I have had 8 greys so far in total, currently have 4! But I have as I said previously had 5 from from Daybreaks. Daybreaks did not exist when I had my first 3 but I am so very thankful I found them and have been able to offer a home to some of these wonderful hounds, although the last one was a bit of an accident (failed foster by the way before anyone jumps on me for saying accident)! So very glad I failed with Maxi as he is totally gorgeous, as are all greyhounds. Xxxxx

Yes, I shed a tear too, I think all of us that have gone through loosing a grey know exactly how you feel, especially your first grey, for us our first dog together and first greyhound experience, we only managed a few weeks without Charlie before we came to Daybreaks and adopted Bertie, for us with no children the house was so empty and lifeless that I just could not bare to be there, six years on I still miss Charlie and think about him every day, but we have been so blessed with the two cheeky monkeys that we have now, both totally different to Charlie and each other, now at 11 and 12 I just thank my lucky stars everyday that they are with us, it's just so hard when it's thier time to go to the bridge, we are so sorry for your loss , ruby looked like an amazing girl X

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words. Ruby will be forever in our hearts as are all of our fur babies that have crossed over the bridge. Ruby was our second Greyhound. We were lucky enough to have our family blessed with Penny, also a RGT hound in 2004 and she shared her life with us for 6 beautiful years. Both girls were completely different in character but both were absolutely perfect.

Ruby was a very lucky girl to have been loved so much. What lovely memories you have of her. She has the same Dad as my Greyhound and they do look similar. Thinking of you all. Xxx

I have to say that I did have a bit of a cry over this. I am sure that you will find your perfect new hound at Daybreaks. I think we all need to remember that we are not replacing a grey but opening up our hearts and home to another worthy cause that deserves our love and care. Hope you are lucky enough to find your perfect solemate soon, I am sure that you will (hey after all I have found 5 so far)!. Xxxxxx

Oh my goodness what a heartfelt and touching message about your beautiful Ruby. I'm sure I won't be the only one who sheds a tear or two after reading this. There will be another greyhound who is ready to accept your love and care when the time is right for you and your family. When that time comes, I am sure that your Ruby will be smiling down on you all. xx

Ruby joined our family in 2011 and after 5 years and almost 3 months of pure bliss, our beautiful Ruby sadly crossed over the bridge following a short battle with the horrid 'C' word (joining our other dog in the photo, Copper, who left us in 2013 at the grand old age of 16 years). Thank you so much Ruth for letting Ruby join our family, Ruby was perfect in every way. She loved a run on the beach, was golden with the kids and other dogs, she was so quick to learn new tricks. Her favourite pastime remained snuggled up sleeping though and she never did get the hang of not trying to fly through the air like Bambi when seeing a cat but we didn't mind that. It has been almost a year since she left us and I still miss her calm, loveliness so much. We are nearly ready to welcome another hound into our family so when the time comes, I hope you would be kind enough to fill our lives once again with one of your gorgeous Grey's. xx

Ruby's first week has gone brilliantly. She's been great in the house and has started to come out of her shell now. She's always wagging her tail (except when she's asleep which seems to be her favourite pastime). She's been brilliant with the dogs coming in for grooming and follows my little boy Oliver everywhere! Think it maybe a while before she's cat friendly as she goes nuts if she sees one on our walks but I don't have cats at home so not too worried. I'm hoping that I can convince her in time not to chase them. She met the fox who lives in the bush opposite the house and looked very puzzled but didn't ty to chase her. All in all a great first week, we're all happy to have Ruby in our family :-) x

hi ! Just to let you know, the first night went better than we could have expected :-) . Ruby slept all night in her bed in the living room, without so much as a murmer. I'd left the door open so that she could come upstairs to us if she liked (our dogs usually sleep upstairs with us) but she seemed quite happy in her bed and was quite reluctant to get out of it at 6 am for a walk so gave her a lie in and she went for a walk on the school run where she met all shaped and sized dogs with no probs. No accidents during the night either! Absolutely amazed at how well she's settled in. :-D

What a lovely photo of Ruby and her new family. Sounds like you have an open invitation Ruth to visit any time and looks like Ruby will be really loved, so don't be too sad. Mand x

Ruby played with a toy for the first time today :-)

She still loves to sleep at the bottom of the stairs despite dog beds being available all around the house! We have therefore moved the dog beds to where she likes! Not one accident and is fine to be left on her own for several hours... she is a treasure x

Sorry Lorraine - don't know if she is good with kids or other dogs as she literally hasn't moved off her bed since she came to ours, other than for toileting outside!!! I left her for a few hours this morning and this afternoon and she was still in the same position when we got home! We will be able to tell more once she has fully recovered in a few days .

Ruby was picked up directly from the vets yesterday after her spey and has spent the night at ours. She loves laying by the front door and hasn't moved all night! She wasn't bothered at all by the fireworks going off either :-) Such a sweetheart
