I would like to thank everyone for your kind messages of sympathy and lovely comments. It has been a pleasure to care for Agnes, a sweet girl who didn't ask for much but seemed to enjoy her new life of pottering in the park, a little play and lots of cuddles. I'm so sad she couldn't have had more time but her old heart had other ideas. We miss her very, very much and always will.

I just happened to be at kennels on Agnes' adoption day & met Beryl. What a wonderful lady to give homes to the much more mature dogs that arrive. I'm so sorry for you loss but know from meeting you that Agnes had the most wonderful last year.

I'm so sorry for your loss beryl,I was there one of the days when she was in the treatment room. I sat in there with her most of the day x she had a lovely last year in a loving new home with people who loved her xxx

Agnes is settling really well, she's very quiet and gentle and finding the big wide world a curious place, but she's gaining in confidence every day which is lovely to see. We're being very quiet and gentle with her and she seems to trust us now and comes for some love and fuss more and more. We've been to the Sutton walk today and she found so many people a bit overwhelming but when I got the sausages out she soon perked up!! We'll be at Waseley next Sunday so if you can make it Zara can meet her mom!

Lovely Agnes is settling in a treat. She's tried out all the beds and duvets and is currently on her back with her legs up the wall behind the settee. Was quiet overnight, clean in the house and eats like a horse. She'll have her first little walk tomorrow at the nearby country park and we can hopefully improve those doddery back legs quite soon.

Ray - don't worry, she's absolutely fine here, we'll take good care of her and hopefully see you at Sutton Park, and thank you to everyone else for your lovely comments.

not that I am EVER emotional..... but I was in tears today when a home was offered to the most beautiful, gentle girl I had fallen for. If it wasn't for the fact that I already have 6 and also bring many of the kennel dogs home with me such as returnees or post ops, she would have become a permanent fixture here. However, I know the wonderful Beryl will be able to offer her a wonderful home - she just wants a comfy bed, and lots and lots of TLC which I know she will be guaranteed. Agnes looked so chilled and relaxed today at kennels all snuggled up on a bed in the treatment room.So pleased that Daybreaks will be finding her a home so she can enjoy a well deserved retirement in the comfort of a home.

My son says he "needs" Agnes to come and live with us! I know what he means, but sadly it's not to be. She is such a lovely, gentle old thing. I hope she finds a home soon. xxx

i would love to be able to offer Agnes (or Rocky) a home but unfortunately we're due to be having a lot of work done in the house over the next few weeks and are unsure of how Cally & Mystic are going to cope with all the disruption and it would be unfair to bring another into the house. however if they are still in need of a home after the work is done we'd be more than happy x

Beautiful Agnes broke my heart when she arrived this afternoon after she had been speyed. She is the most beautiful girl.

She has had several litters of pups during her life (see Greyhound Data link) - we have already homed a few of her offspring (more recently Bower Girl - Flossie).

At her age, she just wants a comfy bed - Ray, one of the volunteers has taken her home as I have the two girls (Tink and Dora) here post op. Can't wait for Agnes to recover from her op so we can give her a bath and get her fur back to a beautiful gleaming white and help her put some weight on as she is rather thin.

looking at her race history she seems to have only raced 18 times but was placed 13 times has she been used for breeding.I have to agree she does look a bit sad and on the thin side or are the pictures deceptive.

We have all been broken hearted today over this poor baby, get well soon beautiful girl. xx
