I agree. We have one of each and our boy is a lot less work than our pint-sized pocket rocket Emily. He's a gentle boy who likes to rest on his bed too, whereas Emily always seems to have ants in her pants! Love 'em both more than words can express, but the boys do seem calmer to me too - I just think that there is more of them to cuddle! Mand x

I totally agree with Kallie and Ruth. I have two girls and a boy. The boy is so much easier. He is huge 38kgs, but such a gentleman. We laff at him, he is only 3, and he acts like a pipe and slipper man. Please look at the boys, they are to so laid back, and will reward you with so much love.xxxxx

just to add to Ruth's comment about the boys waiting so much longer to be chosen, i am owned by three beautiful greyhound boys who are the most loving and gentle companions, by choice i would always have a dog as i find them very placid and easy to live with, the only difference being that they are bigger and stronger than their female counterparts....so if any of you out there are looking for a companion then have a look at some of the beautiful boys at the kennels, you will not regret giving one of them a home...xxx

Hi Mutty22jaf! When a dog retires, their name goes on a waiting list (a bit like the NHS!) and they stay with the trainer until their name comes to the top of this list.
This mainly applies to the boys as we have over 40 on the waiting list.
As we home a grey, we take a next one of the list.
There is virtually no waiting list for the girls as they home so much quicker so they pretty much come in as soon as they are neutered, and today I am off to pick up two girls direct from the vets..... so if anyone is looking - think of our handsome boys please! x

Hi Wispa'sMum,
Just curious but, if the dogs have to wait on an 8 month list to come into daybreaks, where do they live in the meantime, is it with the trainer? Hope you dont think i'm being rude, but i have a greyhound as a pet from Monmore, (hope you dont mind me using your site) she had came in on the day that i went up there so i was very lucky, as i was looking for a cat friendly dog. and i just had to have her (you know what its like lol) she had lived with cats, and she is certainly cat/furries friendly, but was not house trained :) She raced until she was 4, i got her when she was almost 5. So do you think she had been on a waiting list all that time, nobody has ever explained this to me, but it all seems to make sense now. Her racing name was Grange Sunshine and she had raced at Hall Green and Perrybar, and yet as i said I had her from Monmore Cannock. Just asking as you may be able to shed some light, sorry for asking but you are never to old to learn!

This greyhound is the most special boy! was a very sad day when he got injured, but he pulled through and his leg has got stronger and stronger :) one word to describe him would be "charming" everyone that meets him fulls in love with his charming ways! his so clever, i did some basic clicker training with him and he picked it up instantly as all he ever wants to do is please. his so gentle and loving, always wanting affection and then he has his little hyper moments were he bounces around (bit of a pain when his leg was in a cast/splint as i think he forgot he was injured) . he walks like a show pony, prancing around, soo funny to watch as when he wee's he jumps over the spot as he doesn't want to put his back legs in it (yet he tends to wee on his front legs ahaa). Such a shame he retired at the time i was off to university but i know he has found a wonderfull home :) Him and Goldikova were my favourites, both perfect greys, they made me full in love with this wonderful breed.
All my love brave boy xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Mutty22jaf - a Trust dog is a grey that has been been rehomed through Perry Barr Retired Greyhound Trust.
Lester was on the waiting list to come into Daybreaks Kennels (the list for the boys waiting to come in is approximately 8 months long) and his trainer found him a home to go to directly rather than having to wait for him to come to the kennels.
Being still homed through the Trust (just never stepping foot...or should I say paw through Daybreaks) means that Lester's owners will have the back up and support if they need it from us as well as his trainer whilst Lester adjusts to home life.
