Update on Joeys off lead adventures...Today hubby let Joey off in the same field, had a lovely time, Joey went and did lots and lots of sniffing. Hubby tried to call Joey away from his sniff spot, Joey looked up but didn't move and carried on sniffing. Hubby whistled, called several more times but same response from Joey. Hubby started walking away with Milly in the direction of the house, turned around, Joey in same place sniffing. Hubby called and whistled again - Joey BARKED!! LOUDLY! Hubby called and whistled - joey barked again!! Repeat x5! Hubby walked over to Joey who then ran towards him, circled him 3 times, came close then hopped away again!! Finally Joey came over to hubby for some cuddles and love after having been very cheeky!! More work required! xx

Joey had a fantastic run off lead in the field today - he seems so happy when he goes off lead - his tail was practically horizontal (look at his rehoming pic for comparison) we have been beginning to work on his recall to a whistle and he is such a good boy - soon as he hears the whistle head up, looks at us and runs to us. He had a lovely play off lead with a doberman who we reguarly walk with as well - so good to see him happy and confident but also so clearly attached to us and wanting to please. Best. Dog. Ever! xx

Joey has just come home from his Christmas stay at Bark Inn whilst we went down to visit my parents in Somerset. He greeted us with tiny licks to our hands and an extra boing in his step as he came down the kennels to meet us again. He's my beautiful first greyhound and I am so glad for the love he has given us. He's now curled up by the radiator after having a mad five mintues killing his toy!xx

Wowee Joey - 2 years since we came and collected you from daybreaks. He received the best compliment ever this weekend, he was staying at Bark Inn Kennels with Milly as we were away for a wedding and the ladies at Bark Inn said they would never have known he was a timid boy!! Is this really the same Grey Face we picked up 2 years ago who wouldn't come to me for a treat, who shyed away from every new person he meT?! He is still anxious sometimes but doing so much better and seems so happy, bouncing when we come down in the morning and in from work :)

We are planning on coming to the show so shall see everyone then :) Thanks Daybreaks for letting us have Joey, he has made us all so happy xx

Joey had a lovely visit to the kennels today for his annual bath....he was very well behaved unlike Milly who tried to climb out the bath by rearing up onto her hind legs and then sulked and turned her back on us all afterwards!!

We spent New Year in Cornwall and thoroughly wore out Joey and Milly with there country cousins Abbie and Ernie (lurchers) they had a great time long walks on the moor and lots of attention.

Thanks Sue for bathing them today - they smell of strawberries now!

Happy gotcha day joey! Can't believe it was one year ago we collected a skinny, timid boy. You have now blossomed into a handsome and faithful hound who I love so so much and can't imagine being without!! Lots of love Rosie and Milly xxx

We have had Joey for just over 6 months now and its hard to see him as the same dog thats in the rehoming picture. He has put on lots of weight, its hard to keep it on him but he looks loads better! he is fab with the cats and seems to be happy to have a new girlfriend in Milly.

He has developed some aggressive tendencies towards other dogs when out and about it the last few weeks/months so his muzzle is back in place but we are working really hard with him to start to change his behaviour.

So glad we came to Daybreaks and got beautiful Joey, hes been a great first hound and we love him to pieces :) xxx

We have had Joey for 8 weeks now and what a great 8 weeks it has been! He has settled in really well and fits in with our routine perfectly. Still no accidents in the house and a very waggy tail when we get in from work or come down in the morning. He runs round and round our garden like a race track and then asks us to chase him! He is slowly putting weight on and looks less skinny than when we first reserved him all those weeks ago. He is doing really well at training - his recall is coming on leaps and bounds. Love Joey to bits and so glad we came to Daybreaks and adopted him. Now just waiting for hubby to OK greyhound number 2....!! xx

One week in and Joey is really starting to show his personality! Hes really playful in the garden, and loves bounding around and acting like a puppy! He is now eating all his meals every day and wags his tail when his lead comes out for a walk. Today he was amazing - we travelled to Stow on wold to meet my parents and their collie. He was perfect in the car and although a little anxious at first behaved really well around the town and on a 3 mile walk. He was great with my parents collie - couldnt have asked for more! Can't wait to keep seeing him coming out of his shell :)

Just read about Joey in his new home. After looking after him in our home for 2 weeks I can honestly say he is such a gentle loving dog. He was very shy & nervy at first but gradually came round. His tail went 10 to the dozen when you came into the room & he'd lie by you.He loved going out on his walks. It was lovely to see him gaining weight day by day.I must say we were really upset to see him go, we just fell in love with him.A few tears have been shed. But also we're so happy that he's found a lovely new home to go to.I hope that we continue to hear how he's getting on in the future.

Joey has been such a good boy today!! We went on a lovely 45 minute walk and he has done lots of wees in the garden! He is still quite anxious and didn't eat all of his dinner but we tempted him with some pilchards and a boiled egg. Been brilliant with the cats and totally ignored them - they arent so sure though!

Joey is a very poorly boy at the moment. He struggled coming round from his anaesthetic and Debbie the vet nurse took him home last night to keep an eye on him. His throat has swollen and we are awaiting for blood test results to see what is the next step with him. Until then, he will be stopping at our house where he will get ultimate TLC x
