We are the lucky people who get to walk Katie each weekday lunchtime. We love her already - she greets us ecstatically with lots of licks, stands like an angel to have collar and muzzle on - though changing her coat is a bit active!! - and then walks so elegantly. She already responds to wait and leave regarding squirrels and little dogs and is clearly very intelligent. Having always been German Shepherd people we now adore greyhounds. Katie loves her new home and family and they just love her back. Thank you for rescuing this beautiful girl.

Katie is a beauty, if we didn't already have 2 I would be very tempted. Very cute. Can't believe nobody has snapped her up yet.

Katie walked passed the labs today, very interested but NO jumping, barking, growling at all! The training is defiantly working! Yay

I have given Katie my cuddle today as I see she has been at the kennels for some time now.

For anyone looking for a greyhound please don't forget the ones that have been waiting for a loving home for a long time as whatever training or assistance they may need it is worth it in the end.

Our James was at the kennels six months before we adopted him and although it was not easy with him he is now a different dog.

Best of luck to Katie and Cornelia too in finding a forever home.

Katie had a great run in the kennel I even got on it on video on my phone! She an Cornelia love to play they even have a toy in there kennel

Katie proved herself to be a clever girl who reponds well to training and treats and she is so affectionate and loving so will make a fabulous pet for someone willing to take the time to help Katie realise she has now retired!

Katie came training again today (couldn't bring Cornelia too as I only had one helper with me today!) She was brilliant, she had a little sniff of Frankie as if to say 'oh hello again', tried to play with her walking back to the car, jumped in the boot no probs this time, and travelled beautifully. At training we didn't hear a peep out of her, even though there were other greys there having a bit of a stress and a bark. She did everything I asked of her, we practiced approaching a very scary stuffed dog and she did this with perfect manners - so proud of her! Then we played a game where she had to find the treats under some pots - she quite liked that game! My 11 year old daughter Lauren came with me to handle Frankie, and Katie absolutely LOVES Lauren - resting her head on her shoulder and tucking her head under her arm - it was lovely to see! After training finished and the next group was starting, Katie politely said hello to Millie the lurcher and stood next to her for a bit.
Katie seems to need lots of reassurance, whether it's from a human, her kennel mate Cornelia, or her new friend Frankie, but it won't take her long to realise all these new things she's experiencing for the very first time aren't so scary.
I'm in Oxford the next 2 weekends, so if anybody can take her to training in the meantime then please contact Ruth. I will continue to take her as and when I can - she's an absolute darling and I really look forward to fussing, erm, I mean working with her! Em x

Katie, I really WISH I could take you home with me because I just know how wonderful you would be in a home, but Chez Bryce is full to bursting with 4, and plus it's selfish to prevent somebody else from having a fab pet like you. Little girl you are such a poppet, travel so well in the car, walk beautifully on the lead and were great with other dogs(ok as long as they were greys). A bit excitable with small dogs and lived upto your racing name (setting our oh no a little dog alarm off) and a bit overwelmed with the event which made you more exicted with nerves. But if someone wants an intelligent little girl and will train her to get on with other dogs, she will make a perfect pet. x x x x

Katie just left a coment for your mate Cornelia, same goes for you early to bed no talking to the boys all night. Coat, teeth and nails polished and we'll do our best to find a hooman or two to share their home with you x x

Took Katie to training today and I was so proud of how she behaved! After saying hello to Frankie in the run, she took a bit of encouragement to hop into the back of the car, but once in she settled down straightaway. All the way there, I could see Katie's little head bobbing up and down as she took in all the sights of this marvellous new world she's dying to explore! I was too busy concentrating on Cornelia in class, but from what I could see, Katie was doing really well for Abby my daughter. Julie had already taught her "here" (which means look at me) and Katie enjoyed demonstrating that she knew how to do as she is asked, of course all this was helped with a little bribery and corruption in the form of lots of cheese!

On the way out, the next group were starting to assemble in the car park, including a few non-greys which took Katie by surprise so of course she had to have a little bark at the very scary doggies, but she soon forgot them and jumped straight in the back of the car when asked. No more head bobbing up and down on the way back, far too tired for all that so she just crashed out the whole way home!

Because training had involved lots of encounters with fluffy toys, and because Katie had been so good at approaching and looking away when asked, I decided to take her home to meet my cats. She was certainly interested in them but there was no lunging or barking (a la Cornelia!) so with a little time and effort I think she may be cat friendly! Having said that, my cats don't run around or react to greys, so she might be different around cats with different temperaments.

Although she can be strong when she wants to be, Katie generally walks beautifully on the lead and loves to have a nose at everything. She's totally wide-eyed with wonder at the exciting new world she's suddenly been exposed to, which of course will be nothing like her upbringing up until now. She really needs somebody, preferably with another grey companion, who can teach her that the world is indeed a fabulously exciting place but also that it doesn't always have to be scary. In return you will be rewarded with a stunningly pretty, switched on and wonderfully loving grey who is desperate to please and will happily lean against you for lots of cuddles, and will attack you with kisses if you let her!

I'm unable to make training for the next two weeks, so if anybody can take Katie then I think it would do her the world of good - just let Ruth know if you can help.

Katie loves to play on her own n with cornelia. I've been trying a few of the things jools has suggested. She will make a fab playful companion n has been here far to long!

Did a bit of training with this really clever girl today and she soon realised that if she left the fluffy toy and came when called she'd get a nice piece of sausage :) Like her kennel mate Cornelia Katie was very bright ...they are both such lovely girls there must be someone out there who wants an intelligent greyhound to have lots of fun with ? Julie x

well Katie may not be too good with little dogs, but she is loving when you sit in her kennel she attacks you with kisses, it is so cute.
