Well, as Paul (Cheeky Monkey) told you, Davey is now officially a Smith. He is a great boy and I have my doubts that he is nearly 8! He loves playing with Millie (Sykes) and has also got Flynn to play sometimes. He is so nosy and the minute a cupboard door is opened he is there! and he is excellent to take a walk until Flynn tries to lead him astray. (Shame about the photo of me though - I have got all my teeth honestly!) Love to you all from Davey, Millie and Flynn (Mommy Terry.)

Davey is doing great - he is such a character with so many expressions! Millie (Sykes) is very happy with Davey and Flynn as her partners in crime. We have found out that Davey and Flynn are actually related. They are a lovely trio.

Robbie and I have just come back from dropping Davey off on trial to the most lovely home he could ever wish for..... I had a phone call this morning offering him a chance and I am keeping my fingers crossed that he is a good boy.... watch this space! xxxx Missing you already Davey boy xxxx

Please please please - someone please give Davey a chance. He is such a loving boy - settled at night (just takes himself off to his bed), good with other greys and larger dogs and getting better with smaller ones. He is a bit strong on the lead but a harness helps with this. He used to be very food aggressive but I have taught him not to snatch and he is very good whilst eating with my 6 and Nora and will wait patiently to see if there are any leftovers.

He loves to play with his toys and will entertain himself throwing the toys around for a short while and then settles again. He knows commands such as 'on your bed' and is a very clever boy.

His main problem is being behind bars of any type which is why I have got him at home. If in a kennel or run, he becomes aggressive with those he doesn't know - but out of this environment he is loving, gentle and laid back as I have found out. Because of this, I wouldn't advise that he lives in a home with children where there may be stairgates or something similar.

He would suit the company of another dog and would be a faithful companion to anyone who gave him a chance. If you are interested or would like to view him - I am happy for people to see him at our house - please please get in touch. He is getting too settled into our routine and I don't want to upset him by letting him get used to our life and then be uprooted again...... This fella is 8 this year and really deserves a home to call his own. x

Hi Calc, we seek foster homes for those greys who are not 'selling themselves' in the kennels (like Davey) or have perhaps have been returned or need some training.

EVERYTHING is provided whilst the dog is in foster - a coat, food, bedding, toys, ID tag and collar etc - all the foster placement needs to do is provide a loving environment with time and patience. Also if we have interest in the dog being fostered we ask the foster family to be available to talk to potential adopters and being able to bring the dog back to the kennels for viewings if required. There is no time limit on fostering but obviously the most important thing is to try and find a permanent home as soon as possible.

To anyone looking for a greyhound, don't be put off by the older ones looking for a home, they have still got plenty of love and life to give. Our Rose is 11 in the Summer and she is just like when we adopted her at six years old.

James walked the lovely Davey again today, he is so different out of the kennel. He walked beautifully and ignored the noisy labs all together, such a good boy and he soooo enjoys some fuss. You get my cuddle today Davey coz we love you! x

I really can't believe how good Davey is being at our house. He slept all night with no accidents last night and is so good playing and sharing with the toys and waiting his turn for treats - such a difference to how he has been at the kennels. Golden!

Davey has spent the day in the kitchen with is at the kennels and has been absolutely golden, no barking or trying to snatch any food, although the poor boy looked very put out when he didnt get any dinner tonight when the others were being fed, as he is again going home with Auntie Ruth. Love the picture of him looking at the small furry :)))

If only that photo was a video! We took Lola & Lena in the Just for Pets at the Swan not long after it opened.....we beat a hasty retreat once we realised how close to greyhound level the small furries were ;)

Hope Davey is a good boy tonight, as it was my suggestion you take him home, mind you with 2 dinners in him (he had his usual one at the kennels) and treats he should sleep all night!

It was Davey's turn to come home with me tonight! I stopped at Just for Pets at the Swan Shopping Centre on the way home as I needed to buy another comfy collar to use for our post op dogs. He had an exciting time with the small furies and loved sniffing all the treats on offer and chose a few to take home!

He has come home, had his treat and some dinner and has settled really well. He has no food aggression and seems to love the company. No barking so far (which is what lets him down at the kennels). I am hoping he has a settled night as we have had a very busy day at the kennels with 4 new volunteers and our big clear out has been continuing! We have some exciting news for Daybreaks which we will announce at the end of the week :-)

shanesmum i know how sorry you were to bring back davey but he just loves to be amongst it and he does like to make you aware of his presence doesn,t he with his barking- i,m sure if anyone looks at this site they will be able to see from all the positive comments that he is a super lad- can,t wait until wednesday when i get my next barking installment

Have just re-read my post, and when I said "not a bit of sadness" I actually meant it WAS with sadness that we decided to bring him back - sorry if it made us sound like meanies, we loved having him but were doing him no good atall. Just hope & pray that a prospective new owner can look past his grumpy display behind the bars of the run - because we know he can be so much different once outside. xxxx

It was with great reluctance and not a bit of sadness that we decided to cut short Davey's foster stay with us. Although he was behaving impeccably in the house, clean every night, responding well when told "no" etc, he was becoming more and more fretful at being on his own, would not settle during the day & so was consequently so tired come the evening. Those of you that know this beautiful boy's demeanour & antics from the kennels would not have recognised him by this morning - he was so sad, withdrawn and lost that we discussed with Ruth and decided to take him back to be among his friends. The second he was back in the run with Pluto, Maggie and Ruth's gang it was like a switch had been flipped and he was the happy, bouncy boy again. Sadly, he is also the barky boy again too! If nothing else, his short spell with us proved that it is being in the kennels that makes him bark, that he thrives on the company of other greys and that he is a lovely, confident and outgoing boy who will be a great pet in the right environment. I'm just so sad that we're not in the position to have been able to bring another doggy home for him to have been with. Good luck Davey boy, you really are a special boy and you need to sell yourself better so that someone can enjoy you as part of their family. Big cuddles XXXX

Davey settled in his basket yesterday evening {in the dining area} while we were in the lounge. He repeated his overnight sleep without any disturbance and was happy to greet me just before 7 this morning when I took him outside as per yesterday. I feel he is still missing having another dog with him as he squeaks from time to time but in all other respects he is a beautiful boy. I think he would settle very quickly into a home with other greys.

This lovely boy is so vocal in the kennels, but has not barked in any situation he has found himself in over the past 24 hours - workmen, delivery men, next doors mad barking dogs, dustbinmen and trains!! It would appear that the barking is just a reaction to being in the kennels, a way of saying "I'm here, look at me!" What has become apparent is how much he is missing the companionship of the other dogs (he was kennelled with 2 other Greys), he is really quite fed up & restless and pacing around looking for them all the time. Although very interested in food, he is good when told "no" and won't pester. In the house he behaves impeccably, no problems with stairs, household appliances etc and he is quiet and as good as gold. I think he needs to be with another dog/s for that little bit of pack security and company. He will be a fabulous addition to somebody's family.

Davey made for his basket the second I put out the light, and settled down to sleep. He slept through the night without disturbing until I went in to see him at about 7,o-clock. As soon as I took him in the garden (on the lead) he did his toileting. He is beautiful and just wants to please ,loves to be told he is a good boy when he responds to us.

i can see you are working your magic again and this special boy so deserves to find a forever sofa soon but i,m sure he,ll be very happy to stay with you in the mean time x

We have brought the lovely Davey home with us for a spell of fostering to see if we can't help him get a lovely new forever home. He has had a good look round everywhere, is so interested in everything you do, needing to have a sniff at whatever you pick up and, at the moment, is following us from room to room. He was fascinated by both the Sainsbury's delivery man and some workmen who came to fix the water heater - watching with great fascination but not making a sound. His supper disappeared very quickly and he enjoyed a couple of treats, so fingers crossed for a settled night.

Came and said "hello" to the lovely Davey today, such a freindly lad, the others were sleeping but not davey, he just wanted some fuss!

I love this boy soooo much, he has so much character and is adorable, so wish I had room for him in the Williams house!

Of course Davey is a handsome boy - he's Daire's brother! (Same Dad - Dave's Mentor). If Davey has the same temperament as Daire then he's going to be a fantastic loving gentle boy for some lucky person! x
