Michelle have just been a reading the posts about Bertie. Daisydog and I send our love for a positive outcome. Dd had a nasty tumour removed in December and she has made a full recovery. Our vet is going to check her every two months but anything health related is such a worry as our fur babies get older. You are doing just the right thing for your lovely boy so heres hoping everything turns out well. Big hugs from me and the girl xx

Bertie has not had his tumor removed today, his blood test is showing an abdomality with his Kindeys, so the vets are doing further investigations before opening him up !!... we will know more next week, so a long weekend is ahead of us now :(

Michelle, Roy, Bertie and Blade we will be thinking of you all. It's a horrible thing to face we know. Lena had a small tumour removed from inside her mouth last year. Our vet removed it with electro cautery so there were no stitches and luckily it was benign though we feared the worst which is just human nature. Keeping everything crossed for your gorgeous Bertie that his op goes well with a good outcome. We love them so much and they are such a big part of our lives but you have done the best thing having him seen by the vet really quickly.

Horrible day for us tomorrow, we found a tumour in Berties mouth yesterday and so after a visit to the vets today its has been decided that it is going to be remover tomorrow, last thing we want to do is put our old chap at any risk but we feel the op is giving him the best chance, we are staying positive and putting on a brave face ( but really I just want to burst into tears ) Bertie fills our lives with Joy and makes us smile everyday we are so lucky to have him in our lives x

Bertie , blade , Roy and I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas, we are so grateful to Ruth and everyone at Daybreaks who without them a chance of a life after racing may not have been possible.......it started sixteen years ago for us with our first grey/saluki cross called Charlie who was amazing and introduced us to the world of greyhounds, after he passed away we got our Bertie from Daybreaks and the rest is history......Daybreaks does certainly change the greyhounds lives but also the lives of all their humans, I couldn't begin to think of life without a greyhound ! I have helped out at daybreak s and help at the dogs day out In The country, but this is nothing compared to so many people who man the kennels, stand all day at the awareness events, organised the walks ,go and walk and wash the dogs , foster them to help their chances of rehoming and the list goes on....... You are all amazing and we feel truly
Priveledged to be apart of this wonderful family.....I wish everyone continued success for 2016 xxx

Poor Bertie! Hope he is feeling better soon. That's what makes me nervous of letting Dingo run off lead. The last time I let him he ran towards a car park and the time before tripped over and cried out. We take him free running when we can but he has the garden for now. I'm giving Bertie my cuddle today. Xxx

My lovely happy waggy tailed boy is not so waggy tonight, Bertie is so acciedent prone, he would be much better never let off the lead but running is his life unfortunately he has NO TECHNICQUE and always seems to return with a fresh wound !!! after slipping in the garden two weeks ago this wound has just about healed when he decieded to chase a deer today !!! Blade looked at him as if to say ;are you mad' but our Bert just could not resist and came back tail between legs looking very sorry for himself, I am afraid he will have to be content with walks on the lead and in the field for a while !!!

My two babies slept in their new 'lilly peeps' sleep coats last night !! and Bertie never barked all night !! dont know if the coat helped as his tummy and neck were covered, so perhaps he was more snuggly than normal, who knows ! but we had a right laugh with them at bed time, they have never had this kind of coat before, when we put them into the coats they both went all stiff as if to what what the .... have you put us in now !! and were walking round the house like a couple of darlicks !! has anyone else experienced this !!! lol

A huge thank you to Lorna who gave Bertie and Blade a 'pamper morning' this morning,I have never booked them into Lornas wash and dog groom before BUT after today they will both be regulars, we normally give them a bath at home, but this is SO MUCH MORE !!! a proper bath, nails clipped , ears and eyes cleaned and they small delicious !! I would really recomend this to everyone ( with four legs ) just great to have two lovely clean and beautifully scented hounds !!x

Well Bertie has now returned from his first holiday in France, he really loved it and had his 6th Birthday whilst we were away, it is hard to think that we have only had him a short time, he has just fitted in so wonderfully !!
he loved running up and down the beach and showed off his cool coat to all the french doggies he met ! we also met up with another 2 greyhounds ( Claude and Gypsy ) who are ex-racers from Hove, Bertie just loved Gypsy who became his holiday romance ( when they left he kept going over to try and find her ) and Claude was the biggest greyhound I have ever seen but scared of his own shadow !!
we came back a bit early so we could come to the open day at daybreaks and it was well worth it !!

While for us this was the first time we meet her, she will always be in our hearts and I know she was a well known girl so we feel sure she will be in yours.

Many Greys owe her a debt of gratitude for being rehomed from the awareness days that Katie attended, whereby she won the hearts of so many.

I asked my husband Roy to reply as i also do not know how to get onto you tube !! it has taken me until now to get the hang of emailing !!! hope you manage to se it !! it was taken as soon as we picked bertie up from Ruth, we were so worried that he would jump our fence but Bertie so not a jumper, his favorite place is the back of the car, where he will lie for hours looking out over the fields, there are lots of rabbits in the fields but he does not seem to be interested at all !! he is a very funny chap !regards michelle and bertie x

Know how you feel with regards to feeling Bertie has always been with you, had one of my girls in Sept and number 2 in January, watch out when visiting kennels you'll want to take number2 home, and we can not remember life with out them!! They are FABULOUS!!!

Bertie update !! what can I say no negatives at all after 4 days it is already hard to imagine that he has never always been with us !! he has seen lots of rabbits and really is not that interesred however small dogs do un nerve him a little but we are working on that, we have had him off the lead from day one around all the feilds around us and he really does not leave our side, Bertie is such a happy waggie tailed dog we feel very lucky to have found him !
