It is a year today since Joe went to pick up Joey from Ruth's and came back with another as well! Now Joey has gone and 'bogof' as my sister calls her (Foxy) is now the head of our new pack and much loved. But it is Joey who I am thinking about today and why I have tears in my eyes. I miss being mugged for cuddles by 'the black paw' which used to wave at me every time I walked past him. Such a fabulous boy who reminded me that when we take in an old unwanted dog, it is not just the dog who wins. Sleep tight my beauty xx

So sorry for your loss and for the fact you didn't have Joey for as long as you might have wanted. What counts is that he will have had a fabulous life with you and been a treasured member of your family during this time. xx

Thank you again for all your good wishes. We are completely heartbroken but still getting daily joy from our beautiful boy who is a real character and cuddle monster. His pain relief is currently very effective and we are hoping he will still be well in two weeks when we are off to Padstow again. I will be forever thankful to Ruth for allowing us to rehome him, I just wish he could have been with us for years instead of months. J+J xx

Thank you again for all your good wishes. Joey has now come back from his holidays in Padstow where he had a lovely time. He met lots of new friends, went on some lovely walks and particularly enjoyed raiding the bread bin and eating all the contents! He has put on some weight and his coat is getting lovely and shiny now. He loves fuss and being brushed. I spent some of the holiday cleaning blood from the walls where he had been wagging a bit too hard! Love from Jane, Joe, Gypsy, Iris, Joey and Foxy xx

Im so glad joey now has a loving new home.i was shocked and saddened by his photo and everyone I showed it too felt the same.i no time doesn't always allow but surely the rehoming greys should continue to be monitored at least annually to make sure all is still ok?maybe this is done I'm not sure as I only had mine in oct.glad joey has a new home though

Well, Joey has now been with us for two days and is settling in very well. He is quite thin but very waggy tailed and loves a fuss. We are having to re-learn that all edibles must be kept out of reach, he is a very tall dog and managed to snaffle some Toblerone from the back of the kitchen work surface! Just licked it though so no harm done. Yes he will have lots of naughty treats in Padstow and lots of lovely walks with his new sister Iris. Thanks for all your good wishes xx

Every time I see dogs returned like Joey I can't help but think how very lucky they are to have the kennels, Ruth and such wonderful volunteers to come back to. Too many dogs don't even have that. Good luck Joey and have a pasty for me.

Goodness, he doesn't have much meat on him does he? Hopefully a bit of sea air and some well deserved spoiling will do him the world of good. Good luck Joey - be good! Em x

Joey arrived yesterday with his owner who was very uspet to leave him. I was so saddened to see how skinny he was. I took him home with me and he has gone straight out to the lovely Jane and Joe on trial. He is off to Padstow on holiday at the weekend and I know he will be spoilt rotton!

I'm not sure from previous posts whether T is offering Joey a permanent home or foster - we are interested in offering him a permanent home as he is just what we have been looking for, but don't want to tread on anybody's toes. Ruth, we will be in touch

Joey will not be staying at Daybreaks as, coming up to 10 years old, I feel he would stress being in the kennels after being in a home for 5 years. If you think you could offer him a home, please let me know.
