Heathers Sutton Walk on Sunday 29 March 2009
01-Apr-2009
SUNSHINE PUT A SPRING IN OUR STEPS!
After a particularly breezy cold snap, the first day of spring dawned bright and sunny. With the clocks changing we wondered whether many people would come to our walk in Sutton Park or stay in bed for a lie in. With a 6 1/2 month old baby I knew I would be up!
Whilst setting up the gazebos for the picnic the dogs started arriving and kept on arriving. By the time we blew the whistle to start the walk, my Dad had counted a record turn out of 92 Greyhounds! Apart from 2 (who shall remain nameless, but they know who they are) there was no barking, just very waggy tails.
Everyone gathered round at the end of the walk to enjoy our picnic and to buy raffle tickets. Hounds were flopped all over the grass in the sunshine trying to get their breath back – we had expected winter coats not the need for sun cream!
We welcomed new walkers and old faces, and with every one’s generosity we cleared a fantastic £251 profit. Thank you all.
Some pictures are available in our gallery page here.
Look forward to seeing you all in May.

the walk was lovely and it was great to meet up with some of the recently homed greys who i knew from the kennels and have a chat with their owners. Toby was a little nervous as he has never been around so many people and hounds before but soon enjoyed it once we started walking and apart from one or two small growls my 'mr. grumpy' Rossi had a good time as well. thanks lots for a great morning and see you in may.
