Thanks Fatharry .. I really thought Ben had won the Greyhound Championship in the Novelty ring but it must have been a very very close choice between him and the grey who won it- did you know that grey came from Ipswich for the show? Our reputation is growing, I agree that the Show is getting better and better- I guess people come to the Show, have a great time and tell their friends and they come along next year and tell their friends and so on :) :) Thank you for the comments about Lucy .. the best of it is that having been so devastated at losing Tigger I so missed having a greyhound about and saw Lucy on Greyhound Gap's site - Perry Barr only had brindles in the kennels and I didn't want another brindle as Tig was stripey :( Lucy was in foster in Bham so easy to visit her (fate) and see if Charlie and I liked her and she liked us ... she was so friendly and such a lovely girl that I said I'd have her BUT I told Liz Cameron about her and said ' she's lovely but she's a very odd shape ... oh well showing isn't everything and I don't think she'll ever be a show dog' ... hahaha what do I know !!!!! Mind you it took a lot of hard work by my homeopathic vet to get her right and healthy so everything else is a real bonus :) I always stand in the show ring knowing I take home the best dog in the show but I look at the others in the ring and think they are all beautiful so am genuinely surprised when Lucy does well and her win on Sunday was just so special cos the judge was so apologetic at choosing her as we know that people would think Lucy won because I organise the show but I knew that all my judges are very fair so - for Lucy to win .. the judge must have been very sure so I was really really proud of her :) I love how she spins and plays in the ring so I know she's enjoying herself too :) Thanks again - see you on Sunday 13th October 2013 Julie xx

Best day of the Year, and keeps getting better, lovely unique atmosphere that only Daybreaks can create.Thank you to everyone who made it happen - must mention the judges that worked so hard. My Ben did really well, but my highlight of the day has to be Julie winning champion with Lucy and seeing how happy they both were, especially after the devastation of losing Tigger last year, well done Julie I know it meant alot to you, looks like youve got another star on your hands! x.

What a brilliant day - What I love most is the fact that if you put your hand down at your side, there's always a grey there to fuss, not necessarily your own! They are all so gorgeous. Congrats to all the prize winners, and good luck to the daybreaks girls and boys finding new homes. Thank you to everyone involved for a great day.

What a lovely day we've had. Thank you to everyone for organising such a brilliant show and to all those that were involved selling raffle tickets / cakes / merchandise etc. Also to those who volunteered to take round 1 of the trust dogs - they were all so well behaved and an absolute credit to Daybreaks....hope lots find their forever homes.

It was so nice to meet the people and dogs we've made friends with through the site and FB :-)

My Bob was an absolute star.....didn't wear his muzzle and mixed well with the other breeds. I was sooo proud of him (even the wonderful singing when he decided he wanted a squeaky toy) AND he won a rosette!!

However, what made my day more than any of the above was seeing Jim in the ring looking so lovely and winning a rosette! He looked so well I didn't realise it was him until Ruth said. My goodness what a lucky lucky boy he was landing at Daybreaks! (I *may* have had a little bit of sand in my eye at that stage!)

Ps Hope the poor little thing that Ruth had the call about (dumped in Coventry) as we arrived is OK

What an amazing day yesterday :) I love seeing the day unfold from early morning (7am was quite cold believe me) and more and more people turn up- we MUST have had more than last year even the huge indoor arena was full with lots of greyhounds having fun :) The classes were huge and an enormous WELL DONE to everyone who won a rosette, I just hope everyone (dogs included) went home happy and tired. A massive Thank You to all our wonderful volunteers who helped yesterday- all the jobs are important and I daren't mention people by name cos I don't want to forget anyone- everyone made yesterday a huge success so THANK YOU -I couldn't do it without you :) and the greyhounds will be the real winners as we've raised lots of money for their care. Thanks too to the people who generously sponsored classes and trophies - I have to send the schedule for printing in July to make sure we have it back in time to take copies out and about to advertise our Show- this means that sometimes I can't include all our sponsors if their details arrive after the schedule has left- I usually then add their names to a list which our printer produces the week before the Show and I display that on the day as a further Thank You. This year our printer was taken ill and in hospital- luckily he's now out and recovering well but couldn't do our final list so- to all who sent in sponsorship money but didn't see their name or dogs name listed can I just say a big Thank You too. I hope you all enjoyed it- my greyhound raced at Hall Green but was found in Stoke Dogs Home in a very poor condition, she came to live with me last March and me and my vet have worked hard to get her health back on track :( .. I was absolutely astounded yesterday when Lucy won her class and then the Championship - the judge said that she'd tried very hard not to give it to Lucy cos we don't want people to think the results are fixed but Lucy was the one she liked the most so I defintely went home very happy - and very surprised :) SO thanks again - I can't wait to see how much we've raised ... and put Sunday 13th October 2013 in your diary and we'll see you all next year- if not before :) Thanks again Julie xx

It really was a fantastic day and massive thanks must go to Julie Sadler for organising such an amazing event. We are in the process of counting the money so we will let you know how much was made to help the wonderful dogs at Perry Barr RGT. Thank you to everyone who came along to support the day - it was fabulous to see so many of our Daybreaks babes there! Massive thanks to everyone who helped me at the kennels before the show and everyone who looked after a Daybreaks grey at the show too.

Even more fabulous was that Alfie and Maggie went off on trial to new homes and May has found herself a home in Brighton :-))))) Gotta mention that my gorgeous Wispa won a first for best condition..... I'm such a proud mum! I can't wait til next year! x

What a fantastic day we had today!! Well done to all the people who worked so hard to make today possible. I do hope a lot of money was taken for Daybreaks. I am pleased to say that Amber and Jay won 5 rosettes between them, 3 going to Amber. Unfortunately reality was never far away, while we were saying our farewells we heard about the dog that had been dumped out of a van in Coventry. At least she is safe now, and looking at her I don't think it will be to long finding a safe home. I think she was a she but never got close enough to see.....lol and this is the one who sent his grandaughters into the ring with Jay to take part in competition for Bitches. The girls were so embarassed bless them, luckily Jay was none the wiser but it did raise the eyebrows of the judge! Amber had a fine old time seeing lots of people who all looked after her at various times during her stay with Daybreaks. Once again thanks to the organisers!!

Had a brilliant day at the show again this year. Cracker won best rescue n 4 other rosettes. He didn't win best in show like last year but I totally understand that the judge's were forced to give another dog a chance lol. Then there's my quiet, shy little boy Charlie! Well once again he was useless!! But I love him n I think quite a few other people do aswel especially when he took every opportunity to make everybody aware he was around in his own peaceful way! Thankyou to Jools for organising such a great show n all the others involved from judging to selling stuff n all the volunteers who looked after the trust dogs. I know 2 found homes already. Hope lots of money's been made for the greys n what a brilliant bunch of people r involved with Perry barr rgt n daybreak!! Love ya's. X

Hi Emma.....Paul and I will be missing the show this year as we're off on holiday (couldn't go away in the summer when we had Norris) so I won't be able to contribute cakes this year. On the up-side Lola & Lena will be looking forward to some great walks and runs on the beautiful Gower beaches. With Paul's weekend course commitments we had to opt for a wed to wed holiday so are off tomorrow. Hope it all goes well and the cake stall will no doubt be a huge success as always. Gutted we are missing the show but we really need the holiday and there's always next year :) Love from Linda, Paul & the girls xx

Hi Emma. I've got a day of baking planned on Saturday, so see you with lots of goodies on Sunday morning. My local supermarket was kind enough to donate some boxes last year when I spoke to someone in the Bakery Dept. I'm sure if anyone else is able to do the same or get a donation of boxes from their local bakers shop and drop them off at the cake-stall on Sunday, Emma and Ina would be very grateful. See you all on Sunday. Mand x

Last year we had quite a few cake boxes donated (including plastic supermarket trays/boxes) which came in really useful as we were able to package the goodies in a way which meant they were easily transportable - and therefore we sold LOADS and made lots of lovely money for our wonderful greys! If anybody is able to do this again it would be really appreciated :0) And of course it goes without saying that any donations of cakes on the day will be gratefully received :0)

Ooooooeeerrrr the rosettes are made and the trophies have been picked up so we're almost ready for the Dog Show :) There are trophies for all the Champions plus a trophy for each class winner in the Greyhound Ring 2 so please have a go :) Perry Barr Track have kindly given us a trophy for class 65- Best rehomed grey from Perry Barr, Judy Zatonski has made some lovely prizes for the most handsome dog (Class 54) and prettiest bitch (Class 64) in memory of her hounds and The Vintage Charm company have given wonderful prizes for Classes 18 and 19 - the real Golden Oldies. There'll be medals for the Kids Club classes again courtesy of Deb Howell and Millie and you can join the Kids Club at the Show then have a go at their classes in the Kids Ring :) There are special huge rosettes for the oldest hounds in Classes 18 and 19 and also in classes 8, 13 and 30. A huge thank you to all our sponsors- without you we couldn't hold such a lovely day so very many thanks and I must apologise to Rose Tyler who generously sponsored Ring 4 but I misspelt her name so thank you Rose. Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday 14th December :) Julie x

The show is getting closer so I am starting to put together a list of volunteers able to take one of the Daybreaks greys looking for a home along to the Dog Show. If you think you can help, please give me a call.... Many thanks - Ruth 0121 782 7702.

If it is as successful as last year, hopefully we will find homes for the majority of our lovely greys as we have an ever increasing waiting list of dogs desperate for a place at Daybreaks....
