Billy

male, 17 years old, Blue

Added by DaybreaksRuth

Updated: Thursday 11 Jan

Bailey is a calm and gentle boy his trainer tells us.

Bailey has been returned as he was becoming very stressed around the owners toddler. They are very upset to have to return him but felt it was the right decision for the family and Bailey.
He would probably suit a home with older children and no cats.

Billy has had 0 cuddles today (41 all together).
If you register or login, you can give him a cuddle too!

had a bit of drama last week when they were in kennels, dreamer now sports a lovely scar! other than that though he's been a little darling and has settled right in as part of the family. oh, and he's already figured out how to open the cupboard where there treats are kept........time to find a new hiding place.

Ooooh, I'll have everything crossed too! I used to have a Yorkie, he was my first dog, he was little, fluffy, had 3 legs, people would stop me and oooh and ahhh at him but I loved him for his big dog attitude! He was such a strong confident character, nothing bothered him, he was an amazing friend to me and was with me during some tough times in my life...I loved him so much...when he died suddenly at 14 I wanted his brother (my spaniel) not to be alone and that's how Buddy, my first Grey, came into our lives...maybe this is fate? Your friend and Billy can give each other lots of TLC...still got things crossed! x

Oh Billy, this sounds promising, you deserve a loving forever home...Shelly, Billy stayed with me and my 2 boys for a few weeks whie Daybreaks was being beautified and he was a gorgeous house mate! I'm sure Ruth has filled you in on his history...he was very gentle and respectful of my children, who are 10 and 11 years old, they have been brought up around dogs and understood the rules of how to behave around a dog, but, because of Billy's history, we had extra rules to help him feel safe...they were told to be calm around him, not to stroke him when he was lying down but to call him over to them if they wanted a cuddle from him. He was happy with them running around playing near him, but I was always mindful to let him know he didn't need to worry. He's very interested in high noises, squeeky toys, whistling etc and I can see that he would find a young childs high voice, whether upset, happy or excited, very interesting/confusing and he'd need to be told not to worry. He is a beautiful hound inside and out who deserves the next home to be his forever one, we loved having him stay with us and if it wasn't for my sensible husband, he would have been our number 4 dog (boo to sensible husbands!) I'll keep my fingers crossed for a happy ending xxxx

What a lovely boy Bailey is. Saw him at the kennels today. He seems quite small for a boy (sorry Fearne, thought you were the boy in the kennel until I had a closer look!!!). He is such a gorgeous, gorgeous boy with a very gentle approach. If I could have got away with it, he would have come home with me! Mand xx

Billy was x-rayed yesterday to try and find out why he is so uncomfortable with his right front leg being touched. The x-rays showed no obvious problems so he is going to be kept on Metacam pain relief for a couple of weeks and then review him again. We are really pleased there is nothing serious to worry about :-)

Sorry Deb, I've only just seen your message...well Billy is such a star (I've been putting pictures and messages on the Daybreaks Face book page) I'd say it took him about 4 days to start to be really settled and each day he's getting his "spark" back, it's been a joy to see, today's first was a lovely lick on my nose! He's clean in the house, gets on with my greys and loves my 2 older boys, he doesn't react to non greys, he said a nice hello to a spaniel today, just looked to me for reassurance. He's not an obviously nervous dog, he'll go straight up to unknown people for fuss, he just wants to feel he's a good boy, which means he tries really hard to please...I will give Ruth the full low down on Thursday when he's back at kennels (poor Ruth, I have lots to gush about!) we have loved having him here and will miss him very much...we hope he won't be in kennels very long, he really deserves a forever home x

Oh Tash this is the best news since I got back from my disastrous camping holiday, I've thought of nothing but Billy all week. He is sooooo adorable, he just couldnt handle it when H cried (she is 6 so its not that often). I'm so glad he is in a home again for a while. Hows his limp? I miss him terribly and only had him for 6 days. Watch out for his feet...okay to touch whilst he is standing LOL! He is a pleaser and eats well, walks brilliantly and has excellant dog manners - so sorry that we had to bring him back......Good Luck Billy Bob xxxx t

He is loving the company of my 3 hounds and is being calm with my 2 boys...he eats well, is a dream to walk and is trying really hard to please...I'll update you on how he's settling in, as he's already been in a home before, wouldn't it be lovely if he could go from here to a home and not back into kennels, he is adorable! If you are interested in giving him a home you are more than welcome to come and see him here x

I was heartbroken dropping Billy off at kennels today. We wont be adopting him afterall, as he just couldn't cope with Heather being upset. He is a wonderful boy with lots of love to give and will be a super mate. He doesn't pull on his lead, eats well, understands a few basic commands and is still learning how to live in a home (worktops are not for resting your nose on and grills are hot & best avoided). I wish it could have worked out better for us but its just not to be this time....sob :(

Silly Billy has pulled a muscle, we think, when he jumped over the bike and landed awkwardly (bike a bottom of stairs......dont ask!). Anyway big thanks to Ruth for the magnatherapy & reassurance and Paul of LindaPaul for feeling out the rough bit of muscle to work on. Billy is not limping so much this evening, wishful thinking maybe but I beleive he is better already. Oh and Blossom bared her teeth at him tonight cos she had the new toy & Billy was eyeing it up...the joys! (She hasn't done that before - interesting body language...I'm always learning).

I'm actively encouraging hubby to make Billy his dog, think its working, well that was until he headbutted hubby in his muzzle at 6.30am, hubs was fast asleep at the time -LOL!

Baileys owners were distraught yesterday at havin to return him. They loved him so much but felt it was best that he came back bcus he was just gettin to anxious n excited whenever their 2yr old wud scream. They both left with tears in their eyes n really want Bailey to find a lovely new home. I kno they want a grey eventually but when the little ones a bit older. Bailey is lovely n has the added bonus of bein house trained n gud around other dogs. I'm sure he will hav a new home really soon n of course he's a blue boy n they fly out. O n don't worry pip he has settled back in the kennels straight away so no need to worry bout him cus he's fine. X

We are so, so sad. Bailey is a gorgeous boy. Fully house-trained, walks lovely on his lead, loves his food, quiet throughout the night. However he was getting very stressed and barking around our 2 year old little girl, particularly when she was crying, laughing or shrieking. He also became particularly upset when she was playing with me. He is so beautiful and soft - he deserves a home where he can relax and enjoy love and cuddles. He has been responding very well to commands -he's such a good boy. We are just hoping that he will soon find a lovely forever home. We'll never forget you Bailey Blue, love Lynn, Phil and Chloe X X X
