Honey (Sally)

female, 18 years old, Fawn and White

Added by Paul

Updated: Monday 01 Jan

Sally was speyed on 21st April. She stopped at Ruth's house post op and is a real sweetie. She cried a little to start with but slept all night and has been unmuzzled with my 5 greys and has tried playing with puppy Bob! She loves her food and ate happily amongst the others and after going toilet outside, settled quickly for a snooze!

14/9/18 Sue reported today that Honey had died and asked for two photos to be added. PW

Honey (Sally) has had 0 cuddles today (3 all together).
If you register or login, you can give her a cuddle too!

Bit of a long shot but wondering if there is anyone in the Daybreaks family who is looking after greyhounds at the moment. Big fawn boy who needs someone who is greyhound savvy - he is big,(very often needs to reverse out of spaces), just needs his bed, toys to cuddle, feeding, a couple of 20 min walks and generally left alone to potter around the house/garden. Ideally someone who is currently without a grey, he is fine out and about with greys but has never lived with another one in a house environment and definitely no cats.

I've been let down by my arranged home stay for 31 Aug to 2 Sept so I can attend my nephew's wedding.

Thanks for reading.

So sad for you Honeysmom, nothing can express the way we feel when we have to let our "babies" go, but your words expressed your love for her beautifully. Grey's race through our hearts for what seems such a short time and then on to Rainbow Bridge, but the love stays forever and we are never without them by our side. God Bless Honey and you x

My beautiful Princess, Honeybun, Nelly - all the names I call you. I am so sorry I had to make the decision to let you go. I could not see you suffer but you have broken my heart today. You have been the most wonderful, demanding diva of all times and I worshipped every inch of you. I'm not sure what I do now. I am lost and heartbroken. I know time will ease the pain but never the love I feel for you.

Thanks and love to Paul Warman and Sally Rapson who have helped me over the last days with texts when I knew the inevitable was coming and to both of you for the love and care you have given my baby over the years.

To my 'Golden' Girl (Goods Cits) up there - shine bright so I can see you. God bless you sweetheart. Mommy loves you. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Well done Honey and Sue you are both golden girls!
Good Cits Gold is a wonderful achievement you should both be very proud and especially as Honey raised her game exactly when it mattered! Hope you have celebrated appropriately! Love from Paul, Linda and our 2 golden girls (a bit tarnished now!). xx

My golden girl - that is what she is called now! Passed her Good Cits Gold yesterday with Macca, Ruby and Kai (hope that is how you spell it Sally?). No one more shocked that Jackie (Macca's Mom) and me as neither of them had quite mastered the 'send to bed' despite it being their favourite past time but today right on cue off they trotted like the well trained greyhounds we know that they are!! Well done to everyone. Sue xx

Massive thank you to Vince for the photos from Snitterfield - I did get more than that 'one' special picture I wanted. Thanks for your patience with Honey who stood frozen to the spot when I took her off-lead as I don't think she knew what was happening. Anyway booked in for the next one in September and already worked out the words that may get her to pick up her ears - supper, breakfast and 'in a minute!'. Thanks again. Just love the pics. Great big Honey munching kiss to our beautiful Princess Honey who is 6 years old today. Love your quirky ways, I now get up between 4.45 am and 5.30 am (OK not always willingly), you run and hide when I get the lead out to take you a walk - the car is a far more preferable option! You pinch shoes and slipper and take them to your bed (always in pairs) and your latest "trick" you have to take the fold up brolly (that I now carry even on sunny days) just so you can take it out of my bag when I get home from work.

Happy birthday Honey bun love you loads and loads. I'll give you a kiss when you get up after your morning nap !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with Petplan and I pay about £100 per month with a £90 excess for the 4 greys. You do get what you pay for, I had a bad experience with a cheapo insurance company several years ago when I tried to claim for treatment for one of my cats (google E&L problems). Obviously any existing illnesses which your pets have when you enter into the policy are not covered, but I have a 'life' policy whereby anything new going forward is covered for their lifetime and not just for the policy year. Petplan DO cover dental (which is not usual) however the dogs need to have an annual dental check in order for this to be valid. I have found Petplan are quite good with regards to price matching and most insurance companies will usually 'reassess' their premiums if you ask them nicely ;0)

Hello Honey's mum, Ruth is right you do get what you pay for and not all policies will continue cover for illness/accidents after the first year even after renewal.
I'm with More Than I have both my greys covered it costs me about £60 per month but given that one of them recently had to have a spleenectomy which came to over £2,500 its money well spent. I do have the top cover but they also do a slightly cheaper option. I pay a £70 excess plus 10% of cost thereafter. We're back at the vets today as Boogie has tweaked her back and will need xrays as the pain relief given yesterday isn't working......at the end of the day I have peace of mind knowing that any illness/accidents are covered.

Hi Honey's mum, Insurance is a complicated thing as we all know with household and car insurance! The cheaper insurance policies are generally cheaper because they pay out less and this is something to look for. I have always insured mine with Petplan - yes - it is very pricey but all of mine have had everything covered - Tara had 3 dentals with extractions and were all covered. The problem is when you switch insurance companies then any pre-existing complaints can't be covered. If you want to give me a call please do. Alternatively if you wanted some advice from Andre who is the vet who attends to the greys at Perry Barr he is very reasonable with his fees and is based out towards Tamworth (worth a journey) tel: 01827 288888. I am at the RGT Conference today so am unfortunately unavailable but if you want to call me, please do x

Hi Ruth, Any advice on dog insurance? Never claimed anything for Honey in 3 years but the premium is now double what is was! She has had 6 teeth out and still needs 2 more out - not covered by our current policy. Totally confused by lifetime, maximum benefit etc. Any advice appreciated.
