is really pleased with him. The vet thought he would need a pain killer injection today but as he is doing so well he just checked him over and sent us home. We need to pop back again in a week. Well done Dingo, you're a superstar. Xxx

Well Dingo has now been with us for 2 weeks and we couldn't be happier with him. He is calm, well behaved, good with the cats and loving towards us all. He absolutely LOVES the snow and skipped through it on his walk this morning. He also loves his new squeaky toy we bought him today and hasn't put it down yet (I haven't seen him so awake). So, so glad we have him in our lives. I love you Dingo. Xx

Thank you Coxycrew. We took him to Sutton Park again today and met with Heather and co and their dog Zak and that seemed to boost his confidence. He also made friends with Rooney at the Bistro. I'm hoping that with training classes and weekly walks in the park he will soon have lots of friends and be less nervous of other dogs on the walks. X

Hi Dingo'sMom, our grey Marnie was very nervous of other dogs (any shape or size) at first, it just takes time and patience and a few meet ups with other dogs. We have had Marnie for 9 months now, and she has regular mates, Alf the GSD cross especially, who have helped her gain confidence. I'm sure he will be the same. We met Dingo at Sutton on the walk a few weeks back, he's a lovely boy and stood with Marnie for ages no problems at all. He was so good I had trouble giving his lead back to his foster mom! Good luck x

Dingo is slowly seeming more confident with us and will come up to us for little cuddles now which is great. We took him for a long walk around Sutton Park this morning and although we could tell he was enjoying it, every time a dog approached him he was very scared. Even little dogs sent him hiding behind me and when another grey ran over happily he cried out in fear. We are going to book him onto Monday's training class but has anyone got any advice for us? Wondering if we should take him somewhere quieter tomorrow.

Dingo is still behaving beautifully and is getting more used to the cats. I am worried though that i've been expecting too much from him. While cuddling him yesterday I noticed that he was yawning lots and licking his lips. I suddenly remembered reading that Walters new owner had written that he had displayed the same actions before snapping at her and they are signs of stress. I started to feel a little nervous of him and incredibly guilty. I didn't want to cause him any stress I just wanted him to know how much I love him. After getting advice, we are now leaving him to just come to us (which he isn't doing much!) and hopefully he will learn to trust me soon. I just love him so much and want him to be happy.

Dingo went to bed without any fuss last night and when we came down in the morning he was still lying on his bed. He has had no accidents and has been good as gold. We have just got back from a 50 minute brisk walk around the park and hope that, with a 20 minute walk in the morning, will keep him settled while we are at work tomorrow. Also, love the surprise of seeing him run around the garden off his lead for the first time today (that must be what wears him out enough to sleep all night and most of the day). Loving been a first time dog owner :)

I've just had a cuddle with Dingo. I told him he is going with Dolly to his new home tomorrow.
I told him his first Mum keeps updated on how he doing is via the Daybreaks website and is pleased to hear he has a new home.
I told Dingo although his not been with us long, he has been a pleasure to foster and we will miss him.
I've explained that his new family are planning to take him to training and on some of the Sutton park walks so he will still be able to see his new greyhound friends Josie and Louis from time to time and tell them about his new adventures.
I told Dingo that he is going to live with the lovely family he met at Daybreaks the family he seemed really taken with and went back to for extra cuddles when it was time leave. I've explained that I met with his new family yesterday and they have been busy preparing for his arrival. I've told him how comfy his new bed looks and that the whole family are very excited about him going to live with them.
To be honest I'm not sure he understood a word I said but he looked at me gave me a lick and went to his bed for a sleep. That's good enough for me.

Dingo is such a good boy. He loves his meals and treats, he is normally finished first but knows he is not allowed to go near our other greys until they are finished so he just comes and has a cuddle until they are done. He is clean in the house. Dingos tail never seems to stop wagging his such a laid back gentle giant. Jim stayed in with him today while I took Louis and Josie to the vets. (Louis is lame again more painkillers and Josie was due her 6 month check up). Dingo whined a little as we left then went and had a great big cuddle with Jim for 10 minutes then went to his bed lay down and went to sleep. He just takes everything in his stride. He will make a wonderful addition to someone home.

Dingo and Tigger the cat spent a bit more time together today. Dingo sniffed Tigger wagging his tail while Tigger rubbed her head on the end of his muzzle (always best to be careful when it's a new cat and grey) it was all going so well until Tigger went 'Meow' poor Dingo had either not heard a cat make noise or was not expecting it as it really made him jump. All he did in his scared state was back away from her. Dingo is a brave man though and in less than a minute he realised he didn't need to be scared. Dingo was back sniffing Tigger wagging his tail while Tigg's chatted away to him.

This is what the family said who brought Dingo back yesterday: We took Dingo on trial and he is a beautiful dog - calm and peaceful, walks very well if a little nervous of other dog who come towards him. He gets on very well with our epileptic and slightly grumpy puli. He has been completely clean in the house and is very quiet. He sleeps all through the night.
We only wish we could keep him but having had him for a couple of days we have realised that unfortunately he is not for us despite him not doing anything wrong. It was entirely our miss-judgement and no reflection at all on Dingo but until we had spent some time with two dogs, we realised we had taken on too much. We really cannot say enough what a wonderful dog he is - he is very gentle and loves to be hugged, giving little kisses to let you know he wants more cuddles.
It was heartbreaking to take him back and we hope that the right family come along for him soon as he really does have so much to offer.

Dingo had a very good first night with us in his new foster home. When I came down this morning there were no accidents and he went straight out to the toilet so he obviously knows to hold on rather than go in the house. He's getting on well with the cat, she ran away from him this morning and he didn't give chase which is a very good sign. He has also fitted in well with our other 2 grey's. He's very well behaved and is very loving. Having been in a home for so long he deserves to find another as soon as possible. I can't imagine there's many grey's that would give anyone adopting him less trouble, he really is such a good boy.

Thank you Deb for introducing us the the lovely Dingo.
I met him on the walk in Sutton Park this morning and have bought him home as a foster dog. He went straight out to the toilet and has been clean in the house. His tail doesn't stop wagging when you talk to him. He met the cat and looked away when we said leave it. He seemed more interested in what we were feeding her than her. If anyone is looking for a lovely handsome black boy look no further Dingo is your man. It's been a busy day his now lying flat out snoozing.

Took Dingo to Sutton today didn't find him a permanent new home but the next best a lovely foster family.
Dingo is just lovely and ideal for someone who is looking for their first grey or has other dogs or cats.In fact he would probably fit into most homes with ease.
He is friendly, house trained, cat tolerant, has lived with little dogs and is easy to walk on the lead. His tail hasn't stopped wagging all morning,he seems a happy laid back kind of a guy who loved to be amongst all the other greys who were out for their morning stroll. He is quite a big boy but such a softie he likes to curl up in his bed with his own little rag doll.
I hope he finds his new home as soon as he can.He has certainly been loved and cherished by his former family.

It is bonkers that warden schemes including these new retirement villages ban pets.People with pets live longer, they have better physical and mental health than non dog owners and visit the GP less often.Very short sighted - I feel a campaign coming on ............

It saddens me how lots of accommodation, particularly for older people, has a no dogs or no pets stipulation. I visited an old people's home recently that had a resident dog and a cat. If they can manage it, i'm sure most other schemes can also, with a bit of thought. All evidence points to pets being very therapeutic / good for people's mental health. I think it's so sad that people have to give their pets up because of rules and regs :O(

What a wonderful boy this is, a welcome member to any family as he is quite calm (has moments of madness when excited) he likes to cuddle the girls and really knows how to relax with feet in the air. This darling boy will give you love and be your friend forever x x x x

Ah Dingo looked a lovely fella when I met him a couple of weeks ago. He seemed to be a lovely gentle boy and reminded me of our gentle boy, Gent. Can't remember exactly how big he was, but I'd say don't let the size put you off. Our 35 kg boy is a lot calmer, placid and gentle than our 27 kg little girl, who is affectionately called our Pocket Rocket! Go meet Dingo and take your children-you'll know straight away if he's the boy for you, trust me, they have a magical way of choosing their owners! If not, spend some time with the others and see who gives you 'the look''. Good luck. Mand x

Dingo is such a lovely natured gentle lad, he walked so nicely and is so affectionate and patient. i spent ages brushing him so that his kennel coat comes out and he just leaned against me and let me. he will make a wonderful pet for someone, hopefully i won't take too long. :-) xxxxx
