Maya first came to us in 2013 after being found as a stray, where she had spent seven days in a pound. Her time was running out, and our Head Office at the time requested that we take her in. Sweet Maya found a lovely home in 2013. Sadly however Maya was returned to us through no fault of her own at 12 years old. Maya is now living out her life in one of Daybreak’s long-term foster homes.
Here is Maya’s message to her future sponsors…
Hey there, I’m Maya! At a fabulous 12 years young, I hit the jackpot when Cath, an amazing fosterer from Daybreaks, opened her home to me.
I’m sure not to be forgotten at walk times, bolting to the door like a rocket the moment those leads appear! I may still have a spring in my step, but I take my sweet time on walks—sniffing every nook and cranny, much to Cath’s amusement (or maybe annoyance)!
I get it, financial times are tough for you marvellous humans, so I’ve been on a mission to help my foster family save some dough! What are my super-powers, you ask? I’m a turbo-charged vacuum cleaner… I zoom in on any fallen snacks like a ninja, ensuring they don’t languish on the floor for too long. Food waste? Not on my watch!
I’m a foodie at heart so my sneaky fosterer thinks I’m oblivious when she slyly slips in my Incurin tablet (for leaky older ladies)! I totally get it—taking my meds is super important, especially since they cost a pretty penny! When you sponsor a charming old gal like me, you’re helping Daybreaks cover my tablets, and those dreaded vet visits.
But oh boy, the Evening Primrose tablet she swears by for my skin is a whole other saga! Those little devils barely make it past my lips before they take a nosedive onto the floor. Ever tried swallowing one? My Ichthyosis skin needs some TLC (which I’m totally cool with), like soaking in medicated baths and using fancy wet/dry shampoos that make me feel like a spa superstar!
